Went here tonight for a hockey game and giving a 4 as it was satisfactory and I didn't really investigate the extra facilities, e.g., food and toilets. It wasn't as cold inside as I thought it might be so you don't need to layer up too much. Seats are hard but so long as you don't need much back support they're fairly comfortable for sitting on for the 2 1/2 hours or so you'd expect to be there for a hockey game. The steepness of levels allows for a very good view of the floor even if you have an extremely tall person in front of you; however, you might want to avoid sitting right by the railing as my view of the net meant I had to move a little from side to side as it was sometimes obscured slightly, and that puck is small! Also, watch if you put your bag on the floor... the bottom of mine got wet from someone behind me having spilled a drink. :( Two breaks allowed for a wander back outside to the foyer for juice or a cider (Magners) or beer, and there are hot dogs and bags of crisps available, too. A bottle of water is £1.50 - worth bringing your own if you're on a budget. I'm curious to see what it would be like for a non-hockey event and how they'd cover up the ice. Presumably for Dancing On Ice tours they'd need to get rid of all the Braehead Clan branding... read more

This is a review solely on the arena and not the main reason I go to the arena which is to watch my beloved Braehead Clan. If it was a review on the Clan they'd get 5 stars even though I am very biased! The arena itself has lots of parking which is great and is safely lit and manned. Important when you're going to events which can finish quite late - as hockey does. Security and safety have never been an issue here and there's lots of disabled spaces on all floors. The arena staff are incredibly helpful. Because i've been going for so long they're like family now and they really cant do enough to ensure everyone has a great night. For a sporting event this is a must because when spirits are high you need to ensure level heads are around. The seats are comfortable. I'm a season ticket holder so normally have the same seat but have sat in various places for different games. They all have a good view though personally I prefer a corner position because you can see the ice more than from sides. The only reason i'm marking it down is because the food and drink options arent the best. I've heard a rumour they might be increasing for next season so i'll look forward to seeing that happen. As a vegan there really isnt much to pick from other than a couple of packets of crisps. If you've never been to an icehockey game I cant advise it highly enough. I've been here a handful of times - once to see a Braehead Clan ice hockey match and I've caught a few gigs here too. Great as an ice hockey arena but as a gig venue I'm not a huge fan - it just feels a tad cold and lacking in atmosphere, and lines of sight are not great for a shorty like me. Aside from that, the sound is okay. The Arena is attached to the Braehead shopping centre, so there's lots of free parking available and dining options in the centre's food court right at the Arena entrance. read more

This isn't really a great venue for gigs, it's small and the accoustics suck. I remember when I was around 14 I went to a Marilyn Manson concert here, good old teenage angst. It wasn't great and I just remember being squashed the whole evening. The whole place is lacking any kind of atmosphere or character and just feels like the inside of a warehouse. The only good thing is that you can get the ferry to Braehead Arena which is quite exciting and a little different just remember to pack your sea legs. read more

The Braehead Arena is an enormous, stadium style venue which hosts an odd variety of gigs. A quick glance at their website tells me they are to host the Singing Kettle Christmas Pyjama Party, TNA Wrestling Tour and the Radio Soulwax and 2 Many Djs Christmas party. The website is really good, there you can see a 3d view of the arena as well as what's on. As evident by my last example of their gigs they really cater for anybody's taste and the atmosphere when the arena is at full capacity is certainly memorable. read more

We have been to several shows here and have always had a good time. Parking is at the nearby Braehead shooping centre or Xscape. Food is extortionate in here so would advise going downstairs to the sainsburys and stocking up with goodies there first. Stairs into the arena are VERY steep so its very hard for the less able bodied and also those with small children. I'm sure there must be other entrances for wheelchair users. Prams must be left at your own risk upstairs which is a pain but we've never had any problems. Be prepared to get your nags searched going in but in todays society this happens often elsewhere read more

Access to and from the venue by car was just endless queues of merging traffic. Parking was fine in the multi story. £3.50 for a pint about usual for venues . We were seated side on to the stage, down very steep badly lit stairway, one person rumbled down the stairs and ended up being stretchered away, hope he/she is OK. Acoustics poor from our seats but better if you are seated facing the stage. We were at the Dylan / Knopfler concert and although the music was good the vocals just didn`t come across, maybe down to the artists. I didn`t enjoy the concert and as with the SECC I will not be attending another at these venues, but would maybe go to a Hockey match or exhibition but not anything that relies on sound presentation. Not quite sure what the point of this venue actually would be: it's not convenient for a night out, doesn't have the tmospher of the older theatres, doesn't stage anything that can't go to another place (the SECC could pick up the larger gigs, and the theatre shows could certainly go to the Kings). The sound system is okay, but the space lacks intimacy, atmosphere, charm... still, it keeps the Singing Kettle out of the Theatre Royal, I guess. read more

Worst experience ever won't be back I booked my seats months ago disabled seating. As I have a cane and I have mobility issues. Anyway got to were my tickets say and the steward say we need to move u it's for wheelchairs and there trying to say we said that no we didn't there mistake. Yet they kept trying to blame us really aggressive and nasty tipi us ruined our night anyway. We got made to move all the way round the arena to a horrid bit stuck in a corner I was so upset. They should of refunded me for Friday as they round my night or gave me comp. I was went to be going Sunday but I got my money back never again am I going near arena again they had me in tears read more

Was at the World Series of darts finals on Saturday night and won't be back next year unless they get moved somewhere that can cope. After queuing for 30 mins to get in as 4 people doing searches for 3 thousand or so people we stood in a que for 80 mins to get a drink at which time had missed 3 games . Come on Braehead get a grip get more staff for these events or risk loosing them . read more

I took my 11 year old daughter to see JLS at the Braehead Arena this week. The layout is not great for a concert and the security was well over the top. Every time you moved out of your seat you were scrutinised. I appreciate the staff were only acting on management's orders but their constant restrictions and orders spoiled what was supposed to be a fun evening. I certainly would never attend a concert at this venue again. read more
