Instead, we have experienced multiple amended returns across several tax years, repeated discrepancies between the figures submitted and those determined by the IRS and New York State, and a continual stream of notices demanding additional payments. The financial impact has been significant, but the ongoing stress has been even worse. Every time we believed a tax year had finally been resolved, another notice arrived with different figures and further amounts to pay. It has been extremely difficult to have confidence that our returns were prepared correctly. Mistakes can happen, but what matters is resolving them quickly and giving clients certainty.
