Came here to bowl with my family at a last minute thing to do. There was league play going on but they had a few lanes available for the public. We only needed one lane for four people. We rented shoes and had a blast. Bowling is very different now, automatic scoring, crazy not to use a pencil and do all the adding lol There's food and drinks available, good selection. Bowling is such a fun family activity. It has come a long way from the days of paper scoring and smoke filled lanes. This center has 16 or so lanes on opposite sides of the building with a bar, food counter, tables, and a few video games in between. One side is set up for Cosmic Bowling which includes low lighting, lasers, and a smoke machine which all add to a club vibe. The other side has regular lighting and is just as fun if you're not into the club ambiance. I don't like that it wasn't completely clear that it costs more per game to play on the Cosmic Bowling side. Not a huge deal but worth noting. I also would prefer if the bumper bowling was automatic. We have been to alleys where the bumpers come up automatically when the bumper bowler is up. It automatically retracts when that bowler is finished. Here at Bowl A Roll, you have one dedicated lane when you use two lanes and the bumper bowlers use the same lane the whole time and the non-bumper bowlers use the non-bumper lane. Overall, it's a super inexpensive way to spend a couple of hours bonding with the family. read more

Bowl a Roll was a good time. The bowling alley was clean and had that "bowling smell" in the air. There were a variety of ball weights for various bowlers to use. The staff was super nice and got our shoe rentals to us as quick as possible so we could begin speed bowling, which is just a bunch of our family members bowling as fast as they can to get the best bang for the unlimited bowling buck. The restrooms were tidy and the bar was well stocked. The score screens were responsive and the staff came over to help when we had an issue. read more

Just had my daughters 8th birthday here and it was great! We had just about 20 kids who celebrated with us and they all had an awesome time!

Decent lanes, Bad service. Few times i've been the floors and approach have been dirty and one lane server i believe their name is jim has been so rude and disrespectful it always feels like your causing a major inconvenience. And although super busy, the other players was friendly and respectful to the other players in other lanes. Service: Felt as if they were short on employees since everything too them a while. Do not recommend this place at all. Yes, it was Saturday night and busy, but their system for getting you on a lane is terrible. We should have called it a night early rather than waiting the 2.5hrs for us to finally get to bowl, but we honestly had nothing better to do. They did accommodate us by not having to pay for shoes, but they seriously need to rethink the way they do stuff. We seen the list, and for some reason people listed under us were crossed off first by the time we finally got called. They also have very few tables if you do happen to have to wait for a bit. Alright, I finally found an affordable, awesome bowling alley in the Rochester area. This business is fantastic. They have plenty of inexpensive food, beer, bowling, random games, and even scratch off ticket lottery. It's pretty well kept to boot. They were not very busy when I arrived, but, they were well "over-staffed" with multiple kind/friendly employees ready to assist. That tells me one key thing: their owner may have anticipated a busy day, and regardless, was not going to cut corners to reduce expenses at the risk of not having enough staff around. Affordable, quality bowling alley! We had a great experience when we tried this place on a whim. We were happy to see they were open on a Sunday so we gave it a shot. The staff was very attentive and friendly, the place was clean and well kept, and the rental shoes were great too! I was glad they offered half sizes. They have a full bar and food options which is nice, and although we didn't have anything this time we surely will on a return visit. The place is huge with more than 30 lanes! I was glad that the staff was friendly even when I wanted to pay to add another game to our lane when we were supposed to be done. I highly recommend this place :) read more

Came to bowl with my work team during the day. It seemed pretty busy. Nothing outstanding here. One of our bowlers requested the metal thing that you can push the ball off and was told that this item was for kids only. They have no idea why it was requested so we found this odd and obviously not good customer service wise. A few minutes later, someone did bring it over so that was good. Typical snack foods and soda. Since it was a work event, I can't say anything about the bar. Everything was ok but nothing that would make me seek this destination out unless there was a deal gong on. read more

We had a bad experience the last time, so we decided to give them a second chance; we will never be going back again. The first time they kept telling us that they were closing soon and we figured, we paid for so many games that we'd just play them even if we got cut off. However, the manager came over an hour about 4 minutes before closing and told us to not even start a new game because it would be pointless and we should just leave. It was funny because they didn't stop the other games happening around us. The second time, we went back just to kill some time and wanted to play two lanes, side by side at the same time. I mean, we've done this at other places before, as long as we pay for both and no customers were waiting for lanes (and trust me, they weren't) it never mattered. However, they cut our second screen off right after the first ball hit the pins! Came over and said "you know you're paying for two games right?" We explained what we wanted and they didn't fix it. We were also told that because of the slow business, the food and bar were closed and we're also reminded several times of when they closed and that we'd be cut off at closing time even if we were only halfway through. I suppose they didn't want our money? They even continued to clean the lanes next to us without acknowledging that we were there. That's probably why we were placed in the corner! I've also heard that college night is the worst because even if you show them your ID, and get the discount price, they treat you badly and kick you out before close. read more

