I have an accountant, a financial planner, a PCP, a mechanic, a physical trainer, a house keeper, and a spiritual mentor. But for 15 years I've given cyber space the matters of my heart. Why do I pay for and trust these specialists to care for the vital aspects of my life? Because I have a relationship with every one of them. They know me, care about me, value my input and I gain from theirs. In January, I faced another "no call no show" date from the internet. Frustrated, I dove back into cyberspace to "try again". I accidentally clicked on a computer link, to Boston Match Makers. They called before I finished filling out the form. I was stunned when the phone rang, I did not know BMM were real people. I meant just to try "another dating site". I booked an interview for the next day with Brenen. I sat with her with all my professionalism, the interview was under control, because, I am such a talent! The last thing I said..."And if I spend the rest of my life alone, I'll be okay," my montra for the past decade. Bremen's reply..."Then why are you here? I don't want you as a client if that is your truth." Gone was my guard, this gifted woman, asked me the question I had been avoiding? Is being alone really okay? No longer sitting upright and in charge, I sat back, opened my heart to this specialist and said, Help me! I now have a specialist caring for the matters of my heart. Nothing could more appropriate for my life. I spent $10,000, which I had to take out a loan to pay for. At first I panicked and Brenen talked me in off the cliff. Then I became demanding for immediate results. Like a fearful child. It is now July. I understand patience and the process I have a beautiful relationship with Brenen. I know she is fully committed to my ultimate happiness. It is her professional purpose. I have shared so much with this woman. We have laughed and cried together. There is nothing more challenging than matters of the heart. Invest my money, pay my taxes, tune up my car, even build my body...I pay professionals to manage them. The greatest shift in my life came at the age of 59, Invest in a relationship to find a lasting one. read more

I too was scammed by BMM. BMM take your money and set you up with whomever is available at that time. BMM did not bother to follow the outlines of what I was interested with meeting. I did also contact the Att. General's Office. BMM is dragging their feet on this matter. read more

I'm going this 2 stars instead of 1 only because I really do feel like the people there care about the clients. But the service I received is not the service I signed up for. They promise matching based on compatibility, and that's not what you get. I got matched with people based on demographics and age, and in most cases I think that's it. I didn't have much in common with most of my matches. In one case we literally looked awkwardly at each other for the entire date. Someone else just didn't have time to meet. I realize part of the problem is I'm eccentric, but I was assured they had eccentric women. If you're mainstream enough for this to work for you, you probably don't need it. eHarmony will be fine for a fraction of the cost. I realize they can only work with what they have, but they failed to screen for some basic characteristics. For example, I said I wanted someone non-religious who didn't want any (more) children. So they matched me with a woman that I had decent chemistry with, but she went to women's bible study and took her daughter to church weekly, and wanted someone religious. Then they matched me with someone super conservative who went to church weekly and wanted children, who, in a roundabout way, suggested the shooting at Pulse nightclub was a punishment for sin. Then they matched me with someone I really liked and might have had potential with, but she broke my heart... because she wanted children. I asked them: "Why are you matching me with women who want children when you know I've had a vasectomy?" Their reply: "A lot of women your age want children." Huh? It took me a month to feel like myself again after that. They gave me a few "do-overs" to make up for the bad matches, but I eventually ran out of matches. They contacted me and gave me a good deal to get unlimited matches for a year. That was 4 months ago. I haven't heard from them since. I suppose unlimited matches doesn't necessarily mean any. There is nothing that will make you feel more alone in the world than dropping a few thousand to meet someone and coming up empty-handed. It pains me to think what better uses I could have put that money to. It could have been an amazing vacation. read more

If I could give no stars - I would. I signed up with this company and they set me up with a lying con artist with a psycho ex who I have had to take to court NUMEROUS times. When I tried to get my money back, I got the line, "well, these things happen". I paid good money for background checks and quality dates....what I got was trash. They simply want your money and do not care for their clients. read more

