Making our rounds through Tijuana, Border Psycho was on our list to try. They only serve beer, I didn't indulge however my friends were very impressed with the crisp taste of their beers. Love their choices of decor ;O) #goals

Yes...that's exactly what you think it is...

Not everything south of the border is a Tecate/Corona/Modelo...the craft beer scene is slowly growing...slowly but surely. Is that a good thing...well yes...it keeps those who are scared to venture outside the US in the US and that means more beer for me....my love of beer has lead me to TJ ...well it also helps that family resides there and can lead me around. Located away from Revolution Street but across from Plaza Rio is this cluster of restaurants, tasting rooms, bars is this gem...I tried hefs, stouts, ipa's that rival any other over the border...plus the peso is currently 14 pesos to 1 American dollar...so I drank cheap. I felt safe the entire time, no one harassed me and for those none Spanish speakers there's plenty of English speakers... Take your passport and venture south...skip the tecates...

AMAZING - THIS SHOULD BE A "MUST DO" on your list!…read more I've been following Club Tengo Hambre for years - but finally decided we should do it. My friend treated she and I to the Valle de Guadalupe tour for my birthday! We showed up in San Ysidro and was greeted by the amazing "Ana" - if you go, please request her - she's so knowledgeable about the area and an absolute joy to be around all day. We walked across the border (super super easy) and met up with Alejandro (our driver). We stopped by a local taco spot followed by a trip down the coast. You get to see Rosarito and Ensenata before heading up in to the valle! We stopped at two wineries - one family owned (no one there except us) and the other was women owned - both were such a delightful, peaceful experience. The Wine? AH-MAZING!!!!!! Final stop - I won't ruin the end of the movie for you - but let's just say you won't be disappointed. Advice - you can get around with flip flops, etc. They recommend closed toe shoes but sandals (or your favorite wine tasting attire is perfect). Bring a light jacket just in case!

Violeta did a great job picking every place. Many times the food or drinks on tours are just okay. But we loved the breakfast tacos, the charcuterie board was one of the best I have had, and dinner was great and it had an amazing view of the sunset. The drive down to Valle De Guadalupe was very scenic. i was surprised at the quality of wine in Mexico. I had low expectations but we enjoyed the wines and the wineries in Mexico are very generous with their pours. I would highly recommend this if you have someone visiting or if you want to get a group of friends together to celebrate . Violeta was very knowledgeable and friendly. They also can arrange private tours as well.

My visit actually happened a couple years ago, and it's taken me this long to posting it on Yelp. The brewery is a about a two mile walk from downtown, as it's located in the hills, south of downtown, off of Blvd. Agua Caliente, south of the famous Tijuana tower, on Blvd. Fundadores. Unless you're familiar with Tijuana and like to hike, you'd probably be more comfortable taking a cab from downtown. Personal safety is not an issue, as contrary to popular belief, Tijuana is safe, and the only real menace is the traffic. Cervecería Tijuana offers an upscale dining room to enjoy the great beer, and is quite elegant inside, as the decor is Victorian, complete with high ceilings, richly paneled walls, stained glass, brass lamp fixtures, fleur de leis wallpaper, wooden floors, and one of the most elegant bars that I've seen during my visits to Tijuana. The walls are covered with framed photos of old-time Tijuana, and the place is huge inside and well-lit, but not bright or gaudy in any way. Cervecería Tijuana is pure class... Despite the fact that I was quite outnumbered by staff members, I probably sat at my table for five minutes before a server visited, and placed chips and salsa on my table. She asked me if I was ready to order, and I ordered a "Bronca" beer from the menu for the price of MEX $40.00... I had considered ordering a burger or a taco, as their now-defunct web site advertised the fact that they are a restaurant as well as a brewery, but I wasn't offered a food menu, so I just decided to concentrate my attention on beer, along with the complimentary chips and salsa. When I asked about food, she told me their kitchen didn't open until around 5, so that explained the lack of food, or the lack of a food menu. But, complimentary chips and salsa are a great thing! The "Bronca" beer arrived in a frosty mug, and was excellent, being a medium, pilsner, very German-tasting beer. Oh baby! ... This is great beer, tasting even better after the long walk, so great that I ordered a second one, in order to help wash down the tortilla chips, sprinkled with seasoned salt, and delicious, in-house made salsa. My thirst was whetted for a third beer, so I decided to give the slightly dark, "Morena" beer a taste. Great beer! The chips arrived in a large basket, and a small plate was provided to enjoy samples. I noted the chips were fresh and warm, which surprised me, consider the kitchen wasn't open, but I simply enjoyed. The chips were slightly "puffy" and covered with seasoned salt, which made them absolutely delicious, and made a perfect side to enjoy with my beers. With the chips came a bowl of fresh salsa, made in-house, of the "salsa roja" variety. It was tangy, flavorful, mildly spicy, and just plain delicious. I dipped each tortilla chip in the salsa and enjoyed. By the time I'd enjoyed my third beer, I'd eaten the entire basked of chips, along with the bowl of salsa. Muy sabroso! Cervecería Tijuana produces outstanding beer. I felt that it was a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for, and Cervecería Tijuana delivers a quality product, served in elegant surroundings. The chips and salsa were great, and the complimentary price was a deal. The service was very slow and sporadic, which surprised me, considering at the time of my visit, and that I was the only customer present for much of the time I was in the dining room. I truly would have enjoyed a taco or a burger, had they been offered to me, but I absolutely loved the beer, as it's a true pilsner, and is as good as it gets. The complimentary chips and salsa only enhanced the amazing beer. When you're visiting Tijuana, and you're in the mood to enjoy great beer, brewed locally, a trip to Cervecería Tijuana should be on your calendar...

Hidden in a little indoor mall is one of the tiniest craft breweries I've seen -- just a window where they serve great craft beer, with a few tables to sit at. We tried a stout and an IPA. Both were very good-- the stout was low ABV but not watery and tasted great, and the IPA was around 7% and was quite hoppy and bitter, a true West Coast style IPA. You won't find tasters, but they serve 12, 16, and 20 ounce pours for between 30 - 45 pesos, depending on the size of the pour. They had an ad on the wall for beer brewing classes, too -- it would be a really cool thing to check out, especially if you're local. Estefany B. is right; the location is hard to find! Here's how to get there: go down the Pasaje Revolucion located at #942 Revolucion, and at the end of the hallway you'll see a little indoor mall. Azteca is on the basement level; there are signs once you get to the back of the Pasaje; Baja Brew Labs is there, as well. Viva la cerveza artesenal!

Don't let the no wait time fool you thinking it is not good. I am not a beer person, but they had so many beer options for you beer lovers. They also had other drinks for those that don't like beer (some cocktails). I ended up trying the the Baja Artesanal Frambuesa Ale just to see if it was more on the fruity side. It was. Now as a person who doesn't like beer it tasted ok as long as you don't try or eat anything else. When the food came and I took a sip of the beer after tasting my food the beer did not taste so good. Now onto the food. OMG! I ordered the hamburger with fries and had no idea how big the burger was. This burger has to be shared with someone. The length and width were bigger than my hand (about 1.5 x my hand). The height ... probably a little less than my hand (I took a picture with my hand for scale, but it came out blurry so I didn't post). Not only was the portion out of this world, but it tasted delish as well. Please note due to the size it does take some time to cook the patty, but def worth the wait! Highly recommend checking this place out. I know if I'm back in the area I definitely will be going back!
