This place is wonderful & I highly recommend the training course. From the time I entered the door they were beyond pleasant & professional (loved the old guy). I was and still am very fearful of guns. I was extremely nervous about firearms & agreed at home to do courses if the bill would be footed until I'm comfortable. I appreciated his seriousness, sternness, & yet at the same time I felt comfortable, though my hands shook a bit during live fire. His information packet is very helpful/understandable. So the beginners class I highly recommend & I look forward to taking more classes with Boston Firearms. I don't think a basic course is enough for me (I'm a nurse that has seen trauma & I certainly couldn't sit for my boards after nursing 101). So I look forward to the teaching he has to offer & he is definitely a teacher I can learn an immense amount of training from. read more

Tom cheffro makes the class easy with hands on experience. Def the place to get your basic firearms certification.

I just took the Basic Firearms Training (LTC 020) course at Boston Firearms with my girlfriend, and we both had a great time. The instructor, Tom, was very friendly and engaging. I'm looking to get my LTC/A, and I think the most valuable part of this course was the information provided regarding the proper procedure for applying for the license. Tom is very knowledgeable about firearms and their safe handling, as well as what to expect when applying for a license. Highly recommended. The class was small, and he was very patient in answering questions that the students asked. I participated in the live fire training, which involves shooting a .22 semi-automatic pistol (Sig Mosquito I think). Live fire is highly recommended...though personally I think it should be mandatory. read more

Just did my class here for the LTC. Tom is a great instructor and best of all we got to fire REAL guns. It was a very comfortable environment to learn in and Tom answered any and all of our questions. When looking for a place to take the class I was almost fooled into taking a class where they do not fire real firearms and only shoot at a projector due to vagueness of their website. THIS IS NOT THE SAME. Make sure you go here or call to make sure you are getting what you want. We went over a ton of helpful things and got to practice handling, reloading, safety, aiming, and cleaning of both REAL revolvers and semi automatic guns. It was way more hands on than what other places seem to offer. read more

Great class! I was a beginner and now I feel confident with owning and shooting a firearm. The hands on part of the class was excellent gel learning and muscle memory. read more

My wife and I signed up through the web for a training session with Boston Firearms. When you sign up with them you need to put down the full amount, which was $140 each. We ended up having to quarantine on the date we were scheduled due to possible COVID exposure. Boston Firearms said that we could apply the fee and choose another class date. All seemed reasonable at this point. However, when we went to the website to schedule our class, BF asked us for another payment in full. We tried for several weeks to call, email, and text to see if we could schedule a class date without paying again. Finally after multiple emails, texts, and calls, we were told that the ONLY way they could accommodate us was to enroll through the website and pay the full amount again. We were told to ask to be refunded the original payment on the day we came to the training site. They would not enroll us in a course by phone or email. We would not do so since we had such a difficult time getting in touch with them and since they gave no indication that they could be trusted to refund our original payment. (Why would we give them more money?) We finally gave up and decided to eat the $280. Do not patronize this business. They are not customer oriented and they will rip you off. read more

I took my MA Basic Safety Course here and learned so much; I liked the location, class, and atmosphere so much that I went back this past Saturday to get an individual, practice class for the Boston gun license test. I scored a 297/300 on my exam and it definitely because of my great instructor, Peter. We quickly went over the basics and he made me feel really secure and prepared on how to handle the gun. I will definitely be continuing to attend classes here- thank you! read more

I took my firearms training today. Class size was small which made for great hands on and almost one on one training. Instructor is very good and made the training fun. Highly recommend this course for everyone. read more

Tom does an excellent job with new shooters. In particular he is a true hands on trainer who patiently walks each student through the various parts of a gun and how to safely hold, load and shoot. This is a great program for the true novice and a nice refresher for more experienced shooters. Signing up for the multi state is really worth the extra money and time. read more

I took the The Multi-State Firearm License Course at Boston Firearms training and it was great. The instructors were very knowledgeable on the topics covered and were very engaging. They did an excellent job in presenting the material. Will definitely be returning in the near future. read more

This place is great. I went for my firearms certification class. Dad and son team were spot on with the training and knowledge. After going over the laws, dos and don'ts we went to the range to shoot. I'm going back to continue my training. Thanks guys!!!! read more

Informative safety and handling instruction combined with humor and live rounds. It doesnt get better than this. Great experience and will return for more training too. read more

A great experience! I definitely encourage other females not to be afraid to sign up for the "Firearm safety" intro course. I'll be taking the intro to shooting course next..They tailor to safety and self defense which is something amazing to find especially near the city. read more

Not sure what some of the bad reviews were about sounds like someone with an agenda! The registration process was as simple as could be. Overall, I couldn't say enough good things to say about the class - Tom taught us the importance of firearm safety while at the same time keeping it fun. I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in taking a firearms safety class. I recently submitted my LTC application and am waiting to receive my license. read more

Great training experience. Hands on approach made all the difference in the world followed up with live fire. Highly recommend

