It's a nice addition for those veterans who live outside the major metropolitan areas served by the national cemetery locations. You can tell it's new. There's a section with a columbarium, the committal shelter, but with only a few of the traditional veteran cemetery markers, mostly granite or marble. My understanding is the close together markers are memorial markers for veterans whose remains may not have been recovered. It's solemn atmosphere, as these cemeteries can be, but oddly uplifting to realize the connection between those buried here and the person visiting, even if unrelated. It's a sparse setting, with open fields on three sides. What makes this site unique at least for now, is that across the street, a country lane really, is the West End Cemetery. A civilian cemetery, the locals have done an outstanding job of providing white wooden crosses near the headstones of veterans who passed away before the national cemetery was built. With the large trees on this site, it brings even more attention to the unobstructed stark view of the official military cemetery across the lane. As always, on Memorial Day weekend, the volunteers take time to place the small flags on each grave site, including on the ground immediately in front of the columbarium. Despite its location a few miles outside the nearest town, there were many memorial flowers throughout and visitors dropping off more, paying their respects.
