I've been going to Naomi for 3 years. Her cousin is my neighbor. We had a disagreement, and now…read moreNaomi no longer wants me for a customer. I asked about other stylists there, and Naomi said they were more expensive. I guess she was suggesting that I can't afford them. VERY unprofessional.

I got a Brazilian Blowout from Alana Bobe about a month and a half ago and have been very…read moredisappointed with the results. The hairdresser that performed my previous Brazilian Blowout did a phenomenal job and really set the bar high. She correctly applied the serum and heated the treatment so it was locked in. It even lasted about 6 months longer than advertised! (Side note: I relocated to Albany temporarily before a move to NYC the week after my treatment with Alana.) I was nervous after seeing bad reviews of Studio 413 regarding the Brazilian Blowout (specifically, and recently, from Rose A on Google). Since I was temporarily based in Albany, my options were limited. I called the salon to inquire about the Brazilian Blowout, and Alana answered the phone. I asked her about the review and mentioned my concerns for having the treatment done correctly. She assured me she did not know who performed Rose's treatment, but that she had been performing the blowout for years and would honor the special price ($200) that had been given to me by a referral. I booked the appointment hoping that Alana would be able to live up to her word. While Alana was performing the treatment, I thought she was failing to seal the treatment by not heating the root of my hair. I moved a couple times when the iron got close to my face, but I assured Alana that I didn't care if she burned me, I really just wanted the blowout to last and look good. Immediately after my Brazilian Blowout with Alana, I knew my hair did not feel the same as it did the last time I had the treatment. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and took a while to resonate on it and really get a feel for the treatment Alana executed. My fears that the treatment was not performed correctly have been confirmed as I continue to battle the humidity. In fact, my hair looks like it has never been touched by a Brazilian Blowout. I wrote this review and sent it to the salon to extend the courtesy of not blindsiding them by posting about my negative experience. Alana called me the next day to get more information about my experience. She began questioning which products I used (certified products off Amazon that I had used with my previous wonderful BB last summer). She questioned how often I wash my hair, if I had been in a pool, what climate my BB from last summer was performed in, etc. She basically tried to find every excuse except poor performance on her part. She asked what it would take to make me happy; I explained that since I was not local, the only reparation I could think of would be a refund. This seemed to make her angry, and she then tried to turn the situation around on me. It had been 7 weeks since the treatment when I spoke with her, but she claimed that it wouldn't matter if I came into the salon at this point because the treatment was out of my hair. It's supposed to last 10-12 weeks. Alana then transferred me to the salon owner, Monica. I gave Monica an account of my issues and was met by the same questions that Alana had asked: what products I used (certified Brazilian Blowout - the same ones I used the last time I had the excellent experience), have you been swimming (no), how often do I wash my hair (once per week). All my answers checked out because I know how to care for Brazilian Blowout treated hair. Monica then asked what it would take to make me happy. I told her the same thing I told Alana: I'm not local so I guess the only thing I can think of is a refund. Much like Alana, Monica seemed to become angry at this and, again, tried to twist the events to turn the issues back on me. I really wasn't expecting anything by sharing my issue with the salon. As I mentioned previously, I just wanted to give them a heads up. Instead of thanking me for taking the time to contact them, Monica continued to tell me that I shouldn't have waited so long. It had been less than 2 months - the treatment is supposed to last 3 months. Aside from the awful and ineffective Brazilian Blowout I received, I then had the unpleasant experience of dealing with Alana and Monica trying to avoid taking responsibility and turning the situation around on me. I'm disappointed in Studio 413, but more disappointed in myself for not heeding other reviewer's warnings.
