I have an issue with white men painting scenes of Black people out in a field, titled "Workin' Hard". This is a man who doesn't pull artistic inspiration from his own experience, but would rather capitalize off of the experience of Black peoeple, innacurately depicting thier past enslavement and romanticizing one of the worst human rights crises in the world.
Walking through his gallery is a great study of the manifestation of modern white supremacy in the southern art world. His work belongs on the walls of plantation houses that do tours and book weddings, and try to sell you the idea that what happened there wasn't monstrous.
Also, he doesn't want to wear a mask. read more
