Since we were not knowledgeable about violin, we completely trusted on them. However, I realized how bad the violin they rented was, and the strings and bow were old. Her tutor said that a rental store usually lends a violin with at least new strings and bow. It was a used Lark (brand). I found that the price for a used one was around $100 on ebay, but their selling price was more than $400. I terminated the contract after three months. It was not a pleasant experience.

I brought my antique horn to Moore Music Repair for a tune-up. It was in bad condition -- full of…read moretarnish, lots of small dents, and the valves were really noisy. Greg cleaned it, removed the small dents, realigned the valves, and made the valves operate smoothly and quietly. Then, he polished the silver so it looks as close to new as an antique horn could look. The tune-up took over a month, but it was definitely worth the wait. And, when I picked up the horn, he showed me where its previous owners had made modifications before I got it, which was very interesting.

He up-charged me when the work was finished from what he advertised on his site by $20. He also damaged the finish on my 10K plus guitar. Brought 4 guitars for set ups/restrings…read more One guitar had deadened spots/fret buzzing that I showed him when I dropped it off. When he was finished and I picked it up and tried it out, it played the exact same. Same buzz, same shitty action - more dead spots than before. He said he "didn't know" I wanted him to fix it but he stressed how much time he spent polishing the guitar. One guitar just needed a setup and action lowered. It plays the same and he couldn't remember what he did to it. One guitar was admittedly in not great shape - it's an old 80s warmoth tele that got a little dry over the winter and has crazy high action. He didn't touch the neck, "didn't know" if it had a truss rod or not, but replaced a pot and put $12 strings on it. It's completely unplayable - even he admitted that. He said it's a shame that I'll just have to throw it in the garbage. If that's the case, why replace the pot and strings and "intonate" it??? It's literally a lap steel at this point. This was the most expensive repair of the lot and it's completely unusable. If he had said he couldn't fix it, I would have understood. One guitar played great when I brought it in and still plays great. It had new strings when I brought it and he allegedly intonated it. I gently expressed my disappointment but he insisted he "spent so much time" on everything. I have no balls so I paid him the full $260 and left. He literally charged me $260 to restring (with strings I provided) and polish my guitars. TOTAL CROOK and I'm a chump for tucking my tail and paying in full. Don't let him take advantage of you!!! Update : he gave me some change back - so instead of flushing $260 down the toilet, it was only $240. My guitars still can't be played, but gotta make sure my review is 100% accurate!!