By far the most expensive dating service so you expect to meet quality people. NO. One date was an uber driving and his car was held together with duct tape. This was the WORST "investment" I ever made. A friend joined up because she was having trouble meeting men of the same background as we are (highly educated, financially secure, social) so she joined Boston Matchmakers. After she told me what she learned in the intake and how excited she was, I joined a few days later because I thought this would be a great way to meet someone with long term potential. I was so clear on what I was looking for. A single man, with a good education, a job where he could support himself that wanted children. And they've come back with men that have a "slight hand tremor", are socially awkward, horrible halitosis, unemployed, unsure if they'd be open to kids. I've gone on two dates in almost 10 months. They've called me to meet men that don't want children 4 times. I have written to them that was a DEALBREAKER and yet they market these men to me as having great compatibility. The most recent call was on 7/22/15. Both my friend and I have consistently complained that we are not getting the service that was sold to us, and if I treated my clients this way I would be out of a job. They tell me to be patient, it's part of the fine tuning process. This is total BS. Fine tuning is one thing, not even getting in the ballpark is another. They tell me I am not supposed to talk to others about the process. The reason they don't want you to talk about it is because the truth would get out. This is their business model. Take your money and then deliver crap. If I could go back and not fall for the pitch I would because this is a substantial amount of money I'll never get any return on. If you're considering working with Boston Matchmakers do yourself a favor. Save your money and pick up a hobby. You'll have so much better luck. If you were unlucky enough to have given them money contact me at 7814209497 or at bostonmatchmakersscam@gmail.com. I'm engaging with resources that will expose this "company" for the fraudulent thieves they are. The more the merrier! And more powerful. read more

I am glad I went with my gut and did not invest in this service. What started out as a very nice conversation at their [rented] makeshift office in downtown Boston, turned into a confrontational, uncomfortable, unprofessional sales pitch. Starting price 7 GRAND for a handful of referrals. When I admitted this was a bit of a sticker shock, she quickly knocked it down to 3k. At this point Im questioning the "value" altogether. What was most concerning was she couldnt speak to any specifics regarding number of men in their portfolio, demographics, or any experiences of other singletons investing in this service. Mostly, I didnt appreciate a polite genuine conversation regarding my needs turning into a confrontational sales pitch. Save your money. read more

Hi: I joined Boston Matchmakers thinking I could meet quality men fitting my criteria. After filling out several forms and being interviewed, I indicated what sort of men I wanted to meet for dating. I was given 4 dates to the tune of $1500. ( Was told that I got a bargain- as some people were paying up to $5000) I met my first date. My date could not be further than what I was looking for. We had no interests in common what soever. In fact, I indicated what I did not want for criteria, and yet this company matched me with someone with the opposite of what I asked for. When I called them and gave them feedback, they said it was hard to find men my age with what i was looking for. So for $1500, I received the opposite of what I wanted. When I tried to cancel my membership, they said I would still have to pay $500 as a deposit and 2 ($50) monthly payments! I called my credit cart company and they put a block on payment. However, I am not sure what the final outcome will be. THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL RIP OFF! THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANYTHING FOR THE MONEY I PAID! I can do much better on a free dating site than with this company. I hope I can warn people of this scam before anyone else is burned. Sad and unhappy customer. JF read more

Hi, I wanted to update you all. So from my 93A letter I sent to Boston Match Makers, Martha has come back and said that BMM will refund me 1/2 of the purchase price. Martha mentioned that she presented my case to "management" and this is all they were willing to do. Naturally, I asked Martha to send me the documentation of what was presented and I haven't heard back from Boston Match Makers. I am thinking I never will. I have heard back from the attorney generals office and they stated they are looking into this and will contact Boston Match Makers. You can also fill out a complaint at: http://www.mass.gov/ago/consumer-resources/filing-a-complaint-with-the-attorney-generals.html The Attorney Generals office has informed me that if enough legitimate complaints are filed, it is more likely they will formally look into all of the complaints. I paid a lot of money and I am still getting nothing from Boston Match Makers; as a consumer I have every right to see what was presented to the "management" at BMM that would allow them to decide I should only get 1/2 my money back. As usual, BMM is unethical and can't document anything - just more indicators that they are not legit. read more

