This was one of the easiest checkpoint stops we've ever been stopped. We didn't even have to come to a full stop. With a US plated car, we were waived right on through. Excellent! Easy 5 stars. read more

This border patrol checkpoints is only for Eastbound traffic (from Yuma to Phoenix), not Westbound traffic (not from Phoenix to Yuma). Giving 1 star because there shouldn't be border checkpoints within the US other than the official border with other countries. read more

Everyone has to stop if it is opened and every time I have driven back to Phoenix it has been opened. They are checking for drugs and undocumented people. They do have a dog on duty. Can be slow moving through the area but traffic picks up after you are through the checkpoint. read more

Although two of us, BOTH American citizens, were carrying numerous boxes, bags, and a lazy boy, we were not searched. The Border Patrol Agent was polite and funny. However he did have large, burly hands, so I am elated that We did not receive a cavity search. Definitely would come through this checkpoint again. read more

It appears that since AZ legalized marijuana the checkpoint isn't so interested in playing drug cop. Recently (July 2021) the W. bound checkpoint was open. No sign of dogs and we were waved through....and that's the only reason they got 5 stars----for doing nothing!! read more

Just passed the checkpoint and I gotta say she's a beaut. They run this place right. The agents are polite, especially the pepper red head. The agent with the dog was easy on the eyes. I'm most impressed with the cleanliness of the area. They must have hired a professional. Guaranteed it's the same guy who did Chase Field. read more

Waited in line for over 4 hours with a solid 3 hours ahead of me. To get in to my own country. I literally went in to Mexico to eat supper. I had to pee in my water jug in the backseat of my van. I have never been more unimpressed with anything in my entire life. read more

So part of the year this is the only Border Patrol checkpoint between San Diego and Phoenix if you are Phoenix bound. The other half of the year they move operations between Dateland and the Sentinel rest area. When they're located here, the folks manning the checkpoint aren't very talkative and usually just wave me through. There usually is never much of a line to wait through either although your mileage may vary. Makes it hard to "check in" on Yelp and take pictures and stuff. Right beyond this point you start that steep climb down the hill on curvy roads - which ends just before you get to the Ligurta truck parking area. read more

What's with all the cameras as you pull up at a check point? I feel it's not necessary to take my photo while I travel across the states. I didn't come from Mexico and if I did I'm a US citizen and would have been checked at the California/Mexico border. Curious as to why. I know it's against our constitutional rights to even stop us.
