Everyone from my local dentist to the CTMAX personnel suggested I have my wisdom teeth removed,…read morealthough they were not in pain. They said it would be better in the long run for me and would alleviate "future issues". They also said it would be best to take them out all at once and kill multiple birds with one stone. So I did so, spent about $800+ out of pocket. My very good & stable insurance carrier (rare these days) paid the rest. Since this time, I have had intense TMJD, locking jaw, shooting pains, acid reflux and I have not eaten meat in many years, as I can't chew it. I have been referred to orthodontists and physical therapists who each suggested splints and physical therapy. After being discouraged I have paid out of pocket for a number of physicians, maxillofacial professionals and orthodontists, none of which have helped but all who seemed to want me to return. None seemed focused on addressing my TMJD, nor treating any pain. Finally, after spending close to 4k out of pocket I have located a maxillofacial surgeon and an orthodontist who have begun to undo the errors made. I would not recommend CTMAX to anyone. I would get multiple opinions before ever getting wisdom teeth removed.

If you are within driving distance of this dental practice you should make the trip. I have…read morecompleted a year of extensive dental work and can say that all the procedures were explained, my opinion weighed in making decisions, all procedures went as expected, I experienced almost no pain and am totally delighted with the results. To be clear I had extractions, a bone graft, bridges and crowns , multiple cleanings and an implant. The staff is helpful, pleasant and efficient. I received reminders so that I never missed an appointment and did not wait long once in the office for my time in the chair to begin. While needing major dental work is not a good position to be in, this team makes the experience as pleasant as possible. I can only say this dental experience was the best ever in my 80 years.

If 60 Minutes or The Hartford Courant were to do a story on Cosmetic Dentist Scams, DR NGHEIM…read morewould steal the show. His lies..endless. Within 3 months I realized I was in serious trouble with DR.NGHIEM, but felt helpless. He had filed all of my natural teeth for the crowns, I knew finding another dentist at this stage would be a challenge. I was referred to this office via a doctor from Western Mass to see Dr. Lawrence Christian. I called the office to let them know I needed full mouth reconstruction, they recommended Dr. Ngheim. I checked the website to confirm that the implants and bone grafting I needed were a service they offered. I intended to wear braces on my bottom teeth throughout this process if possible. Dr. Ngheim assured me he could do the implants and grafting and agreed with my need to have these things done. He informed me that I was unable to wear braces, my roots were BLUNTED. None of the other cosmetic dentists I had met identified a problem with my roots. However, Dr. Ngheim had a solution. Crown my teeth and this would be equally as effective and successful as braces. I agreed to it. Within 3 months I knew my bottom teeth were a disaster which was creating a new set of problems. My general dentist informed me there was nothing wrong with my roots and braces would have been an option. I then saw five dentists from different specialties. All made the same determination; "my roots are healthy." They all disagreed with DR. NGHEIM'S MONEY MAKING DIAGNOSIS. I've gathered 20 yrs of dental xrays which reveal no changes in my roots. I shared this info with Dr. NGHEIM, his response; "FIRE ME",(my husband witnessed this and I recorded it). Dr. Ngheim failed from the start to go over my Treatment Plan. I asked him repeatedly to review the plan. After four months I requested a meeting and brought my husband as a witness. I asked Dr. Ngheim to review my Treatment Plan with us, In a very flippant manner he replied, "I DON'T KNOW HOW". I asked him why he didn't start the bone grafting at the beginning of the process since it takes months to heal. He responded letting me know he had no intentions of having or doing bone grafting My temporary Crowns were slamming against each other and I was in pain. He said "live with it". At one point I was in pain. My arches were so narrow I had difficulty with pronunciation. He said "you'll get used to using your tongue differently". On another occasion l let him know my smile was crooked, Dr. Ngheim said "retrain your jaw". Early on when I asked him about the bone grafting. I was shocked when he gave me the name of an Oral Surgeon to call. I assumed Dr. Neighm was hands on throughout this process. Why would I assume otherwise? I asked who was paying the Oral Surgeon, he said "YOU". He charged me 58K for CROWNS, what I didn't know was that the Treatment Plan did not include any of the services I came to him to have done. I was unaware of this because he refused to go over the treatment plan or the bill, I now realize it was intentional not to review these with me. Would I have signed that contract if the three problem areas that I needed worked on were not included? My purpose for seeing a dentist was not for pretty teeth and I indicated that at the onset. My 58K bill was now 80K+. Halfway through the plan Dr. Ngheim let me know that ANNUALLY HE HAS ABOUT 5% OF HIS PATIENTS , 15 LAST YEAR, THAT HE HAD TO DISMISS. HE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO COMPLETE THEIR TREATMENT AND SUGGESTED THEY SEE A SPECIALIST (I thought he was a specialist?) AND NOW I'M ONE OF HIS VICTIMS. Fifteen patients that probably paid in full and were dismissed in the middle of their plan, and like me, don't know where or who to go to. I asked if it is legal to dismiss me when he hasn't completed the work and filed all my natural teeth down without crowning them. He let me know "IT WAS HIS CHOICE AND LEGAL". I requested a dismissal letter and full reimbursement a month ago. Have had no response.

