This the best bakery that I have ever been to, and I will die on this hill…read more
I was wandering Lyon after seeing the Murs des Canuts mural, when I smelled the absolute most delicious bread wafting from a side street. I wasn't even hungry at the time, but without a second thought, I went inside the bakery and ordered a chocolate-and-almond croissant. This pastry is easily the best thing that I'd eaten on my month-long trip in Europe, and likely all the times that I'd been to Europe. It came in the shape of a traditional pain au chocolate, but the the top had shards of roasted almonds while the inside was filled both almond paste and dark chocolate strips. It was so good that I almost, almost ordered a second one until I decided to think of my health and ordered a standard croissant instead. The croissant was also fantastic, just not as amazing as the chocolate-almond croissant.
I almost didn't know what this bakery was called, since it only had a 'P' logo in front of its door, but thankfully Google Maps helped me find it. It's a very small bakery that already had a small line forming out the door after I finished my croissant.
Cash only!
Also, it's cash-only! I believe I spent less than 4 euros on the two pastries.