When you get them on the phone to complain or ask where all these matches are they give you total lip service and promise they are looking for you which is totally different then when you pay them a huge amount of $$ and they say "Oh we have several candidates on file". I have found working with Brenan @ Boston Matchmakers a joy and am very surprised at the negative reviews. My experience was positive. I was matched with quality gentlemen who fit the criteria. They were my equal, plus more. When compared with It's just Lunch, IJL, (which I have also tried) IJL does not listen and has NO inventory to select from! When you refuse a date from them, they get snarky with you! IJL will match you with anyone just to keep you quiet! I was matched with someone who did not like to go out at night or drive farther than 10 minutes. I lived 40 minutes away & worked days! Really IJL? Now, that is a rip off! My own experience seems vastly different than most reviews I see. Mine was awesome from the Braintree office with Brenan McGarrigle! I interviewed for an hour and a half with her and she was so positive and upbeat I couldn't help but be excited! It's like anything else in life, you get what you give. I was honest and forthright in what I was looking for and after each date I filled out the review with the pros and cons. I had six introductions and Brenan called me to review and refine my feedback after each one. I thought that was incredible. Follow the advice and give detailed feedback and the matches get better. My sixth introduction was my last one. We've been dating exclusively for three months and love is in the air.! I agree with all of the Reviews. I joined 3 yrs. ago. Lost $2,500. Was supposed to get 5 referrals. It was a total waste of Money. The first person they had me with was someone who was so ill, he couldn't even walk. He had other problems also. I'm active and healthy, and it was a slap in the face! They don't care who they put you with, they just want your money upfront. I would not sign a contract with them, as it is hard to get your money back. Terrible communication. Four months without contact. Apparently there was a staff change, so that's why I had no contact. Voicemails I left went unanswered. These people are truly scam artists and will take your money. Also be careful to change your banking information when you try to stop the service. Please do not waste your money on BMM. It is a scam. I signed up for 14 dates over a year ago and have only been on 4 although I was told there were hundreds of men in my age range and meeting my criteria before I signed up. One of the dates showed up with a stained sweat sheet on and had missing teeth. When I complained they stated they would not count this as one of my dates. Little compensation as I have 10 to go and wasted my time. I did file a complaint with the MA Attorney General's office hoping to work on some arbitration. I was even willing to donate the money to charity. BMM responded they were surprised to hear I was not satisfied despite having escalated to their legal council on at least 2 occasions and refused my request. They stated they would provide me with 2 additional dates. Yes, let's add insult to injury. I wouldn't be here if they could provide me dates. At this rate it will take me over 4 years for them to fullfil my dating contract. Although not in my best interest to discourage people from joining, I'd rather save others from the frustration I went through. read more

I joined this match making service over year ago thinking this was a smart investment for my future. I paid $2000 to be matched with four potential matches. I spent approximately four hours with sue - one of the match makers who is currently not with the company. She asked me in depth questions about my work, my likes, dislikes, what I am looking for, past relationships, my goals, etc. I was finally matched two months later- with a man who was nice but had no chemistry with me. My next match came three months later- with a man I never met because of a language barrier - I couldn't understand a word he said over the phone. I was sent his profile Like the first match over email and he didn't fit with what I asked for or wrote in my profile. The next match came after four more months -to someone who had nothing in common with me. I called to complain about the lack of matching me with people who could truly potentially be a match for me. No one ever called me back other than to send me another match. This time they set me up with someone who shared my racial background but again he was not a good fit for me and it was clear- we never met. They matched me with the last guy as a bad attempt to do their job. My take on this company is they are not in this to find their clients a match but instead to take your money. They didn't listen to one word I said and presented matches to me I could of found on plenty of fish for free. I was looking for getting introduced to quality men that I was not finding on my own. They took my money and did not provide me with any services. Before I see a match maker again I will need references. Please do not use their service. Give your money to charity instead of throwing it away using this useless service. read more

Keep getting calls from these people as if they know me and I spoke with them. Well it turns out I made the mistake of giving them my phone number from pop-up add for a dating site I thought was free. Anyway they call from disconnected numbers ie 978-699-3047. They kept calling from other different numbers but I called one back because I thought it was a call for my services (my sm business) but it was a man who calls himself Richard and they tell you who they are and ask a few basic questions as their screening process. How old am I, where do I live, what age do I prefer... a very basic process. They tell you to come it the same day as they have an opening. Right off the from that point on they make the appointment telling you to bring your checking account information ie a check book and also a debit or credit card "in order to verify who I am along with my driver's license". This is a BIG RED FLAG for me and I will not be coming to my appointment for that reason and also that they numbers they call from are sometimes phantom caller ID numbers. ANOTHER BIG RED FLAG. After reading what I see here I thought I'd share the initial process so far. I just won't open the doors of some stranger into my finances regardless of the services. Just sounds like they only want the big money with doing the mininum. Glad I am not going now. read more

Warning... to anyone who is thinking of joining Boston Match Makers. After doing online dating with no success I joined B.M.M almost a year ago, I was interviewed for 3 hours with a matching consultant. She understood that I am a 47 year old woman who is a buisnessowner, educated and single with no children. I explained that I wanted to meet a companion that is my equal with either grown or no children. After the consultant told me of all the successful stories, she finally convinced me that the $7000 package will be the best to find me the "perfect" match. My first match was a married man with young children on his way to sparating with his wife which of course I refused. Then I didn't hear from them for few months, so I called and they said winter is low with match inventory. So I waited and waited and everytime I called wondering of why I am being ignored they would threw (un)matches at me just to keep me quite. Eventually, with months of waiting I only went on 1 date and the whole time I wondered how this man can even be a close match. Finally, they said they're having hard time matching me for the reason that men are turrned off by my religious background. So to test the match-maker theory, I removed that part from my profile and of course it was just an excuse. Because guess what! Still no matches. I tried to ask for my money back and they refused. I believe that Boston Match Makers are liars and thiefs that feed on innocent people's money. read more

