Always a great spot to stop at if your a fan of American Horror Story: Murder House! Some other…read morenotable shows that were filmed here were: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-files, Dexter, and so many more! It's a great photo op, usually there's no one else there, or maybe one of two other groups. But the place is big enough that you don't have to wait in line to take pictures! Street parking is free, but also, be respectful of the area as it is a residential area!

The famous "Murder House" from American Horror Story is located in Los Angeles and is great fun to…read moresee. The Murder is really the Rosenheim Mansion. Rosenheim built the mansion in 1908 to live in his wife. In around 1930 Edward Everett Horton lived there. The Sisters of Social Service then took over the mansion in 1930, using it as a convent and adding a chapel to the building in 1932. Around 1999/2000 the site was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It was beautiful and still is in its own right. It was later sold in 2015 for about 3 million, which was a huge price cut from its initial offering. There was a lawsuit against the sellers agent for never disclosing that the property was featured on American Horror Story. Fans of the TV show stated going to it and this made the owners just a tad upset. It is now Murder House. You can now up to walk Murder House and take photos of the beautiful mansion and the area greenery. It is about an hour of fun. I had read that some can walk though it, but I did not see anyway to do that.

You can see schools, firefighter uniforms, racing, agriculture and even a small convenience store. The woman that works there was so sweet and welcoming. She offered us fruit on our way out. Next we went to see the train museum. It was so detailed and cute. Keep an eye out for the parts that move. There's a spot to step up on for the littlest to take a closer look. My toddler was still too small to see so I was carrying her around and a kind man brought out a stepping stool for her to stand up on. Last we went into the barn to see the horse and carriage. We enjoyed the sun outside in the garden and read some books. Overall we had a wonderful time and I was so grateful for everyone's hospitality.

I didn't ask anyone "in charge" for info but, visited the art museum building and enjoyed speaking with the folks gathered to look at the art and chat. Enjoyed my time walking the grounds. I just don't know if the rules they have in place will work in our budget as the rental fee is a bit steep and doesn't even include chairs for a wedding ceremony at the gazebo lawn area. It also seems steep to have to secure one of their security people to serve a champagne toast. Those are logistics for our particular needs that don't effect this park as a whole. Bring out your visitors and the kiddos to explore!

Love, love, love Frog Creek Farm. Can't believe that they have been in business for over a decade…read moreand I just heard about them recently. We had been to another lavender farm in the upper Ojai Valley some years ago and I was looking for that info to return. That one has closed, but thankfully, Frog Creek Farm is a wonderful "find" for us. The lavender full blossom season is short, so you need to check on them via social media to find out when they are open. Instagram has current info. It's a delight to pull off the Ojai/Santa Paula Road and mosey on to their property. They have so much to see, including their cutting garden of seasonal flowers, some places to sit at picnic tables in the shade and even swing (i.e., hammock), the gift shop, and the lavender rows - the main event. Larry provides a great introduction at the small stand adjacent to the flowering beds. He describes the location and how to identify the five kinds of lavender they offer for cutting. For 2025 pricing - $16 earns you a generous bunch of fragrant blooms. After orientation, you are off with a basket to collect the stems, and scissors to do your own cutting / harvesting. As promised, the plentiful bees scattered away as we leaned in to cut the stems close to the main host bushes. We wandered among the rows and filled up our gathering basket. Back at the stand, Larry tied our haul into a beautiful bunch. We proceeded to the gift shop to pay for our pickings, and I also found a few other items to purchase, including lavender-infused spray which has many purposes. Christel greeted us as we were wrapping up our visit. She filled us in as we asked questions about how long they'd been there, as well as about some of their products. She's as sweet and charming as the farm is. What a lovely place to visit. We'll be putting it on the to-do list next summer, for sure!

From the personal lavender lesson, to the hands on cutting, shopping the lavender shed to sipping amazing lavender lemonade under the trees, it's such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Christel and Larry are just the nicest people. They make you feel so welcome to be visiting their little slice of heaven. We love this annual tradition.
