It sounds like a cliche, but this place is not just a gym, it is a way of life. It is a family…read moreaffair. The gym owners run the place as a family. There are almost always children around, from grade schoolers all the way down to babies who are watching their pro dads (it's usually dads). From aspiring golden glove yunguns to fit older gentlemen, this gym is open to anyone who loves boxing and wants to work hard improving their skills. As a woman boxer, I felt at home almost from day one. I'm usually the only woman training, but I've never felt that to be a problem. Almost without exception, the men who train there are gentlemen and have treated me both with respect and friendship. Again, all that matters is a love of the sport. As a student, I disappear for months at a time during breaks, but whenever I'm back in Philly, I can't wait to get back to the gym. Having such a solid community makes you commit to your training. If my trainer Khalil weren't there asking me when I was coming in next, I don't know how many times I would have just opted to stay home and work a little longer or just laze around. This place makes training a lifestyle.

The training is top notch and you get personal attention. I love that the schedule is open so you can go whenever fits for your schedule. There is always a trainer at the gym to help you out. They also have all skill levels and not just fighters so they know how to cater to each individuals specific needs! It's a no frills gym where everyone is friendly and works hard together.

This place is really great. They are consistently highly ranked and after visiting, I see why…read more I went for self defense classes and found them to be dedicated to helping me get what I wanted. I attended a first session that happened to be fairly advanced. They followed up with me afterward and I told them that I was looking for something different, so they invited me to try another class the next week, and offered to work with me individually before the class too. I was so impressed by that personal touch, as well as how knowledgable and dynamic all the teachers are. I would absolutely recommend this place. Unfortunately I am unable to commit at this time because they charge by the month, not by class, and they want a 6 month commitment for self defense (which makes sense, to make you learn it well). Because I travel for work and am not in town all the time, it doesn't make sense financially, but if I were around and really wanted to get into it, it would be a great deal: for the flat fee, you can attend as many classes as you want. It's a great community of people there, and I really do hope to have the opportunity to take classes there if my situation changes.

CKO offers various classes from regular kickboxing to a more weights-centered session to fit everyone's fitness needs and goals. I also found it very convenient that CKO offers different classes that start as early as 6 am and as late as 8 pm, allowing me to cater my work out sessions around my regular schedule. The classes themselves are as difficult as you make them to be but you'll definitely always leave with a sweat and feeling great! The environment is friendly and encouraging as everyone is there with similar goals. The instructors have so far been fabulous and I appreciate that each of them has his/her own style, so you'll end up learning slightly different and new things from each one. A special shout out to Mike, who often works the desk, the morning instructors who are there bright and early in the morning (Ben, Mike, Andrew, and Jonathan), and of course, CKO's newest instructor, Krystal!

Front desk people wear really unkempt clothes and are not looking like they work at the gym. There was once a big roach on a desk at the front reception and a front desk personnel would not kill it. It was crawling all over desk. So I grabbed something that was on the desk and smashed it on that big roach. The front desk personnel thanked me for being so helpful. She then said she was not going to pick it up, but instead put a paper on it so others knew it was something to avoid. They have roaches there and I've seen a few. Their air conditioning recently stopped working too!!! My review still applies to instructor named Randon! This gym is lucky to have him. Because some other instructors there don't know what they are doing. With that said, I think I may be canceling this gym. I really want better looking gym with better conditions. They charge over a 100 dollar for memberships but that is over priced.

I've gotten leaner and stronger, and I know the right ways to do a bunch of exercises now that I wasn't really getting results from before. The circuits change frequently and I'm always challenged. So much better for my body! I'm no fighter, but I've been to a bunch of boxing and kickboxing classes elsewhere over the years. This is unlike anything I tried before. I love these heavy bag classes. I'm not just punching away. The trainer fine tunes each student. Learning proper skills has been a real difference. They also have instructional classes so you can learn the moves. Bonus: everyone is really nice. Not cheesy overly fake nice. but real people. No muscle heads or scary fight club vibes. Real people putting in the work... That matters to me.

We did a bag class which was a lot of punching intermixed with floor work including my most hated burpees. The class was challenging and educational. At the beginning of the class they wrap your hands and give you boxing gloves. The studio and gym space was large and did not feel crowded or hectic. I liked the fact that they had real gym equipment so even if there was not a class going on you could go there and work out. I was surprised to hear that they offered yoga and hit classes too. The gym is very affordable for all that it offers. We did an intro class but we are considering joining now. Thank you Randall!