Got a groupon for a shooting package for 2, and lets just say it didnt go very well. The staff aren't very friendly, and the place is a bit of s sh#thole. Dark cramped and crummy. Doesnt seem like someone who is serious about making something out of this business. Wont be going there again. read more

I took this class as a requirement to receive an LTC licence in MA. I am an experienced shooter, employed in the firearms industry, and have taken several other firearms classes. Over the course of three hours I became vaguely familiar with a S&W K Frame revolver and a Ruger SR22. Those were the only pistols I had the opportunity to learn on. I was instructed to pull the trigger about 6 times on the revolver and zero times on the SR22. Most of the required topics were talked about but in so little detail that it was basically useless. There was no time for questions. It was very much a dictated lecture. The instructor did not introduce himself until after a 30 minute video, and did not seem interested in learning about the students experience level. Aside from the in class video there was no exposure to 1911 style semi autos, DAO, or striker pistols. No discussion on ammunition varieties or calibers. No discussion on why one style might be preferable to another except for the instructor showing a J-frame and saying that it was "an excellent ladies gun", with no explanation as to why. We did go over the manual of arms of the particular pistols we were given, but only as to loading and unloading the gun. No instruction as to decocking a semi-auto, clearing malfunctions, or dissasembly and cleaning. This course is truly for beginners, and I honestly don't think that it provides the level of instruction unnecessary to be come safe and confident in the use of a firearm. IN NO SHAPE OR FORM DOES THIS CLASS PREPARE YOU TO CONCEALED CARRY A FIREARM. No discussion of MA concealed carry laws, defensive scenarios, or carry methods were discussed. The instructor was friendly, funny, and seemed fairly knowledgeable. The poor rating is not because of a lack of professionalism or teaching style, but as to the lack of hands on training with various firearms. But most importantly, there is now way to thoroughly discuss the topics and give them justice in the allotted time of the class. The class was scheduled from 6:30pm until 10:pm. The started on time and we exited the building around 9:00pm. In theory everyone that sits through this class can apply for and obtain a licence to carry a firearm without ever actually fired a bullet. I honestly think that your time would be better spent watching a few videos on youtube regarding gun safety and then going to a firearms store to handle a variety of firearms and talking to a sales associate. read more

My husband doesn't frequently use the Internet and found it very easy to sign us up for this class. We watched a short film. We had a question-and-answer session. My favorite part was the hands on portion of the class. We trained on both a revolver and a semiautomatic pistol. We learned the parts of each gun, the types of bullets, how they worked. Proper handling of a gun and all the safety issues. We chose to participate in the extra option of the live fire exercise. That was fun! We enjoyed Tom's teaching so much that we are going to take more classes. read more

Groupon purchased May 12, 2012 for hubby and I. It has yet to be redeemed. I added my name to an online list as I was instructed to do when I called the company. Called a couple more times to follow up. Almost 2 years later - nada. I see talks of a new location. Hopefully, this means new staff, as well as an improved level of service. read more

THIEVES!!!!! It's unfortunate to say considering this place has such positive reviews on Google and from word of mouth. Ha, let me tell you all a little something..... *warning: rant begins........now* End of November: I signed up to take the Firearms Safety course to help me work towards my MA Class-A LTC, therefore, I prepaid with paypal. Day of the training arrives, weather threatened (and had already started in my town, by...the..way) snow. Cool. No worries, it's New England in November. Snow is expected. I call to inquire about my options due to the weather and that I will need to reschedule. So I get on the phone and I was met with whom I'm assuming was the instructor(?), with "are you frickin' kidding me?" when I explained the naturally occurring dilemma and my unreliable car. Well then. Sorry? ...The conversation was left at "well we'd rather you take the class than for us to give ya your money back." Me: "No I understand that, my schedule is forever changing though so I want to wait to see what December looks like before committing to a date." This guy: "Just call us when ya can reschedule and we'll talk." Ermmm..ok? BEGINNING OF DECEMBER: Along with receiving my schedule that didn't allow for 4 hr time slots to train during their business hours; I was also just informed of my young cousin needing to be rushed to the ICU in CT. Terrible. Well everything had to shift and plans needed to be rearranged. (Here comes good ol' Boston Firearms Training!!!) So I guess they don't seem to have a refund policy (or a drop of empathy) for customers who have inflexible job schedules and a dying family member to tend to. Why? Well because I was told (by the same oh so lovely person) that, "...so you can't come at AALLL?! *annoyed sigh* well I don't know if we could get you your money back, at least not all of it. You can try to email us and I'll have someone look at it and we'll get back to ya." .......uhhmmmmmmmm..............it's this a joke? *woosaaahhh* It's cool. I did as homeboy said and shot the establishment an email (no pun intended haaa). Waiting...........and waiting.......... PRESENT DAY: First off, happy holidays everyone! That's right, here we are just days away from Christmas. Oh and guess who is yet to receive a phone call, email or better yet MY MONEY?! .....THIS GIRL. -_- Through the whirlwind of crap happening to me right now, it just hit me today that I'm still out of my $100! .... the fuck?! Wild. Exquisite customer service, eh? No worries, I'll ask the Better Business Bureau what their thoughts are. It's so unfortunate because they ruined my excitement to move forward with training! I would really love to receive my hard earned money back to put it towards more important things (like f*$@*! funeral costs!) than a damn training course. It's not my fault this center is, clearly, in need of more customers to maintain their business. What IS my prerogative, though, is when I will receive my $100 back. Sorry folks, I had to air this out. I've never experienced such terrible service like this (and I hadn't even stepped foot in the range yet!) Ridiculous! (Oh, and *end rant*) read more

