We have paid 100 pounds for a night in Bosworth Hall Hotel with breakfast and dinner already included. Me and my wife love short trips in the countryside and now that we have 2 sons, we expect to pay a bit more for a stay. I was a little over the moon to have thought that we have found a bargain in this hotel. From the website all was beautiful and pristine with a grandiose looking building in the middle of a well manicured lawn I couldn't fault it. And when we arrived everything was looking very impressive, from the outside all until just about the reception! Beyond that what we saw were old almost mouldy carpets. A little too empty looking bar and a cafe in need of restoration. We have dismissed that searching for our rooms hoping that we have chosen a lovely place to stay. We were wrong. We must admit the room they have given us was really massive as big as a flat here in London it looked like a duke's master's bedroom 100 years ago and that's how exactly it felt like it hasn't been refurbished for a lot of years. Dusty skirting boards and a falling headboard which was not safe at all for my kids and even me and my wife. I have reported it to the reception but about half an hour and nobody has even bothered to come and check it for us. So we asked if they can transfer to another room which was a bit smaller but newer. Atleast we have enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi the water was warm enough for my 2 little boys. As we finished swimming that late we were starving, we were quite contented to think we have secured a buffet dinner for us so we didn't need to get out of the hotel to find a place to eat. Me and my wife are both chefs so we are very particular with the food. We don't expect the food in this hotel to be gourmet at all but atleast we expected it to be decent, when we arrived at the carvery and saw the buffet selection or lack of in front of us all I could think of was 'Hospital Food' even hospital food tastes better than what we had we were just too hungry and it was too late to go out and find a better place to eat. Everything seemed like they were straight out of tins especially the sauces, unidentifiable soup which bland and creepy looking, shrivelled chips, dehydrated vegetables and meat, dark coloured mushrooms swimming in a sauce that I couldn't even taste no onion or any seasoning that experience was depressing. I hope the management snaps out of its sleep and take immediate action as almost everything seemed empty or lack of a bit of inspiration in that hotel. read more
