I worked at Ashland Jail and the inmates have better living conditions than the dog cages they have back there. The entire back area of that place looks dirty. And speaking of dirt, when I picked my dog up he had some dirt on him and he smelled like urine and feces. He was peeking over the jail-cell like blinds on his kennel door, and I could tell he was shaking in fear. The room had no outside view, no TV, no radio, and was cold. Most boarding places I've used will give him a bath, trim his nails, and put a cute bandana on him. None of that is true with Cajun Canine. I kind of believe they just tossed him in the cage and forgot about him. He ate like a wild beast when I finally got him home, and he downed almost 4 cups of water. That's also unlike him. They also tried to rush me to pick him up because they have really weird hours. I was in Lafayette when I got a call asking me to pick him up at 1pm instead of the agreed upon 4pm because they had a bunch of cancellations today. I was trying to work with the woman and we ended up agreeing to 3pm. Which means we had to cut our plans short. Well Lafayette traffic is insane and I ended up being 30 minutes late. I was in Gibson at 3pm when the girl called and said she was there waiting for me and wasn't going to be there much longer. Her reason was that she had plans and she was very adamant in saying she wasn't going to be there much longer. So what am I supposed to do? Pay for another night because your day was slow? You have a business and it provides a service. I paid for that service and I expect you to render it. You having personal plans is none of my concern and it shouldn't affect anything. Finally, she mentioned that she doesn't think he'd be accepted back there anymore because he was too scared and didn't want to interact with anyone. Which is really unlike my dog because he loves everyone and is a playful, happy, and social puppy. That was just her way of trying to get back at me for ruining her Thursday night plans by 30 minutes. Heaven forbid. But... you know the saying. If my dog doesn't like you - neither do I. One star.

We just lost one of our dogs that was 16 years old in the middle of the night unexpectedly. The comfort and support when we visited with our other dog was just amazing. Not only are they extremely knowledgeable but they are also extremely compassionate.

They got a spa bath before we picked them up & they smelled wonderful. Joanie had everything ready to go when we got there. The pups were happy & adjusted well back home. She told my wife that they would need to cut out the knots in her fur, she asked if that was an additional cost she was told that it was $40 but was included in the basic price of $52. They also said that Tuesday was Senior Citizen Day (10% discount). Later they called and said that Sophie was ready, my wife called back and they told her the cost would be $92 (WHAT!!). She spoke with the manager of the department and explained the situation, she said that nothing could be done and that was the cost. My wife then asked to speak with the store manager, she explained the situation and after going back and forth for quite some time the manager said that they would only charge $52 but that we could not bring Sophie back to Pet Smart in Houma. That should be the end of the story but no... My daughter picked up Sophie and was shocked when she saw her, her cut was patchy, she had blood spots on her skin, her tail was bald and the usual ribbon was not in her hair. Considering that they had spoken with my wife after they were finished I hope that they were not charging $92 for the messed up cut they gave Sophie but I also hope that they didn't decide to gouge her up after she complained about the amount they charged. Either way, we will NEVER bring her back to this butcher shop and strongly suggest that no one else bring their fur baby there. You have been warned.