I was planning to take my family bowling today. I called with a few questions but the person that answered the phone was rude and sarcastic! The questions were, what is the cost of each game, do I need to make reservations? Each question was answered with a sarcastic remark! If I could have found the answers on the website I would have, but the website doesn't give you any answers to those questions. When I asked some questions about how reservations worked, they responded with mockery, threatening stares and outright rudeness. Had the worst experience ever. Was insulted and told by the guy 'who called himself the boss' to 'do him a favour and never come back' because he had asked me to wait for the billing and another co worker of his called me at another counter saying 'he could help me'. So his motto is that if there is a communication gap between the ppl running the billing counters, shout at and insult the customer. He also mocked us by saying that he didn't know what would we do if they raised the prices. Nobody in the staff stood up with us even though clearly this 'boss' was being a jerk. Got a racist vibe. Bowling alleys are pretty much the same..and this one does what you would expect. A group of us showed up on a friday at 920 and were told to put our names on a list, and to wait until the leagues were finished which didn't take too long. Not sure if this is the case every night but the wait wasn't too long. The cosmic bowling with the light and the music was cool, definitely appeals to a younger crowd, prices seemed pretty cheap. I'd give this place another star if not for the rude obnoxious bartender who looked like an over the hill redneck with 2 teeth, bleach blond hair with way too much cheap gel or whatever in it. So I ordered a pitcher of beer which tasted like the inside of an ass..none of us could drink it. When I brought it back to her and explained, this troll shrugs her shoulders and says "Ive been selling it all night" and walks away. No offer to replace it, no apologies..nothing. We're talking about a pitcher of beer that cost about 6 or 7 dollars? You're going to piss off a group of paying customers who will probably never come back after getting your attitude? Another friend of mine who works in the food industry, went to the manager and explained the situation. He was nice enough to comp our shoe rentals, so for that I'm not making this a 1 star review. Oh this was fun. I and my group were here for a breast cancer event and it was well attended. We all got shoes and balls to use for the event and were quickly and respectfully taken care of at the counter. I hadn't been here in literally decades and Bowl-a-roll looks great! It is reminiscent of a 50's diner now.. all chrome and neon lights. There's a decent bunch of ur standard choices at the food counter... i liked seeing sweet potato fries on the menu.. slight nod towards something "healthy" for a bowling center. The bar was quite well stocked for a bowling center (my friend was so happy to get Malibu rum for her rum and coke) but they could have used 1 additional bartender for the event.. service, although expedient as was possible and gracious, was rather slow.. too many people to serve. Bathrooms were clean and obviously frequently looked in on for supplies and cleanliness. We were obviously there as part of a large group who were taken care of well but I'd love to come back with a group for a Friday or Saturday night fun thing to do during the winter. There's really no difference in bowling alleys in my mind, so this place offers pretty much the same as every other place, but at a more reasonable price. Staff member is extremely rude and disrespectful to customers. Came here to bowl just after 9pm during a week night to catch a deal going on (Quarter mania). When we arrived there were 12 lanes in a row open, but we were told by the front end staff member that we couldn't bowl. When we asked why we were told they were saving them for a league coming. No league ever showed - it was a lie. They finally let us on at 9:45pm when the remaining 4 league lanes on that side concluded. We paid the $5 cover for the night and 3 $.25 games. We finished our third game just before 10:30pm and asked if we could buy one more game (they close at 11pm). They said no because they close at 11pm. When we explained that our last game took less than 15 minutes they said they didn't care, they didn't need our quarters and we were done. Their "staff" isn't bad, it was honestly just the one staff member that acted like he owned the place and didn't care about customers that made the entire experience horrible. read more

This place is an absolute train wreck. Nothing screams "I don't care about the customers" quite like one man at the front desk. The amount of times my friends and I have gone there to be talked down on like we are children is unbelievable. This establishment has been severely under rated by the reviews here on yelp, we arrived at 9:45 and paid for shoes and a few games as it was a discount night, shoes were 50 cents games 50 cents hotdogs for a dollar and 50 cents for a soda, 4$ cover charge per person, the staff members were super polite, made jokes that made our 6 year old laugh when getting shoes and even offered to refund us for a game we paid for but didn't get to play before closing. Manager/owner actually screamed and shouted at my wife, who is 5 feet tall in heels, because our kids accidentally dropped a bowling ball on two occasions. No excuse to ever lose your temper to that extent, especially in front of young children. My uncle is a grown man with cerebral palsy and was told he cannot bowl 4 lanes away from the professional league because he was distracting. When my family asked if they could bowl near the other group of people with developmental disabilities, they were told NO because they are adults. My uncle is a grown man and was denied a service because of his disability. Will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, but I do recommend training your ENTIRE staff on how to treat people who are ""different"". I am disgusted with this service. read more
