It is the second busiest train station in Paris after Gare du Nord, handling 100 million passengers a year. The station is quite large so it took me a while to walk from one end to the other to catch my train. This train station makes it easy to get to Giverny to visit the Monet house and garden. It took about 40 minutes. I'm so impressed by the mass transit in France and Europe.

Once inside, hold your breath. It smells like urine. Beware of people coming up to you to ask you random things. I had it happen a few times and it's a busy station! People are all over (kids, dogs, kids, suitcases). It's a busy place. The food selection is great and the shops are nice too. It's not the worst station or the best station I've been too. It runs on time and will get you to where you need to go.

There is a bus stop directly outside the station. Take bus #s 1, 3 or 4 to bring you closer to the palace area of Versailles, or you can take a ~17 min leisurely walk to see a bit of the town before hitting up the main attractions. *Total time takes about 40 minutes and you need to purchase a one-way or round trip zone 1-5 ticket, OR do an unlimited Mobilis one-day ticket for zones 1-5. If you do the train tickets only, and want to take the bus once you get to Versailles, then you need to purchase bus tickets for within 1 zone separately. Would suggest to buy all these in advance at your train station of origin to avoid having to figure it out later.

My nephew and I had planned a weekend trip to Luxembourg, and this station was the origination of the 2.5 hour high-speed trip, beginning early on a Saturday morning. We came from different places in Paris using Metro, and met up here. The walk from the Metro part of the station to the main central holding area takes a bit of time, with need to closely follow signs pointing to Gare de l'Est. About 24 minutes before the scheduled departure of our train, the platform number came up on the big board. At that point, we used the QR code from our purchased ticket to pass through the security gate of the platform. Then it was a long outdoor walk parallel to the train until one finds the correct car. We left right on-time. We came back to the same station from Luxembourg, and it was a simple matter of reversing direction back to the Metro side of the station to get back to our dorm/hotel.

The huge station that is many people's first impression of Disneyland Paris is actually quite OK as…read morestations go. It's very spacious and well lit (being mostly glass!). It can get a bit busy on the platforms or by the entrance exit gates to the trains, at the peak times, but people soon disperse. Is served most notably by the Eurostar and the very useful RER A which runs across Paris, but also but my numerous TGV services which I simply cannot be bothered to look up. There are a few little shops and kiosks dotted around which, while overpriced, can be a good place to stock up on snacks and drinks before going into the park, where food is naturally even more expensive.

The room was well appointed, with amazing views. Since it's no longer SPG, I haven't found the same customer service in the US but in this hotel, it was pretty amazing. The manager came and welcome me by name, offered a drink at the bar until my room was ready, walked me to the elevator. It was unreal. Again, in the US it's almost no difference the way I've been treated especially since Marriott took over. I was about to give up on it but I might keep points only for trips in Europe. We had diner a Cafe de la Paix, it was a fabulous experience. The outdoor experience is a scratch for a few months as they are renovating.

Noted some 1 star review about not able to check in at 8:30am after a long flight. Ok. 8:30am. :-) also saw review about honeymooners checked in to an upgraded suite but expected more space. This is Paris, people! Ran by some high energy younger staff, everyone here are doers, want more coffee capsules, ordered in the app, delivered to room within minutes. Want extra wine glasses, same fast delivery. Changed reservation in the app from 2 twin beds to a queen bed, done! Loved it.
