My Morning views are better than yours! Swiss alps, Italian lake and France in the back!!!
    Latifa S.

Views!! Came for the views!!! Lago di como x birthday month! Perfection!! Stayed here 2 weeks ago. And it was the most peaceful, happy, quiet, dreamy stay! Also waking up here on my actual birthday was quite great. And memorable! The hotel is right on top of the highest part of Bellagio in Lake Como! No Uber's here so it's all taxi! And glad I didn't take the train. It would've been impossible to catch a taxi! The property has the best views! It's new! It's white. Shiny! But not over the top. The shiniest in town. But still comfortable. My room was huge. Terrace was even bigger. Living room and bedroom views of lake como: the best! The hotel offers a few shuttles to town. Take it! It's on limited time. But taxis are harder to find. If you're at the hotel, you can have them call for you. Takes about 30 minutes. And it's €15 anywhere to town. No matter how close! Hotel offered breakfast with the stay. But I ended up missing them all 4 days since I left early to town: I did buy some cappuccinos and lattes. No Togo cups. My driver was also my cappuccino maker :D The pools are at the top! And the views from the pool of an entire lake como is something else. But they don't open the pool till end of May! Kind of a bummer. Still love my stay though. So peaceful! And the views!!

Pano of Lake Como and Bellagio from our room.

It took so long to get our drinks. By the time they came we had to go down to our reservation. Now the restaurant Giacomo Al Lago. We were seated quickly. But our menus took forever. They were serving and attending other tables but after 10 minutes I had to go back to the check in area and ask the lady who seated us , who was suppose to give us the menus. So eventually it came. As you see in my pictures. The other ladies were given a place to set their handbags. One arrived after me. Mine was on the floor. So the beginning service was not good. My son ordered from the kids meal and they brought him an adult meal we had to send back. Now the food was delicious. Well prepared. They brought our seafood selections to look at and approve before they cook it for us. I wished their service matched the cook's efforts. I had a much better experience with service at a different luxury hotel.

Upon arrival we were told that the men needed to be wearing jackets. I wish that our hotel had told us because my husband had packed one, but luckily the restaurant keeps spare jackets on site for just this situation. The large dining room is incredibly old school with beautiful brass dining chairs laden in blue and yellow striped fabric. When they brought out the wine list I thought it was a joke because it was the size of a dictionary! For dinner I had the beet tartare and the veal filet. The soy marinated tofu was a little bit of an odd flavor combined the beet dish but besides that it was quite good. My husband started with the gnocchi and it may have been the best dish of the night, it was dynamite. In my opinion, my veal filet was better than my husbands beef filet and I also really enjoyed the petite eggplant parmigiana that came with it. Soufflé and ice creams for dessert were a big hit, but I was especially pleased because I asked if they had some dark chocolates off menu and they brought me out a beautiful assortment that tasted as good as they looked. Great restaurant if you are looking for an elegant evening out on the town or an excuse to use the dinner jacket that you packed but thought you wouldn't need.

I was in Bellagio for Asif A.'s wedding, and the day before the wedding, Eric R. and others were canyoneering and rappelling. Asif A. told me this is his favorite restaurant in Bellagio, so I joined him for lunch with four others. We sat on the patio and my seat was right next to the water. The server was very patient and friendly. We ordered a half liter of white wine and appetizers of caprese and bresaola. The bresaola also came with pork (oops...) but I focused on the unbelievable mozarella in the caprese salad. I ordered the gnocchi with flame roasted octopus and baby olives. It was pure heaven - the gnocchi tasted like pillows of angels or something. I now know why gnocchi is so hot on Top Chef because it tastes nothing like the packaged stuff I am used to in the U.S. The place is known for lake fish, so Asif A. ordered perch with curry and rice, and I tasted it - wow! David W. shared with me smoked trout from his salad, which was similar to nova. David S. ate some of mine but did not share his duck - I did take a picture of his dish though, as it looked delicious! Robin B. had the sea bass and it definitely looked good (special of the day). The whole menu sounded good and I would definitely have returned if I stayed longer. We had leftover bread at the end of the meal so the server told me to feed it to the birds in the lake. I tossed bread for the ducks and swans, a fun way to end the meal. The setting was gorgeous and I am so glad I was able to discover this hidden gem.

Outside the pool area is wonderful with a breathtaking view of the lake. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and used it daily. We also enjoyed lunch by the pool and many spritz's from the pool bar. Be warned, the pool is not heated if you are there in the spring time! The staff were so nice and always greeted us when we returned the next day. The spa is also incredible, with many free to use experiences such as an ice room, salt room, sauna and more! We also loved breakfast every morning at the hotel with the incredible view. Another wonderful part of this hotel is the location. It is less than a 10 minute walk down to the city center and I would prefer to stay here for the view over a hotel near the lake in town. I hope to return to Bellagio again and I will stay at Hotel Belvedere again!

After touring the fabulous Villa Melzi gardens and traversing the hilly cobble stoned Bellagio streets adorned by abundant shops and restaurants, it was time for lunch. The Hotel Metropole is conveniently located in the town, and the alfresco dining offered provided a perfect view of the lake. There were plenty of tables available when we sat down, so we selected one with an optimum view. It was a great spot to watch the public ferries traversing the lake, and the private water taxis buzzing about in this busy little town. We selected the Salad with Prawns, and Spaghetti Carbonara. Both were nicely prepared, the prawns were fresh, and the spaghetti cooked perfectly al dente, in a tasty sauce. Service was good, and the patio venue unbeatable on this beautiful day. This was a solid four-star experience for our pleasant lunch.
