The fact that the place has always seemed busy everytime I pass it gave me confidence that the place was probably half decent, and given that this small independent salon boasts 6 seats and each seems perpetually full, this seemed a good sign. I wasn't disappointed. An impromptu call in saw them willing to accommodate me within an hour (which was fine) and a wet cut with one of the two guys who own and operate the place cost me £25 which felt like a pretty good deal given the excellent service that I received, the tasty cappucino that I enjoyed whilst being seen, and the quality of cut I received. The place is also affiliated with 'Beauty in Elyssium', an in-house beauty salon run within the same building, and I look forward to trying them out at some point. All in all, highly recommended, and well worth a visit.

Rem.Uk is a very pricey, higher end barber shop in Altrincham, in the run up of shops to Waitrose…read more I called in here on the spur of the moment, to try and get a haircut only to be denied saying they can't book me in until Thursday, I found this to be ridiculous, being open Wednesday - Thursday, they must have been able to fit me in before then, especially considering they were open until 8pm on Friday alone, and then 8 hours on Saturday, 6 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Wednesday. They were not busy on my visit, and only seemed to have one stylist in, they must have been able to fit me in before then, they was no wait or people showing up or looking likely too, the person who served me wasn't even qualified or able to cut hair, and I presume he was the manager due to the way he spoke saying "I only have 1 stylist as one called in sick" For a manager not being able to do a simply dry cut, that is ridiculous as he owns the store, and only one stylist is simply stupid and obsurd. I felt insulted, like he was just politely refusing to serve me, as this is a high end place, but still for them to have only one stylist and then they were unable to cut hair as the manager, or even book me in for days, when they were not even busy, it was just rude and it seemed they didn't want my business, and will try to do anything to get out of it. This place was nearly as expensive, if not on par with Toni and Guy costing £30 for a Gent's Cut, and £20 for just a Clipper cut, which I later found out on their website, which made me glad I didn't come here, especially considering the very poor customer service. Due to the way I was treated and the extremely high prices anyway, this salon doesn't even deserve 1 star, I really wanted to have a pleasant experience here before shopping at Waitrose, as it did look nice, being located in a nice run of shops but it simply wasn't.

I had been having my hair highlighted for over a year as a way to blend in greys as my dark hair…read morehad become resistant to dark hair dye. I went for a full set of highlights as I had at other salons giving the same explanation: that I wanted blonde highlights to make the grey hair less noticeable. What I ended up with was being *completely* blonde all over the bottom part of my hair: a shade of blonde that was extremely bright and I could not carry off being brown skinned. There were no gaps between the 'highlights': so much of my hair had been bleached that it looked solid blonde. I was in such shock after seeing the results in the mirror that I couldn't quite believe what had been done to my hair. I spent a few minutes sat in my car staring at my hair in the rear view mirror in horror then drove straight home as I looked so ridiculous I was embarrassed to be seen. I knew I could not leave my hair in that state as it looked so silly having bright blonde hair being brown skinned. I did some research online and discovered I would have to dye my hair red first to tone the blonde down then brown to cover it completely. I had to buy two packs of dye and spend hours fixing this at home. So I am now back to a one tone brown colour which I didn't want. The hairdresser didn't apologise for making me look so ridiculous: she just took the payment and didn't acknowledge it. I would not trust this person with my hair again.

That's what I need!' Had to wait six weeks for an appointment with him, but it really was worth it. Colin spent time talking about my hair, what I wanted, what would work, what wouldn't; what suited my face, what I liked, what I can cope with. In fact, Colin so obviously knew what he's talking about, there was no question but to let him get on with it. The result? A complete and utter stunning success! The amazing cut works perfectly, making my hair look thicker and bouncy without having to use handfuls of mousse (yuk!). And it's so easy to look after, now. Colin said that it'll need trimming in about 8 weeks (not 5 to 6 weeks, like most places). And I can have the fringe trimmed in 3 weeks -- for **FREE**!!! To sum up: A1, brilliant -- and I ain't going anywhere else!
