Extremely frustrating experience. I paid this firm in full for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, remained a client for several months, and my case was never filed. Despite no filing, I was later told that the firm had "earned" more than my retainer through internal billing. After cancelling services, I received only a partial refund described as a "courtesy," which is difficult to justify given that the primary service I hired them for was never completed. A significant portion of the billed work appeared to be administrative tasks (emails, portal updates, routine follow-ups) charged at high hourly rates. The process felt unnecessarily drawn out, with little progress toward actually filing the case. When I raised concerns, the response was dismissive and lacked transparency. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this firm ask very detailed questions about how time is billed, what work is actually being done, and how long the process should realistically take. I requested through Yelp a quote for a different attorney on filing for Chapter 13 - they sent my information to several different law groups. Long story short, I got a call from Borowitz & Clark - the receptionist was very nice and friendly and transferred me to the lawyer. Not sure if it was Borowitz or Clark - but they answered the phone very rudely - basically made me feel like "what the hell you want" - I explained my situation and he proceeded to tell me I do not qualify for Chapter 13 - even though 5 other law firms all said I can file it without an issue - he proceeds to be narcissistic and say "I don't care what other attorneys have told you I have over 30 years of experience and I won bankruptcy attorney of the year..." and went on a rant - I cut him off by saying "so you can't help me?" - he proceeded to bash me further so I hung up.... This guy is full of himself and someone who is going through bankruptcy should not have to deal with narcissistic cold soul-less individuals who make them feel terrible, no one wants to go through bankruptcy and trying to bash me for it and say you're the best attorney out there and that I'm out of "options" - is insane. I called another attorney who was very friendly and willing to look into my case and understood my situation with a warm heart. I don't recommend this place to no one totally unprofessional staff. The "Lady" that did our intake was extremely rude to my wife and myself. She is also a liar she said I was rude and disrespectful when she was totally unprofessional. I paid them in full for a bankruptcy witch they gave me horrible advice had me do chapter 13 only to have me change it to chapter 7 witch is what I wanted to do from the beginning. They owe me money for a over payment witch they keep giving me the runaround about. They promised me my credit would stay good witch it didn't because of the bankruptcy they promised my pink slip to my truck witch they haven't delivered. These people are scam artist. This review is written from my personal experience working with the staff at Borowitz & Clark. Unfortunately, I had to file two bankruptcy cases. At the completion of the 5 years for my first BK, I experienced some damage to my house that was not covered by my insurance. After taking care of the repairs, I had no choice but to file BK again or risk losing my home. I filed both of my cases with Borowitz in the Palmdale office. My second case was assigned to Yesenia. It is impossible to put into words how sincerely grateful I am for Yesenia. While working with Yesenia, when I emailed her, she would typically respond within 15 minutes, except for late hours. Even then, she would respond first thing the next morning. After two years in my second case, I decided to refinance my house. If approved, it would end my BK early because my home was the only debt included in the BK. Yesenia not only explained the process, but she advised me of all of my options. Even when I didn't understand, she would apologize and explain it differently until I understood. I will admit, at times, I became frustrated and may have been rude. Yesenia remained polite and continued to offer her assistance. When going over the options Yesenia offered as far as the refinance, I decided to go with the voluntary dismissal. The paperwork had to be filed by a certain time in order for my refi to go through. It was a Friday evening when Yesenia informed me that she needed me to sign a document in order to submit my request for dismissal to the courts. I advised her that I wasn't at work and did not have access to print, sign, and return the documents to her right away. Yesenia told me that she would wait in the office until I could get access. She waited roughly an hour after the close of business, and then still submitted the documents to the court the same evening. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to find an employee willing to stay at work late on a Friday to process something that was an error on the clients part. Yesenia, I greatly appreciate your assistance. I pray I never have to go through financial hardship again, but if I came into contact with you under other circumstances, I would welcome and look forward to the opportunity. And when they schedule phone interviews to get the information from you, they fail to tell you exactly what youll need to know for the interview. I thought that was pretty crummy.
