    Milton

Just a warning to those with families out there: you probably don't want to visit this station late…read moreat night, or even any time of night if it's Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Located near the city, BP Milton brings flocks of drunks to its store, craving snacks after a night out clubbing in the CBD or Fortitude Valley. During the day, it's largely fine. You'll even see a high proportion of businessmen filling up their Beamers on a lunch break. On the other hand, I recently saw a drunk guy in his late 20s stumbling around here at around 9pm on a Thursday, talking aggressively to a scared family that were hastily trying to shove their kids in their SUV and get the hell out of there. I don't know how the staff here deal with such types - the staff always seem polite to me, joyful even; they must employ saints. For more information on the undesirables that frequent BP Milton, please read about the neighbouring McDonald's and carpark at the McDonald's Milton listing.

In addition to the hooligans and drunks who frequent this BP station on weekends, I'd like to add…read moreone more thing to the small list of things I'm not too fond of at this BP. If you are like me and drive past this BP a lot, then you'd agree, it's not the cheapest pump to fuel up at. It's always up to around 5 to 10 cents dearer to fill up here compared to most others. For example, tonight, it is 149.9 cents whereas most other places are around the 143.9 cents mark for unleaded. It is one of the only petrol stations I've seen that are in the high 140 + cents, or over 150 cents per litre. What a rip! I'd say its prices are strategically set higher because of its inner city location and they know they can afford to put prices higher as there will always have customers around who'd want to pay it anyways.

This place has existed in it's current location for eons, ok maybe not that long but trust me it…read morehas been there for a long time and is still offering the same old quality service it did when it was first established. Great spot to refill, get your car serviced or purchase any mechanical extras you may need. I have dropped my car off here for a variety of services over the years and nothing has seemed like too much trouble, in fact they go out of their way to ensure you are getting the most bang for your buck, always eager to find you a quality part for the best price or meet certain time constraints (admittedly a curve ball I have often thrown). Sadly there are only a few businesses left like this one in Brisbane, traditional no frills services that don't cost you an arm or a leg, provided by genuine, down to earth people who genuinely seem like they want to help. I would suggest to always call ahead before dropping your car off for whatever reason, even if you are just asking for advice as they are often booked for weeks in advance.

What excellent gents there are at Bizzell's. I dropped in for an unannounced visit a few days ago…read morewhen my car was being a jerk, and Robin (the owner, who has worked there since he was a teenager in 1962) had a really decent look at the troublesome clutch, pointing out to me where he thought the issue could be. It was great to find out more about the car I'd been driving for seven years! I was more than confident about leaving my car overnight in Robin's capable hands. He called back the next day to let me know that he'd had a good look at everything and he wasn't comfortable about fitting any replacement parts, because he wasn't confident that they'd fix the issue, and he didn't want to charge me for anything that may not have actually been a solution. He was genuine in explaining everything he'd looked at, and all the possible causes he'd crossed off the list after investigating. He recommended I take the car to a Mazda centre specifically, and despite labour and overnight holding, he didn't charge me a cent. What a bloody decent gentleman.
