That said, my customer service experience was uncomfortable. As an African American woman, I did not feel welcomed. The employee who helped me did not greet me when she turned around. She immediately started ringing me up without saying hello. She also did not hand me my bag. I had to reach over the counter to grab it myself. Small actions matter. A greeting and basic courtesy go a long way. I hope management works on improving the customer experience so everyone feels acknowledged and respected when they walk in.

The shirt and souvenir section also had some good variety of items. Now I wish I would have bought a "You are nowhere" shirt, for fun!

We actually arrived about 2 1/2 hours later than we planned due to a major problem that closed a ten mile stretch of I-80 and all of the detours were swamped. There is something intriguing about an Indian Truck Stop especially since my dad was a truck driver. I doubt that he ever experienced an Indian Truck Stop, Native American or Asian Indian. After a quick look at the menu, I ordered Chicken Vindaloo and my wife ordered Saag Paneer along with Basmati Rice and Garlic Naan (rice and bread are ordered separately). We also split a Mango Lassi. After a short wait, our orders came out and we could finally start eating. The Basmati Rice was fluffy and worked really well with our entrées. The Chicken Vindaloo was delicious and spicy but my mouth recovered after a while. The Saag Paneer was likewise very good. But the Garlic Naan was the absolute bomb!! I could have made a complete meal out of just that! It is a surprising find this far from a major city.

I arrived around 9 am and there was no hot food ready (not a big deal), but I scored on finding a reflective American flag hoodie in my size (I can wear it walking my dogs!). Overall, a worthy stop for clean restrooms and cheap gas. Pros: - not the Casey's across the street - restroom stalls show "occupied" or not - inexpensive gas - friendly Cons: - pretty bare-bones, basic stop

The boys got fast food and we were all going to eat outdoors with the pups despite the heat and humidity. There just weren't any spaces for travel trailers available and we almost left and decided to just circle back into the lot, park on the curb in front of the pumps and sit on the curb and eat. Would be 5 stars, but for a travel stop, it wasn't super travel friendly pulling a tiny trailer even.

The female employee on duty chose to call law enforcement to wake up and move parked truck drivers instead of treating them with respect. As CDL drivers, we're required to manage our hours of service and get proper rest to stay safe on the road. Waking drivers in the middle of their break and forcing them to move creates unnecessary stress and can affect safety for everyone. If parking restrictions exist, they should be communicated professionally before drivers park--not by having police wake sleeping drivers. I hope management addresses how truckers are treated, because we're the people keeping freight moving across the country.

Tru is Hilton's budget-friendly option but this does not take away from its charm. The rooms are warmly colored, festive and inviting and the bedding, although a bit scratchy is still comfortable under the sheets. Be advised, the hotel, being budget-friendly, doesn't offer any suites. Toiletries are provided by Not Soap Radio. The open-plan lobby is extremely friendly, warm, welcoming, and inviting with complimentary buffet breakfast in the mornings. Pets are welcomed for a $50 USD fee, and given treats according to their tastes. We checked in late but it was no problem at all!

I liked that the room had laminate flooring instead of carpet. I did not like that there is some freeway noise (it quiets down late at night) and the mattress is adequate bot not the most comfortable. The lobby is spacious and well-designed with plenty of seating (convenient during the breakfast hours). Breakfast is, again, basic, with scrambled eggs, pancakes, yogurt, and so forth. The associate who checked us in was very kind and friendly. She gave us a treat for our cat (there is a minimal pet fee). The parking lot is large and well-lit (and there are no parking fees).

The lack of individual temperature control is the only downside. We liked cold room - so we closed the bathroom (where the heat was really pumping), cracked a window & turned on the ceiling fan. It was perfect. The King bed was comfortable & the room smelled fresh. We loved that there's a small table to eat at & that there were tables on both bedsides. The style is old-school homey... which could feel dated or classic, depending on your view. The price point was great & everything we were going to was in walking distance. A fabulous find!
