While the main store in Crowfoot is a liquor super centre, this location is a little more like a general store. The selection is much smaller but they still do an impressive job at keeping the right products on hand so you can stop here for something craft or something common. The staff are friendly, mature and knowledgeable enough about their products to set them apart from any other liquor stores on 14th Street. While not high enough on the awesome scale to be one of Calgary's great destination liquor locations, this Crowfoot Liquor isn't trying to be. The set up of this place is kind of odd, there is a long counter that spans across half the store and people line up with the alcohol that they buy like they are waiting for coat check. Big cold beer area in the back, not much for wine though, perhaps 40 odd choices and I found the prices to be a bit high. Tons of regulars in here though, filling up their knapsacks and plastic bags with nourishment for the day. I find the prices at this liquor store a bit high however it was all about convenience this time. Purchased some beer and a few bottles of wine. Quick and easy. They have a fair amount of variety in this store and something for everyone. I could not find the beer that was required and noticed a guy/employee loading up the shelves in the cooler. I asked him for it and he advised me that they did have it in the back to put out on shelves but he wasn't going to be getting at it for a least a couple more hours. He was too busy putting out other beer. He was kind enough to suggest I can come back later, but in all honesty who goes to a liquor store to have to come back again in a couple hours? No one ever! I wish he could have just gone back to the back and grabbed a couple cases for me but he didn't make the suggestion, so instead I found something else that would have to work and only bought one case. Sorry, if I can't get the brand of beer I require and you do have it in store and just not on shelves, well I am going to buy the bear minimum of something else. You snooze, you lose. It's the mother of all wine stores, I plan to hide in here one night as the close up and go crazy!!!! No I kid, they would probably just let me. Man, this is place is huge! The tall shelves in rows upon rows feels more like a book store than a wine store. Browsing the selection is overwhelming. However, the staff on hand tonight was just fabulous. Really friendly and informative. Within 3 minutes of being in here, I've got a sampling of wine in my hand, being shown all the specials and sipping different flights of wine. The owner is hilarious, he was more concerned with having a good informative chat than to make a sell (which I love). Takes away from the stuffy bits I feel at other places. I can't believe this place isn't better known, it's right on MacLeod trail, beside guitar works and has every single bottle I have ever fathomed of guzzling or haven't fathomed yet. Huge selection it's worth mentioning again. Cooler in the back has a good selection of domestic and import beers as well, conveniently picked up some beers so I didn't have to make two stops. Webb Wine Merchants because then they sent the mothers to J. Webb for complimentary mimosa's and mixed with the champagne was juice from Cherry Pit in the Calgary Farmer's Market. Mom's also got discounts on wine that day. For the Father's Day event it was tires and tunes where there was a vintage car show. J. Webb Wine Merchant partnered with the Calgary Farmer's Market because they had the chance to look at a bottle and win prizes being either a howker or growler of beer or a gift card to J. Webb Wine Merchants. My Grandpa won a Growler of beer so we got the cup for free and then got to do beer samplings.

While they call themselves a wine market, they also have a few beer fridges and a growler filling station with four or five taps. A good chunk of the space has a bar where you can do wine tastings or sample from the beer taps. The staff are great and I've had excellent customer service every time I've been there. Yesterday I was picking up some beer and had three different employees compliment me on my choice of the Punch Bowl IPA I was carrying. It was a nice feeling even though the beer didn't match the rave reviews in my opinion. Being a wine market they don't have quite the beer selection that you'll find at places like Oak & Vine or Willow Park, but the selection they have is 100% craft and it's 100% excellent. You won't find any Budweiser here.

It tends to be a little more overpriced than the bigger stores but when the store is only a block away, sometimes the convenience makes up for it. The staff has always been in good spirits... pun intended... and they're willing to make recommendations when you need them. They will occasionally have a promotion on. One time I had to spend $X (cant remember the exact number) amount of dollars and I got a $10 gift card in return. Not too shabby. I will continue to pop in here to pick up beer for after one of my hockey games, or a couple bottles of wine when heading out to a dinner party. As one of the other reviewers mentioned they have a decent beer and cider selection, not so much in the craft beer department but they do a decent job keeping up with seasonal beer stocks. Hard liquor selection is good as well, just not much in the premium department. Wine selection is small but adequate. Staff here have always been nice anytime I've popped in, they never give me much grief and usually make some effort to be friendly or conversational. I think this is necessary for a smaller store as you tend to remember the experience more. Prices are on the higher side, but there are some deals that are usually located near the front. Drop by if it's convenient, driving to a bigger chain store to save $1-2 really isn't worth it if you're nearby, these guys will likely treat you better too. Other than that it's not a store to really go out of your for, as a liquor store it's just adequate.
