We chose the private family tour and booking was quick and easy and the customer service as great as I remembered. On to the tour itself: Luke met us at the Museum of Natural History on time and we got reacquainted. My son is autistic and can have some trouble warming to new people but absolutely no the case with Luke, he immediately put my son at ease and they were chatting like old friends as we made our way into Central Park. The tour covered loads of Central Park, including an exciting off track visit to a secret cave, the plaza hotel, grand central station, some fun subway rides, and concluded at the Brooklyn Bridge. But more than just seeing so many iconic sites, Luke had hundreds of facts and stories (which my son loved) about what we were seeing. It was truly like spending a wonderful day with an old friend. I cannot recommend highly enough Luke and Real New York Tours. Until next time!

The walking tour goes at a good pace to cover a wide area but slow enough to also stop, think and take photos. Good value for money and well organised the tour takes you through the main streets in Bushwick and Jeff explains the background behind many of the pieces. It's a good way to get your bearings before revisiting solo or continuing your wonder under your own steam. Bushwick, Brooklyn is the street art epicentre with an ever changing array of works from world renowned street artists.

Nothing about the neighbourhood being cool or artistic. Maybe 5 mins total was spent talking about artists that performed here. Hate to break it to you but the rest of the world knows the us has issues with poverty and garbage healthcare system. Nearly everywhere has issues with gentrification. Making a tour 100% about that when it's completely mismatched with the description is false advertising. ONE graffiti art spot. Not much sense preaching to tourists about unaffordable housing for 2 hours.

I'm going to try to entice you and not spoil the experience because it is thoughtfully curated and should be experienced live, in person. We started with one of the inspirations for Ghostbusters! Right off the bat, I was hooked as I love that movie and anything Dan Aykroyd. We learned about a Secret cave in Central Park, the iconic Dakota Building, we passed by Needle Park, where "Waiting for Mr Goodbar" was filmed in 1977 (RIP Diane Keaton!), and saw, among other sites, where James Baldwin lived and discussed art and films, like "The Exorcist" with Toni Morrison. That was a fascinating film review to read and learn about! You finish the tour where Edgar Allan Poe wrote and first published one of the most famous poems ever written, "The Raven", in The New York Evening Mirror on January 29, 1845. I had no idea I lived so near to such fascinating history! I'm grateful to B.O.T.D. for being such cool teachers! I am very much looking forward to taking additional tours with you to continue this unique journey of my complex and beloved City.

Review from our daughter (13): this was my 2nd trip to NYC...the first time was with my family &…read morethis one was on an unofficial school trip with my theatre classmates so it was exciting to have the chance to deep dive into broadway and theatre side of NYC culture. It was a good experience but there was some times that were rushed to take pictures like the Statue of Liberty and some things weren't done even though they said they were going to like going to trinity church. Food was preselected without input from the group. Daniel spent lots of time talking about personal experiences which were irrelevant to our time and then we lost the opportunity to take photos or truly take in the sites. Would have preferred more history of the city and broadway and more authentic to NYC food options instead of new development neighborhoods, parks, and generic diner food or pasta. The best part was eating at the diner with the broadway actors. Instead of going on the dinner cruise around Statue of Liberty, it was replaced with the free staten island ferry and severely lacked ambience. Also, initially, Daniel seemingly tried to save money on room arrangements by shoving attendees into rooms together instead of purchasing the allotted rooms. It was only after an adult made a big deal about it, that he acknowledged his mistake and fixed the issue. Also on one of our shows, Daniel was less than forthcoming about the cast for the night and attempted to divert our attention away from the fact that we found out before he told us. Grateful for the experience with my bestfriend as we are middle school and broadway was such a great experience, but don't think the money was worth it. We could have done a lot more and experienced a lot more for what we paid.
