The manager, Keith, greeted us right away and was incredibly courteous, kind, and attentive to our situation. Yesterday I made an appointment because I had recently had a family member change my breaks and was worried it may have been done incorrectly. I walked in and was greeted by Keith the manager and he came out asked me what was going on. After some explaining he hopped in the Jeep with me to hear what was going on. In about 10 seconds he knew what it was got under the Jeep and told me my break plate was just a little bent and rubbing my new rotor. He really saved me and charged me nothing. No stars. my Mother in law took her van in for the front wheel cylinder leaking fluid. They replaced all the brakes and rear whee cylinders and did not fix the obvious leak. Then I call and they claim that they did not see the leak. Total idiot. Stay clear. read more

Went to Brake Check in Boerne on 12/10/22 for pads and rotor resurfacing, costing $518. I had to take my car back to them on 12/16/22 due to a grinding noise on the driver's side wheels. They advised that noise was just the new brake pads being "broken in," and that the noise would go away over the next week or two. I let a few weeks pass with NO improvement, and on 1/8/23 I went to the New Braunfels location for service. They had no availability and referred me to the Schertz location, which I immediately drove to. The guy at the counter drove my car and immediately heard the noise, and acknowledged it wasn't normal. They put it on the lift and within 5 minutes, he came inside and asked with obvious concern on his face, "when did you have these brakes done, sir?" I told him 12/10/22 at the Boerne store and asked why the concern. He took me out and showed me that the caliper bolts were very loose, creating a potentially crippling and VERY expensive future repair if left alone. He proceeded to have the bolts tightened and checked the others. When he produced the Inspection Report, it curiously made absolutely no mention of the problem he identified. I asked about that, and he said he couldn't change the Inspection Report once it was generated. He offered to give me the first name and phone number to a regional VP, which I took and intend to call. But, I am not waiting for a callback after reading so many virtually unanimous one-star reviews. If they call me back, it would be a surprise to me after reading others' experience. It's a real shame I didn't do my homework on this company first. I NEVER would have let them near my car had I seen their track record for inferior workmanship, quality, and follow-through. read more

We do it right (On the front of the building) - Until we run out of skill... We had the brakes done on our 2010 Ford F150 in March and at that time they told us the control arms were bad & causing the noise we were hearing from the front under full lock. We went back in July to have both bad control arms changed...another $500, but they then tell us there is still a noise under full lock & it is critical that we change the CV Joints. So we take it back to them the next week & they replace the CV Joints...the interesting conversation that followed essentially amounted to 'the noise is still there, but you have new CV Joints, please pick up your vehicle (the owner did admit, the CV Joints were used, but not bad). When the owner tried to tell my wife that it did not make the noise when traveling in a straight line & that it would be OK if she turned less...then we were done. They took our money; said they did not work on transfer cases & we should take our truck to a mechanic. So, we did...our mechanic diagnosed the problem as a vacuum leak in the 4X4 actuator system trying to engage 4X4 when in full lock & told us that Brake Check had completely mis-diagnosed the issue. Essentially, they heard a noise, took a guess & threw parts at the problem & then we paid for it. We usually only write good reviews, so this one was hard to write, but driving away from a service center with the same issue you showed up with $680 poorer will do that to you. Please, learn from our lesson...they may be able to do brakes (maybe), but get a second opinion if they say you need anything beyond that. read more
