The gas pump area is super clean and maintained well. Inside is orderly too. I needed to get gas and remembered they offer the famous HoHo cakes. So, after filling up, I ran inside to get the sweet treat for my sister. The Mama P's selection was plentiful but not very diverse. They were all chocolate based except for the animal cracker. It was so cute with pink cake and a pink animal cracker on top. I also chose the chocolate and peanut butter. I wish they had more non-chocolate options such as lemon etc. They were delicious just the same. Once you check in on Yelp, you receive an offer for a free bottle of water. The young girl at the desk was very confused and went to get another person for help. That girl looked at my phone and said, "we don't do that". When I said I think they do she agreed. It seemed like since she wasn't sure how to process the Yelp offer, she just wanted to refuse it. Then I realize it is Kenosha Restaurant Week. More confusion ensued on the price of my HoHo cakes, the only item they offered on Restaurant Week. I love that Lou Perrine's participated in Yelp and Restaurant Week. I just wish the staff is better trained on things like this.

I stop by in the morning for coffee - they have it brewed fresh each morning with really great options- even my favorite iced coffee! They are great about getting new items in and keeping things up to date. You will always be welcomed by smiling faces and they are always willing to help if you can't find something. I see police officers here a lot (it's near the police station) and I always feel safe if I have to come by late at night. BONUS: they have KRINGLE! And the deliver groceries if you need it. AMAZING. (It looks like they have a low rating currently due to old reviews- with new management, everything has changed!)

It's clean and they have a great variety of snacks, drinks, pastry and sweet items and "take home" meals that actually looked tempting, unlike usual gas station food. (They have that too) but these meals looked great and I'm thinking we may stop and buy a few before we head back to Chicago. I thought we had an account here but when we entered my phone number it didn't come up so the attendant explained that it is probably the stores that start with a q. He gave me the application and entered my phone number to get points for this first purchase. He was very nice and helpful. I wish we had these near where we live in Chicago. Milk and bread are usually a bargain as well. Kwik Trip was early in the store brand game, so you'll find a lot of quality snack foods with their own names on them for less than the big brands. Washrooms are always spotless. The company is an amazing growth story, when I first started visiting them in Lacrosse, WI, they had three stores. Now 800+ in WI, IL, IA, and MN.

Heading back to Cleveland from Racine the Costco in Pleasant Prairie seemed to be the best option. Located near to the Wisconsin and Illinois border it was a great place to fill the gas tank in the cheaper Wisconsin prices. I was especially happy to see that the gas prices here were significantly lower then any other Costco or other gas station on this trip. Of course Costco stores are similar, although it was fun to see what specific items differ. Here I was happy to see that they could sell alcohol and that the prices were very reasonable. They also were selling and sampling Kringle which is a wonderful pastry circle. Located not too far from the highway this Costco ended up being a great stop on this road trip.

But the bright side is that they have everything in stock and their check out lines were quick and efficient. I will stay the staff is incredibly friendly and I feel comfortable asking for where things are since things are always moving without feeling like I'm ruining someone's mojo. I reached out to corporate over the situation and they ignored both my wife and I after an initial canned response. It breaks my heart to sever my once loyal ties with Thorntons over this station's poor customer policies and treatment. This was not my primary Thorntons, but the complete lack of customer appreciation by this station and the corporation led me to this.