This was my second time taking a LTC class, but my first time taking it at this location. (I went as a guest this time) I have to say I was really disappointed. The older gentleman who taught the class took it upon himself to bring politics into the class. He took every opportunity to call MA gun laws stupid and while training with actual guns put some urgency into the competency training, but did not take the time to correct errors- just continued running drills and yelled at participants for doing things wrong. It seems- from other reviews that this is not the experience that others have had, so take it with a grain of salt and maybe ask for a specific instructor. But I will say, if I was there to educate myself about fire arms and was on the fence about where my politics lie in regards to gun laws that class would have been a complete turn off. And was frankly a disservice to responsible people who want to safely promote their second amendment right. read more

Great instructors, course materials and in-depth expertise to help you navigate toward your LTC. Go multi-state live fire. Tom is very keen on SAFETY and helping build your confidence, even though I had experience, others did not and became proficient. read more

That was a horrible experience. I went with my father to the intro to shooting class. We paid $75 per person and got exactly 15 minutes total for the instructions and shooting. My dad told me later they were cheaters. The instructor was extremely rude. There were 4 of us in the class, one of the girls told upfront she was ready to leave because of how rude the instructor was. read more

I found the instruction useful, and the instructor patient and friendly. I plan to go back for some shooting training. It can be a little hard to find -- in an industrial section of Everett. read more

This is a fun and very informative class on gun safety. Thomas Cheffro is a excellent instructor. We went over loading, unloading and aiming several times to the point where I felt completely comfortable handling the weapon. You receive an email after the class with all the information covered in class as well as additional information. I look forward to taking more classes there like the Krav Maga. read more

Took licensing safety class and several intro shooting classes. Instructors provide a great learning environment. Pete is a great source of knowledge, particularly for a beginner, who encourages questions and tailors his instruction to the individual student. While I haven't taken advantage of it, I like that the place is set up to provide full accompanying self-defense instruction and is not limited to shooting alone. And that the instructors encourage a well-rounded approach to learning firearms. Highly recommend!! read more

Great course. Informative, educational, and interesting. Instructor kept it fun and informative and stressed all the key points.

So, I took a class there a while back to attempt to get my MA license. I have been using handguns for years and have been licensed in other states. I took the class because the ridiculous MA gun laws require it and won't accept my previous licensure. At any rate, Tom (the owner) started the class and his dad took over part way through. They are both good guys. The dad is the quintessential grumpy Italian guy (think of Arthur from the King of Queens or the dad from Everybody Loves Raymond). Needless to say, we had a great time. My only complaint is that the class ran a little longer than expected - although a friend who went 2 weeks before said his got out early. I don't know if our class was overfilled or people asked more questions than usual or what. Whatever. It was a good experience. The new bldg is a little out of the way down a back alley, but the signage couldn't be clearer. Thanks for that! The facility is basically a giant open warehouse that they are trying to do a bunch of stuff to that the ATF needs to approve first. I really hope they get to expand their services because they are off to a good start. On a side note, I think you should ignore the negative Yelp reviews. My boyfriend is a business owner and Yelp harassed the crap out of him and then took many of his reviews away when he refused to advertise with them. Luckily, his were all 5 star, so it left him with a couple good ones left. But if you won't pay to advertise, Yelp will actually post bad reviews about you. It's messed up. I don't trust them anymore. I went looking to buy a washing machine and found a company with "great" reviews. I clicked on the "other reviews that are not currently recommended" link. It brought me to pages upon pages of 1 star reviews that the company had apparently paid to have removed. And those "not recommended" reviews were not worked into the 4.5 star overall review grade the company had. Disgusting. read more

This facility does not return calls or even when messages are left for Tom the manager. I got fed up calling to try set up range time with lane reserve and lesson, but to no avail. I can't review it because they won't return my calls to setup an appointment. read more

Your money would be better spent elsewhere. The only thing this class is good for is getting you your cretificate quickly and easily. Other than that, you don't learn anything and definitely do not get actual experience shooting a gun. You get one 10-round clip to shoot at the end of your classroom time and you have to pay extra for that. You do not do anything on cleaning a gun. The only thing he shows you on cleaning the gun is five minutes from the video that you watch. The instructor is not very enthusiastic; He is lazy and unprofessional. To be quite honest, I can't even understand how they are liscenced to certify people. Unless you have hefty experience with guns, invest in another class elsewhere because this class is only useful for people who have a lot of experience with guns and want a quick class to get thier liscence quickly. The class is about 3 hours long. God forbid you have a question about pricing or scheduling because the staff are not very helpful or friendly. You will get ripped off so go elsewhere. read more
