They have a charming old-fashioned soda fountain tucked toward the back of the store. The prices were reasonable, and ordering was quick, although the employee wasn't particularly engaging. After I placed my order and paid, he simply set it on the counter and walked away. I tried the old-fashioned ginger ale, which was surprisingly good. It tasted lighter and a bit sweeter than the modern canned versions I'm used to. The ice cream was also delicious and definitely hit the spot on a hot day. Beyond the soda fountain, the store itself is fun to browse, with plenty of souvenirs, nostalgic candies, and unique gifts. There's also a museum on the second floor that adds to the experience. Overall, it's a worthwhile stop if you're exploring Beale Street and looking for a refreshing treat along with a little local history.

No worries, Memphians. I have found a jewelry boutique I love! A friend of mine took me to a small boutique in Laurelwood shopping center called Turkoyz. While I had my hesitations, mainly because I thought it might be overpriced and even more because turquoise is not spelled with a "y" or "z" (I'm a big proponent of correct spelling), I went with her anyways. She went on and on about how much jewelry they had and what great prices there were. And, yes, she was right! The store is filled with all types of jewelry, scarves, purses, wallets, home decor and more. I bought over half of my Christmas gifts in there, and I keep buying! They have great pieces, and it's one of my favorite places to shop. Consider buying your next piece of jewelry or gift for a friend there. You will love what they have! Warning: Men, this is not a place for you to browse and find things that interest you. However, I guarantee a woman in your life would love for you to take her there.

I guarantee you'll find something - whether it's for yourself or a friend. One of my favorite things about this place is the build your own necklace or bracelet table they have. You pick out your chain (silver or gold) and then add the charms. They have initials, different colored charms, sorority charms, etc. These make perfect gifts for any woman or girl in your life! I wished I had discovered this place before I got married - perfect bridesmaid gifts. :) Turkoyz is conveniently located in the Laurelwood Shopping Center off Poplar and they have the friendliest staff. They've got about 400 pieces, and each one is printed locally. All of the Lemon Tree Paper invitations, cards, and notes are available at Mrs. Post. My favorite thing about the shop was the small, but well thought out collection of gifts. There's a lot of whimsy in a small space. I was totally smitten with the Jonathan Adler whale shaped salt and pepper shakers and the surprise balls (the package reads "to enjoy, please destroy").
