It can honestly make my day (or night). Anyway, this Walmart gas station had the best price in town today. I snagged gas for $3.77, which feels unheard of these past couple of months. What really stood out though was how tech-friendly the pumps are. You can connect your card through Walmart Pay and never even take your wallet out. While you're pumping, there's this little animation of a car filling up--it's oddly entertaining. And when you're done, your receipt is sent straight to your Walmart account. No paper, no hassle. While you're waiting, there's also an LCD screen showing store deals... which of course tempts you to go inside for a little shopping. I don't mind though--it's a nice one-stop stop, and the kids get to walk around a bit after dinner while we fuel up. We've found going in the evening is the best time--way less chaotic than during the day. Tip: If you have Walmart+, you'll save an extra 5¢ per gallon.

When I was in Barrington over the weekend, my GasBuddy app told me that Meijer was that place. There's not much to say about a gas station, generally. However, I will say that this one was clean. It's with the Meijer store that's here, which is part of a larger collection of stores so there's at least one or two restaurants nearby. It's relatively large, with probably at least 8-10 pumps, and when I was here there were only one or two others so it wasn't busy. I appreciate that they have a dispenser with gloves to use on the pump, and I'd appreciate that even in non-pandemic times so I hope they keep it up.

But is one of these 'good things' the 66 Station? That remains to be seen (or read) so read on.. The '66 Station' offers Gas, Ice, Beer - Wine - & Liquor, Sodas, Chips & Snacks, a few Auto-Products, Cigars, Cigarettes, plus Scratchers & Lottery. It is run by a very nice young Indian Couple who trade off taking care of the station and taking care of their kids at home. I NEVER see anyone else working here but them. The Beer & Wine selection here is limited to two refrigerated cases for the Hops-Beverages, and two store shelves plus a small cooler for Wine. Expect the wines to be off-brands, discount-brands, and the occasional overpriced bottle of not-too-embarrassing stuff. The Cigar selection is surprisingly good, but the Cigarette selection is pretty common, accept for one exotic brand, Djarum Clove Cigarettes, which I smoke so they buy them. Moving on to the Hard Liquor, this small 66 convenience store offers 3 entire shelves of it, plus two extra case displays. And the price on the liquor is not bad - even on the bottles of high-end stuff. Overall this is a friendly place, that feels more like a small-town barbershop than it does like an impersonal gas station store. Don't expect to find sandwiches or samosas here, or even milk. But if you are looking for what they have, the experience will seem very "family" driven. Also, this is the fist place south of Terra Cotta Blvd that offers alcohol.

This gas station is located in the corner of Busse Road and Addison Court and it's pretty small--I think four tanks total, so it can't accommodate a lot of cars. There is a small convenience store attached to the place as well. They're not open 24 hours--on this stretch of road, that would be a great way to waste money during some of the overnight hours--but are opened 5 am to midnight. Armed with my trusty Gas Buddy app, I found this Gulf station within a couple miles of where I was. I know many people roll their eyes at chasing gas, but this was 35¢ cheaper than the station on the corner less than a quarter mile away (which was about on par with the others around, give or take a nickel). It was also about 70¢ cheaper than the three gas stations within a quarter mile of my home in the city, so we'll worth filling up since I was a a quarter tank or less. The place is small and it's often busy as a result of it's size and being the cheapest within a mile or so. I have to confess that when I went for gas when gas was trending over $4.50 (in the suburbs, even!) it was so busy that I did go to the BP (the aforementioned gas station on the corner) which was 20 cents more expensive, because the line to get into the Gulf was three cars deep into Addison Court to even get into the Gulf lot. Timing can certainly be of the essence here!

The gas lot is small and if it's a busy hour, the wait can be hard to decipher and time consuming but for that wait you can possibly save up to 20 cents a gallon when compared with stations closer to your home. Why decipher? Well, the lot was not created to draw in customers that are waiting in some sort of line. You'll have to pull in as best as possible not to block those trying to leave and gauge the situation without losing your temper. The gas station also has a mart with few kitchen staples. Some video gambling. Vape and glass hookah instruments for sale. The station exterior doesn't offer much on a regular basis. I.e. paper napkins for checking oil, window washing fluid or pumps that get cleaned regularly. Their pricing is better than the gas stations associated to bulk stores like Sam's club and Costco.

He's helped me a couple times now. I learned how to get an actual receipt. I use those paper receipts for Fetch, a gift card generated app. Gas is cheaper here than any other station in Crystal Lake. This…read moreQuikTrip location consistently has some of the cheapest gas prices in town -- cheaper than Costco, Walmart and Woodman's or even $.30 lower than other standard stations. That's a win considering the times we're in now. They have 10 gas pumps stations and with their prices I'm shocked it's not busy with lines whenever we come to fill up. The station is newly opened as of a couple of months ago and inside their convenience store it offers a large selection of items. You can order food through their in-store kiosks, and they carry everything from hot foods and snacks to lotto tickets and everyday convenience items. There deals on a sub and drink for $8 if you purchase through the app and many other hot food deals. Prices are marked up and what you'd expect from a gas station (I wouldn't come here for the $8 milk), but there are some great deals--like reasonably priced coffee for $3 and $1 donuts after 3 PM. The roller grill options like egg rolls, hot dogs, and taquitos are also affordable from $1.29 - $2.99. One standout feature are their premium drink stations. The modern self-serve selection is impressive, with a wide variety of coffee, sodas, slushies, and teas--it feels much more high-end here than your average gas station. The bathrooms are located toward the back/side, are easy to access (not locked), and are clean, which is always a plus. They also provide comment cards if you want to leave feedback. Tip: Download and use their app for additional savings when ordering or getting gas. Overall, this is a solid, modern gas station that actually feels higher end but with the lower gas prices. This Quik Trip opened this year in Elgin. This gives drivers another option for gas on Randall Road…read morethat was sorely needed. I pulled in, filled up my tank, and left the pump without any problems at the station. Getting out of this location was difficult. You have to go out of your way to get back to Randall Road. It's not easy. Still, I recommend Quik Trip.