Not off to a very good start. I joined in the beginning of March. First match, no car, no license, lives far away, didn't want to meet me... 2nd match,Originally from another country, very hard to understand. I was told he knew all about me and wanted to meet me. NOPE he said he spoke to them after they called me. He also told me that they begged him to join because they have a 5 to 1 women to men ratio. And.. the profession that they said he works in, nope, he works in a factory, newly separated and really not ready. Not in the least bit my type. Nice man though. Lived way too far away also. 1 hour at least, they told me 45 minutes. I have met better men on match.com so far and that is a pathetic site! I was fed all the same bull as all the other reviews on here. I would like my money back but its not going to happen. I have tried already, tried the next day after joining. This service was a waste of my money. Signing up was great back in September 2015. I have not been on 1 date till this day. I was told to increase my chances to get a date that I have to want to date my own kind which was African American. The first match I had, he was not interested in meeting because he was more into gambling with friends and going to the casino. Since they said to try to date my own kind, I agree and they quickly match me up with a man that wanted our first date to be at Dunkin Donuts. The third date never heard anything from him. So I was feed up and requested my money back to end this contract. They keep giving me the run around and that they didn't have a corporate headquarter blah blah. So I took matter into my own hand. Contacted my Discover credit card and ask them to investigate the charge on my account cause I'm not satisfied with the service. I gave the run down and they agreed and now the fight begin. First these people don't have any of my preference for me. I'm religious and the 3 man they try to match me with seems to be atheist. I'm not going to change my believe neither. I pay for such expensive and nothing. I think I could of been better off on Christian mingle. Also on my credit card they are listed as dating/ escort service. I hope you guys can see the distaste I'm feeling for them. read more

I don't understand all this negativity surrounding Brenan- she matched me with men that fit my description and I went on dates with guys I approved of. It's all about timing. I am a guy that sign up for BMM and found my wife. Now I did Match, POF, e harm , and a few others , I can truly say the Brenan was very good at what she does but with that you need to keep a open mind instead of flying off the handle and blaming BMM, it would of been easy to stop by BMM and say the dates are not being match correctly face to face. I read in the reviews that many called and e mailed BMM, now that got me thinking that you went there for the interview and did there test evaluation thing that they gives BMM help to match you with people and sit for 90min with them. Now if I was not getting the right fit, I would see BMM face to face and say hey lets meet to revisit me and my profile and the people that your setting me up are way off base, ("so these reviews say") what would it cost BMM to give another 3 dates it would cost? NOTHING it would cost BMM nothing. To me you had a few bad dates ok that's life, did you really think the you would have a "One and Done." Ladies wake up, its all about timing these are match makers not your fairy godmother. You win some and you lose some, but then you move on .Can you truly sit back and think back to the interview process, where you completely honest with every question or did you fib a little on anything most people fib because your telling a complete stranger what you want but not telling the whole truth about yourself.( like I'm a moderate drinker but you have 6 six drinks on your first date or I am open minded women and love to do or try new things but the minute a guy tells you what he is into, if its not you cup of tea you ladies run for the hills blaming BMM and the people who work there like a witch hunt, when it could mostly be your own insecurity's . Brenan and the people at BMM did a great job for myself I found my wife now do you think it was perfect? guess what Reviewers **NEWS FLASH** no it wasn't we had some things to work on. The both of us are not perfect but that's why we love each other and we work on our relationship everyday because we love the perfect and not so perfect days in each other. People are human not perfect , if we had just perfect and everything was always in place after awhile utopia would start to look little dim and boring and not so perfect. So BMM thank you for finding my perfect match in a imperfect world. Krisite is my angel .. and for the negative reviewers if I can give some advice .. By a mirror and look deep into it that's right really deep get as close as you can. The closer you get you will start to see that your not that perfect and you come with baggage , quirks, annoying behaviors, and maybe your not as fit as you think you are. But there is hope still out there for you because with all the issues you have someone in this imperfect world will cherish each one them but for now give it "time". If I could give 1/2 a star I would. After a long, intense interview, I handed over a check with the promise that if I had even a little concern, I should call and would have someone to talk to. After giving the check, I had a real panic attack and contacted them requesting a call and to NOT cash my check. Of course they cashed the check and did not call. The next day I got a call from the saleswoman who claims to be a counselor. The long and the short of it was she got me to agree to postpone my membership. Due to the extreme anxiety (I am a widow and have not been on any dates since my husband passed) I started to see a therapist. Long story short, I was not ready for this and contacted them to cancel my membership and get a refund. After two weeks, no surprise, I did not get a call back. I called them back and when I did get a call I was told that the woman on the phone would speak to the saleswoman to see what she wants to do. What she wants to do? I revoked their permission to cash my check, so there should be no question. I still wait for the return of my check.
