The Cove Bay offered comfortable rooms with great service, in a quiet part of town. The ocean is just a quick jaunt from the front door, and the surrounding area is mostly quiet neighborhoods. Downtown is only a 15 minute drive along the coast. Downstairs, is a restaurant and pub. The food was always great (place was always busy at dinner service), and the staff were friendly and attentive. After long days, sitting in the pub knocking back pints and playing darts was something we looked forward to. Really felt like home. I'll miss it. Highly recommended.

I only paid about $220 from Thursday night to Monday morning in Mid June for a queen size bedroom. The bedroom is decently comfortable. There is a bus number 3 to downtown that makes the hotel is convenient. The bus takes about 30-45 mins from the hotel to downtown. The down side of this hotel is that there are not a lot of restaurant around except Burger King and IKEA cafe. But the price of food in restaurant is not expensive as entrees on average is £15-30.

The staff are really on the ball and anticipated all my questions at check in before I had a chance to ask them. They gladly summoned cabs which arrived promptly whenever required and the rooms were simply marvellous. Here's a wee list of my rooms attributes: Comfy beds, free WiFi, in room safety deposit box, iron and ironing boards, oodles of storage, non-fogging bathroom mirror great bath shower and products, flat screen TV, room service, nespresso machine and kettle, shortbread and highland spring water, dressing gown, slippers and more. They thought of everything! There's a swimming pool too and a friendly if expensive bar, and a restaurant that I didn't try. Plenty of free parking. Hey there's even an IKEA across the roundabout if you get bored. Only downside for me came at breakfast which was decent enough, but one of the staff members was excessively dour, coffee was slow to arrive and our used plates were sometimes left to stack up. All in all we had a great stay and I would definitely recommend a stay if the out of town location suits. Vegetarians note they offer veggie sausages on the breakfast buffet menu but presume you have to make a point of asking for them to be cooked to order. I couldn't be bothered waiting and there were plenty of other options on days that clumsy guests hadn't spilled bits of haggis into the tomatoes beans and mushrooms. Oh the trials of being vegetarian lol!

The real highlight here is the food, other hotels I've stayed at don't have very appetising food - Cruden bay is small so I expect there are not many other options for eating out. Thankfully this isn't necessary as the food here is great. I tried the 5 spiced duck and chicken risotto mains, both were excellent. My colleague ordered the fish and chips one night and it was huge! You can even get a second piece of fish if you like. All the main courses are big. Cooked breakfast is also very good.

The service is always friendly and knowledgeable. Some good whiskeys as well. The food is very good, traditional Scottish fare. If you want to know what good Aberdeen beef is, come here. One of the best steaks, and prime rib I have had. The curry is also excellent. Like most places around they will do special dinners for Mothers Day, Christmas, ext. I have not been, but those always sound amazing. All freshly prepared and locally sourced. There are about 30 rooms, and very nice ones at that. Certainly as good of a place to stay as any. So I decided to suprise her, I arrived at hers in the Friday, she lives just outside Aberdeen. On the Saturday I suprised her again and told her to pack an overnight bag as we were going somewhere. When we arrived she was like "no way malmasion this will cost a fortune" well for £84 each we got our room, mal munchies brought to our room, a cocktail and a cooked breakfast. Our room was lovely and had a great view of the city. The bathroom was so big that it actually echoed.. What was great about doing this was that we didn't have to wander about Aberdeen in the cold rain and wind to different bars or worry about how we were gong to get home. We brought along champagne for the room and relaxed in the room having a good catch up. Then our mal munchies arrived. We didn't know what to expect but it was lovely. Lots of small taster dishes which included, scallops, prawns, giant pumpkin ravioli, chips, potatoes, chicken, pineapple and chilli, crab and a creame Brulae to finish. After this wee got ready and headed down to the brasserie bar. The bar had lots of little areas so you can get some privacy if you want. It was cosy and very Scottish feeling with the decor, including sporan tie backs for the curtains. We enjoyed lots of different cocktails and when we were fine we headed back to our room. In the morning we didn't have to check out till 12pm. And breakfast was on till 11am so we got ready at our own pace and headed for breakfast. We'd had the full breakfast and you could help yourself to anything from the continental breakfast to. We then checked out. We all really enjoyed our stay here and all the staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful. They also have a spa but we didn't use this.
