Plonked in the heart of industrial Belfast is the Boucher Plaza Bistro. At first it seems a little out of place. A classy black facade with plush interior with great minimal branding doesn't quite fit with the traditional rustic chippy van that you'd expect in this area. Anyway, I for one think it is a welcome change.
I actually went here yesterday to meet a friend who was working at Boucher Road. I had passed by a few times and that classy branding I mentioned before caught my eye. We went in here to grab a quite bite around 2pm, just after peak time I suppose, and the place was quite quiet. The service was excellent. The chap working (on his own I think) rushed right over to take our drinks order. I had a flat white which was lovely. Whilst we waited to make our food order I had a look around. They have an ice cream kiosk, plenty of seating and a huge flat screen on the wall showing Sky News.
The waiter ran us through all the specials, there were a lot but I opted for the lasagne. The waiter generously put a few chips on the side to go with the salad. Oddly my friend pointed out that the lasagne had carrots in it, I found this strange but it was delicious.
Overall I loved the place - really classy and a nice pit stop for anyone working at Boucher or shopping at Boucher for that matter. Really enjoyed it! read more
