We tried to get an inspector out to the house to do a 3rd party inspection, but the mortgage company (Pulte Mortgage, also huge mistake) kept telling us we are not approved, so we did not want to schedule anyone until we were approved. Closing date came and still" we are not approved". So, we basically told Pulte Mortgage, "you're fired". All of a sudden, "hey, you are approved, your closing is in 3 hours, I hope you can make it. So of course, if we declined, we would lose our deposit. We went and closed. I would rather have lost my $10K deposit. I think they had the local elementary school kids come and build this house. All the walls are off. Nothing is 90 degree or straight. Quality looks like it was purchased at Walmart. If you are unable to inspect the house, DO NOT PURCHASE!!!! Customer service is a joke! The salesperson disappeared as soon as we signed the purchase agreement. That should have been the first red flag for us. This is not a smart house at all like they claim. Only smart thing is the modem has a little built-in box for it to sit in. That is, it. Nothing is wireless. Nothing can be setup as wireless unless you replace it. STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING PULTE!!!!

We are satisfied with Pulte Builders, but as with any new home, there is a punch list of items that…read morewere supposed to be corrected during an 11 month walk through. Customer Service was OK during our building process, but once we closed on the home, Customer Service disappeared. Our 11 month walk-through has not happened and the timeframe for it has come and gone. We can get no answers from anyone we try to contact locally in Westfield. SINCE THIS REVIEW WAS POSTED, EVERYTHING WAS TAKEN CARE OF TO OUR SATISFACTION.

Unprofessional and Emotionally Draining Experience - Not Recommended, Especially for Families…read more We had an extremely disappointing experience with Taylor Homes especialy with the new sales consultant (Stephanie Kimble) after working with them for over four months while being pregnant to build our dream home. We are law-abiding, well-educated non-immigrant residents, and throughout this process, we acted in good faith--doing everything by the book. Yet we were met with a lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic human empathy. As someone who is 8 months pregnant now, I went through an enormous amount of stress due to how the builder handled this project. We made repeated trips from a different city to meet with their team, spending our time, energy, and emotional strength while also preparing to welcome a child. At no point did the builder consider the toll this would take on us--physically, emotionally, or mentally. We were never told in advance that we would be responsible for key site prep tasks like silt fence installation or other small responsibilities which usually builder should handle. These responsibilities were only brought up after we signed the agreement (which they hurried us to finish signing up the agreement stating only then they could move proceed with us). Still, we completed these tasks ourselves to make things are easier for the builder. Instead of helping or guiding us, the builder repeatedly blamed the HOA, stating that the covenant guidelines were vague. However, the HOA clearly allows HardiePlank siding in combination with brick or stone, and their explanations were misleading. After all this effort, we received a sudden email stating that they would no longer build our home--without prior warning, mediation, or apology. They made us feel like we were disposable clients, not a family who had placed its trust in their hands during a vulnerable time. This experience has been emotionally draining, financially unfair, and honestly heartbreaking. No family--especially an expectant one--should ever be treated this way. I do not recommend Taylor Homes, especially if you're an out-of-town buyer or someone new to U.S. builder practices. Please get every detail in writing, and be cautious. I would have given a review in negative if there was an option available here

Our custom brick home truly feels so nice and not "builder grade" at all. The build broke ground in October of 2022 and we were able to move in June 2023. Taylor homes offered the lock in price and stayed true to that. We actually ended up being under budget which was huge for us. Shawn Moore was our superintendent and was very easy to get ahold of and communicate with during the entire process. Shawn was very communicable and understanding during the build and each time we would meet at the site he never made us feel rushed or like he was too busy to answer any of our questions.

We decided to build our very first home instead of buying existing. We researched local builders in…read morethe area and found that Shoopman Homes had the best prices for the quality. The process was smooth and upfront, everything went as planned. I liked that we got to sit down with a consultant to pick paint colors and some optional items. We ended up using one of their preferred lenders so we didnt hit any road bumps trying to get or close. Thanks! My family loves our first home. I recommend to all of my friends.

I foolishly just had a town home built by Shoopman in Westfield, Indiana. Shoopman is a small…read morebuilder. I thought I would be able to get a better quality home, especially since the company is considered a Diamond Builder. He rushed to start the building having not replied to all my questions and thereby shorted me on some options. He does not "speak" with you, does everything by email. None of the employees are (given responsibility) able to answer any of your serious questions, they must send the question to Mr. Shoopman and wait for his email response. There are very few actual employees. Most everyone is sub-contracted. Imagine your builder not knowing how something as important as the plumbing is run in your home and telling you to contact the sub-contractor directly. I have never had to do this with any previous normal builder. There are numerous defects under warranty. He did not even complete my closing punch list. Worst of all, he installed inferior shingles on my home, 3-tab with a 65mph wind rating versus dimensional shingles with a 135mph wind rating. I have lost several shingle tabs 6 times since closing. Yes, they got replaced under his warranty which is a 2-10.com warranty. But at 2.5 months after closing, one wind exceeded 65mph and he has completely voided my roof warranty. So much for my 2-10. They concur with his prerogative to void the warranty. Two roofers and my insurance adjuster have found the roof to be a total loss due to wind damage. I am now paying to replace the entire roof. Now we are fighting over a crack in the driveway. He sends me an email to say that there is no warranty on concrete and includes a document that clearly states that the builder is responsible if the crack is wider than 1/4" or 3/16" vertically. I could go on but have to close this somewhere. I have opened cases with BBB (waste of time), BAGI (waste of time), and the Attorney General's offices (still waiting). I will post all the negative reviews I possibly can to warn others. Please learn from my poor experience and stay clear of Shoopman Homes. And if a certain realty company (SEARS) says otherwise avoid them, too. They failed me also in this project. I forgot that on 2/21/2017 I posted the following: If I could give negative stars, I would. They may be good builders, but it is difficult to know. The process they put the customer through is impossible. There are approximately 3 to 5 employees in this company. They contract everyone else. They do not have a super to oversee construction, the owner does this -- or tries to do this all himself. I was unable to even communicate in person with the owner until closing. All communication is conducted by email. Even to ask a simple question. They can't even tell you where something they should know about, such as where the water lines come from or go to, such as which way a door should swing open, and so forth. Instead, they make you speak with their subcontractors directly. Whoever heard of such a process? This indicates that the builder is not in charge of all aspects of building your home. And the sub may or may not always answer their phone. If they do you end up dealing with the sub instead of the builder. Most builders go through a house thoroughly to ensure you find nothing at closing. This company requires you to find everything yourself, all their problems! Numerous problems in the paint, the drywall, caulking, the gaps in outside doors, dent in the garage door, spilled paint, damaged trim/baseboards, nail pops, etc. Including the dirt/debris they left behind. They give you only 2 days prior to closing to go through the house and, in my case, did not complete all the closing items. Like a fool, based on a promise, I closed and now I am left to get these corrected myself
