There is something for every budget in here from cards to art you won't find elsewhere, plus info on the artists in case you would like to contact them for more info, other items, etc. The windows on the side overlook Kedron Brook which makes for a beautiful setting for this shop. Definitely stop in!

What makes this store better then most of the others is the variety and craftsmanship that can be seen throughout. It also doesn't hurt that you are greeted by the happiest and sweetest dog there upon entering the store. The store itself was beautifully maintained and organized. It had a flow to it that just drew you to ever corner. From the front display of handcrafted metal worked lights to the far back of the store's amazingly knitted coats and hats there is something for everyone to see and purchase for a country home. There is a wide variety of kitchen items such as cutting boards and cheese knives that match with the wood fire glazed pottery. Across from the pottery and kitchen items was a knitting selection of mushrooms and other out there figurines such as fish and sock monkeys. But, the crown jewel of the store in my opinion has to be the jewelry. These items which ranged from necklaces to ear piercings are all handcrafted and beautifully worked. Every case had the name of the crafter on it and the store owner could provide you with more info upon request. Overall this is 1 of 2 stores that should be on everyone's must view list when visiting the town of Woodstock, VT.

I don't review much, as I tried to be understanding. This shop is unusually terrible. If I could…read moregive a ZERO, I would. I had a small frame job for my diploma (important doc), 6 x 8. No matte. Nothing complicated. They charged $73. Which could have been ok because it's small shop in Hanover NH (high rent). 1. It took 8 weeks. Dropped it off around 9/8. 2. Framer not in shop, they order frame to send to her off-site. 3. Took over 5 weeks to get the framed work -clerk told me 2-3 wks (had logistical excuses). 4. Framer didn't score the glass right, one edge wasn't clean. They charged a premium. 5. Didn't offer to fix; when I asked (since I'm paying $73), clerk had to text framer off-site and see IF she would fix it. 6. She would, but won't get to it until after 10/21 (whenever convenient for her). No delivery date. Since it's my diploma in a hostage situation, I had to endure. They messed up, charged a lot, no customer service/regret/communication (didn't call when it was going to take longer the first time), wasn't going to rush to correct a mistake. I called a week after 10/21 and they had no idea when I'll get my framed diploma; like I was bothering them by asking questions. 8 weeks of painful experience.

Instead of purchasing online or from a bigbox art retailer I opted to visit Black Horse, as they are one of few remaining independent art stores in the area. I arrived at the shop 45 minutes after opening as I am on strict time contraints at all time, I have to work out of efficiency. But when I arrived the shop keeper told me that I had to be quick or come back at a later point in the day. His excuse was that he had to remove his car from the snow. But mind you this was around 11AM, and this shop keeper should not be dealing with personal matters during business hours. Regardless I told him that I needed quite a bit of material and he informed me that I still should be fast, go back later, or visit another retailer. He should have seen my desire to spend a money in his shop as a means of paying for his snow removal. Unfortunately he rushed me out of there. This put a stick in the wheel of my entire exhibit's time table, as I had to travel a great distance of time waiting for an online order. All I have to say is that I will never be taking my money to this business, nor will I be recommending this business to anyone ever. Shame on this place, and the shop keeper I dealt with, the customer should always come first.

The minute I walked in the door, I knew I had found my art supply shop. After checking out all of the box stores, as can be the initial go-to when re-orienting in a new town, I was feeling a bit let down. I mean, here is this beautiful city saturated with artists and all I could find was overpriced canvas and incomplete color offerings. I knew there had to be something better and after some more digging, I came across this little shop on Pine Street. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about all things 'art'. As an active member in the artist community, he is totally in-tune with local events and if you do happen to stump him with a question, he can point you in the right direction. I feel lucky to have found a place to go when the creativity strikes and happy to share it with new and seasoned artists alike.
