If you're looking for coffee, speciality coffee, and people who know how to do it right, well then BOUCHE. The wife and I went here for a Sunday afternoon pick me up. We'd seen the spot before it opened and once we found out it was going to be a speciality coffee shop, I was pretty excited to check it out.
We actually ordered two rounds of drinks. I started off with a flat white and the wife got their chai tea latte. The flat white was perfect. Great crema. One of the best I've had in Brussels. They had two varieties of coffee at the times, and the guy who took our order was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had a sip of the chai tea latte as well... Also really well done.
We watched the place fill up and stay full the entire time we were there. We actually sat at a table intended for pour over coffee, but because there wasn't any other places to sit, it was fine with them. It was fascinating to overhear the guy next to me though, who was in to pour over coffee, and how the guy who took our order walked him though their select, specially vacuum packed, small bags of beans. I definitely want to come back and have that experience.
The wife was interested in their single origin teas, as we had seen them around before, so she tried an oolong from India, and having never tried an authentic matcha, I got a matcha latte, as I figured they would know how to do it right. It's not for me, but I see the appeal and I believe, after watching them make it, it was done properly. No strikes against them.
Great spot. Don't be surprised if it's full on a Sunday afternoon. May have to wait a bit. Didn't try their food, but they also have some cookies. read more
