Stockbridge

This is the sort of shop that I - a student - would always ogle at but never cross the doorway. I…read morewas in my element, however, when I was asked to help a friend re-decorate, and came straight to James Wilson in Stockbridge. I was always keen to go into this shop as it always has really nice, trendy displays and I always fantasized about my future furnishings. I was always too scared to go in, however, as it id definitely not the sort of place you go in for a nosey. I was not disappointed with the selection of furniture, ornaments and decor at all - very trendy and very cool, I recognized a lot of the patterns form Hollyoaks (great, if that's your thing). Although it is a lovely place, the price tag was not so lovely. But I have to admit, going into an interior designers in Stockbridge - I wasn't expecting a bargain. It's a nice place to go and get ideas, however. My friend ended up copying a painting she saw in James Wilson, and it looks just as good!

James Wilson boasts of selling beautiful, bespoke interior design, ranging from elegant wallpaper…read moreto trendy furniture. Contemporary, but seemingly inspired by classic periods of design like the 20s and 30s, James Wilson sells high wuality, magnificently upholstered couches and ornate floral wallpaper. They actually cover a wide range of design and have the added edge of being able to tailor their designs to fit your preferances. So if you see a sofa but would rather have it in another colour, they will make the amendments for you with no problem at all. It's expensive but well worth the money as each item can be personalised. They host such names as Monkwell and (gasp) Lloyd Loom wicker chairs! I love Lloyd Loom so I have a bit of a swoon at the chairs in the shop whenever I'm here. If I had a house with half of the furnishings from this lovely store, I would probably just gaze around the room all day and never sit on the chairs because they are too pretty! But the furniture seems durable as well, so it may appeal to people with young families as much as it would trend setting new home owners!

New Town

The sales team were very helpful at supporting our search for a flat to let, unfortunately once we…read morepaid our deposit the support ended there. Upon move-in we received a 20 page+ inspection declaration of the condition of the flat and 48 hours to respond if we disagreed. We spent hours verifying the report and found it extremely lacking in the documentation of damage and over-statement of cleanliness (For example: floors had food and dirt stuck to them, windows had not been cleaned, etc while report stated these were cleaned to a professional standard). We returned the report in the time requested and simply received a 'sorry the inspector missed so much'. When we moved out we paid a professional cleaning team to clean the flat from top to bottom. The Inspector from Murray and Currie then reviewed the apartment and has commented on some of the items we raised in our comments on the move in report and Murray and Currie have withheld security deposit. We've raised this with Murray and Currie and sent our original comments back to the Company, however they have not been supportive and required us to raise a dispute with deposit Scotland to try to recover the monies. This is a complete lack of support and unjustified withholding a security deposit. I'm very disappointed, and would not recommend their services.

The good: The…read moremanagement and senior leasing associates are very accommodating and care about your satisfaction as a tenant. They were able to set up a rental for international relocation without needing the tenant present in the UK, modified the lease terms due to special circumstances, and once the managing director became aware of the depth of my repair issues he followed up on all future issues personally. The bad: My new flat did not meet the repairing standard for the first three weeks, and did not meet the tolerable standard for the first two weeks. In this time, at one point it took three business days from contacting the maintenance team to hearing from a boiler engineer to schedule an appointment. While I had no functioning boiler, authorization to purchase replacement parts took two business days, which means that I spent an additional five days without a boiler after the issue was diagnosed.
