SO disappointed. WOW. Had the chance, for the first time in my life, to custom order a couple of…read morechairs that were JUST RIGHT for new house. shopped all around, wanted to keep it local to support hometown. Went to a couple of other stores in town and decided on Wynan's because of their long-time family business status. What could go wrong, right?? found the chairs we wanted, custom picked the color, size, pillows to the tune of $2600.
Aren't merchants always attentive when you're standing there with your credit card in hand? Was told it would be 4-6 weeks and they would deliver once they arrived - OK. Six weeks came and went, called, left message, finally made a trip to the store, left message for owner, no return call - week 8, another trip to the shop, told that the truck broke down, be patient, we were - week 9, called, should be here next week - finally week 10, Glen called and said they had arrived, he made an agreed upon modification and they were delivered on a Saturday.
We were only home for a couple of days and had to leave again for a couple of weeks. Upon returning and closely examining the chairs, the little one was fine, the big one left much to be desired in terms of construction and finishing. I asked the neighbors to come over and give me their opinion - Am I being too picky? or is this really subpar for the money I spent. Answer was a unanimous "Subpar". might be a different story if I just picked it up at a second-hand shop, but I didn't, they were custom made with a custom price.
I gathered up the courage to go back to the shop and explain the situation with pictures. When we first entered, we were greeted by Glen and a woman sales clerk, exchanged pleasantries and then I said, I'm sorry, and I don't mean to complain, but I do want to bring this to your attention. The woman, promptly turned around and clearly didn't want to be involved in any sort of complaint, and the look and demeaner from Glen changed dramatically. Suddenly we were the enemy! After politely explaining and transferring the pictures to his computer, he rigidly and begrudgingly said I guess I'll have to come have a look at it, what's your address again and I'll have to make time to come look. We gave the address (which is not far from the shop). well, that was nearly a month ago now. We felt like we went in with an issue that he might want to know about for a company that he uses and sells their products on a regular basis. He was downright AGITATED with us for bringing this to his attention. It's obvious that they aren't interested in any kind of follow-up customer service as we have not heard one peep from them. Will never buy another piece of furniture from Wynan's, and word of mouth spreads faster than any advertising. Super disappointed. Would have been a very quick fix, but we didn't deserve to be treated that way. In the words of Maya Angelou, "people will forget what you said and what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel". Consider the other stores in town if you're shopping, they have the same, better, more variety of furniture and much nicer customer service. Lesson learned.
