This is a beautiful bridge, which we encountered on our tour when driving from Dublin to Belfast. It's white and gleams brightly and the design is really quite striking with the two pylons standing tall in a sort of Art Deco-ish H style with the pylons then providing additional support.
Our tour guide mentioned that the area around the bridge has a heritage from which the whole Northern Ireland sectarian issue known as "The Troubles" arose. This is because right adjacent to the bridge, is the location where the Battle of the Boyne took place in 1690. William of Orange defeated his farther-in-law James's army, and the Irish Catholic lands were given to Protestants, thus creating the roots for the Irish civil war.
Our guide also mentioned that the bridge's formal name also honours the second woman who was a former President of Ireland, who came from Northern Ireland. This was apparently a recent name change however and to most of the locals, it still remains the Boyne Valley Bridge.
