We got the pain au chocolat and butter croissant. The pastries here are, in my opinion, a great price (less than 4 euro total for both). The pain au chocolat had an ample amount of chocolate inside, was crispy on the inside, and soft on the inside. The butter croissant was airy and flaky. There are plenty of other pastry options within the shop to choose from - would definitely recommend stopping by if in Lyon!

I stopped by around 1pm on a Monday and there was about 3-4 people in front of me, but it moved quickly. The staff were super friendly, and they spoke English as well. They had so many delicious looking pastries and savory items. I'd heard that Lyon is known for this pastry, brioche praline, so I wanted to try it out. I personally wasn't a fan of the taste. Just not my cup of tea, but I'm sure the other pastries were good. I'd come back and try other items.

I wasn't even hungry at the time, but without a second thought, I went inside the bakery and ordered a chocolate-and-almond croissant. This pastry is easily the best thing that I'd eaten on my month-long trip in Europe, and likely all the times that I'd been to Europe. It came in the shape of a traditional pain au chocolate, but the the top had shards of roasted almonds while the inside was filled both almond paste and dark chocolate strips. It was so good that I almost, almost ordered a second one until I decided to think of my health and ordered a standard croissant instead. The croissant was also fantastic, just not as amazing as the chocolate-almond croissant. I almost didn't know what this bakery was called, since it only had a 'P' logo in front of its door, but thankfully Google Maps helped me find it. It's a very small bakery that already had a small line forming out the door after I finished my croissant. Cash only! Also, it's cash-only! I believe I spent less than 4 euros on the two pastries.

One of best croissants I've ever had - so light and layered and crispy. Pain au chocolat also very good. A thin apple tart was crispy on the bottom and layered with super thin slivers of apples- wonderful. The almond croissant was good not great- a bit too sweet somehow. As this is our first morning in Lyon we will certainly be back for the rest of the week to try more and more especially since it is fortunately just around the corner. Very helpful and friendly man spoke good English and humored my French in a nice way.

Atmosphere - Part of the Les Halles de Lyon - Halles Paul Bocuse. This a food market, each place with their own little food niche. They are the pastry shop of the "mall". So we ordered some pastries and headed to the coffee shop. Food Drink - Coffee from the neighboring coffee place. Sorry I do not know the name of the place. Breakfast - The main piece I had was the loaf of bread, brioche. It was moist, soft, and airy. Went well with the coffee. I also had small amount of the croissant, buttery flavor oozed out from the issue bread. The blueberry tart was a disappointment as it was served frozen, it thawed fast but why did they freeze it? Service - For a small place the line was always present. They were pleasant behind the counter. Future - Sure.

At €2.95 each, it's not cheap compared to croissants and bread, though it is much more labor intensive. Skip the pain au chocolat, but the more unique eclair is worth trying. Staff is friendly. This was mainly a bakery (boulangerie) but their bread was incredible - perfect, crusty, crunchy crusts. Their rye bread (avec farine de siegle) still blows my mind. Comes in a large or small circular loaf with thick, textured crust and an impressively soft, moist center. Prices are comparable to other bakeries (which are pretty similar across France for bread). If you're looking for fresh bread in this area I absolutely recommend you come here !