I brought my son to the Wethersfield location to have 4 wisdom teeth extracted at 9:00 am. He is 19 so I did not go in with him, nor was I ever asked if I had any questions or concerns. Not only 15 minutes later I hear my son moaning and wincing in pain. I had to tap on the window to the receptionist and said, " I am pretty sure that I can hear my son, in pain". She tried to tell me that the I was hearing the suction machine. I said "No, that's my son!" She then said "Well, I will go see if he's ok. She closed the window on me, but I slid it back open to see where she went. She pretended to go to the room to check on him, but she did NOT! She came back to the window and said " yes, he's ok." I didn't say anything about seeing her walk to the door and back but never go into the room or even open the door to the room. My son was now quite so I waited a few more minutes. I thought maybe they had given him something more. I then heard him again this time extremely loud. I knocked on the window again and said, " OK now this is unacceptable, and they need to give him something more- he is clearly feeling this procedure!" This time, she did go in the room and came back to me and said "They are almost done. That tooth was really impacted." This is strange because the x-rays prior to this at the pre-op consolation did not show impaction. At about 9:50 am I was called to receive the post op instructions from the women who the Dr referred to as "his assistant". I don't know her name because she never introduced herself. Again, very cold delivery of instructions and when I asked a question regarding the gauze, she spoke over me. By this point, I just wanted to get my son home. When it was time to leave, I was instructed to go out and move my car to the front and they would meet me out there. This woman, the assistant, brought my post-surgery son down from the third floor, in the elevator, by herself. She is small in stature, so I questioned the safety of this because, although my son is not a big person....this is NOT a safe practice for their patients nor for her! At about 2:30 in the afternoon, my son woke up in excruciating pain and concerned because he thought his stitched came out. He had taken the 600mg ibuprofen, as they directed, as soon as we got home (about 10:30) and then at 2:30 he took the prescribed pain med. Because he was in so much pain and worried about sutures, I called the Wethersfield office. Again, I am not sure who I was speaking with because no one ever seems to introduce themselves, not even the surgeon, post op, when he entered the room. But the women I spoke to would not allow me to speak and she would (like the assistant) constantly talk over me. When I said " We did everything you are saying and what I am saying is ..." She cut me off and very nasty, said " Right, what I AM SAYING is..." To which, I hung up the phone. There is not much that can be done at this point. And unfortunately, I have to give it 1 star for this to post. They made sure they collected every penny before they would even come out to get my son from the waiting room. Wish I had read the reviews prior to choosing them, money seems to be their driver. But the teeth were extracted -so there's that! I immediately contacted our family dental practice to let them know of our experience and that they certainly should NOT be recommending any of their patients to this practice. And they provided me with sound and compassionate medical advice. I will be sure to place this review everywhere and anywhere I can, I work in a large, local, hospital, and I will share this story every chance I get. I hope that by doing so, I will save some one (or their loved one) from a terrible experience.

TLDR; Stay away from this place. They're creepy, overpriced, rude, and very bad with children…read more Our child needed to use the restroom when we got there, and they said we couldn't wait for her outside the door. We had to go to the room for the appointment. That some staff member would "be there when she got out". We've never been there. Our daughter had never been there. And the first thing they did was say we can't wait for her to finish using the restroom? Red flag number one. Red flag number two. We hesitantly oblige and go wait in the room - only to realize our daughter had left the bathroom and of course, no one was there waiting for her. So she's in a new place, without her parents there, and no one to help (or anyone because the place was weirdly empty). I had to tell the staff it sounded like she was out of the bathroom for them to realize based on their own words they were supposed to go get here. And red flag number three. "Dr" stephen herself. Slinked into the room in a very creepy way, whispering so low none of us could hear her. It was so off-putting I can't put it into words. I had to ask her to speak up a number of times throughout the "consultation". Despite being asked to speak up, she immediately began whispering in the same low tone, mentioning that they don't want kids to remember a dental experience that could "scar them for life" so they have the kids drink some "juice" - yes she used the word "juice" - that would help them forget. I had to ask her what was in it! Which she then described as an amnesia inducing product called Versed. (Which has serious risks for children with asthma, which they did not seem to care about at all). I asked her if this was necessary and she said "no", then mentioned they could use a local anesthetic of some kind instead. We then asked her if we could keep our daughter company, at least be in the same room, while the procedure is being done. We were told no. How could we possibly leave our child with someone whose staff couldn't even make sure they were there for her when she left a bathroom ten minutes before? And the bonus. The procedure was estimated to cost a little under $950, and HALF of that was the so called "juice" (Versed). Obviously we left and are never ever going back there. All in all it was a loss because that "consultation" cost over one hundred dollars. Stay away from this place.

Her office person was also helpful when I called between the extraction and the follow up with additional questions.
