A Lawyer Who Truly Shows Up for You - Andy Rady, Harrison Pensa (London, ON)…read more
I was run over by a car and rendered unconscious. I remember nothing but the face of the person who hit me--and then blacking out. I woke up not even knowing I was bleeding from the head. What followed was not just physical trauma, but a long, complex journey through brain injury, confusion, dizziness, disorientation, pain, memory challenges, and deep psychological impact.
When I met Andy Rady, I knew immediately I wanted his help. I said "absolutely" when he offered it--and I'm so grateful I did. From day one, Andy has been present, capable, and relentlessly supportive through one of the most challenging chapters of my life.
This is not a typical injury, and Andy doesn't treat it like one. He understands the complexity of brain trauma--memory issues, psychological effects including posttraumatic stress disorder, disorientation, vision disruption, BPPV, facial nerve damage, speech-language pathology difficulties, dental injuries, memory challenges, social isolation, and MSK (musculoskeletal) injuries. He has never once been dismissive of my struggle. In fact, he's been the opposite: advocating, explaining, organizing, and helping to secure the care I need, even when the insurance company continues to put up barriers to proper recovery.
Andy speaks in a way I can understand, especially when my thinking is cloudy. He listens when I can't find the right words. He finds ways to move things forward when I feel like I'm standing still. And he does it all with honesty, warmth, and humor--even when I cry. He's a family-oriented, down-to-earth guy--smart, clever, and genuinely funny. He even loves football, which makes for great banter on the side. I was actually able to watch him on the field playing for the London Mustangs, and they won last year--I caught some of the highlights on YouTube.
He was even there for the smaller moments that meant a lot--like when I told him I could no longer play with my dog the way I used to. Andy advocated to have something as simple as peanuts included, so squirrels would come into the yard and give my Doberman something to watch and chase--just so she could stay active and entertained. It may seem small, but to me, that kind of thoughtfulness and attention to detail is everything. (Although, in a twist of fate, my dog got a little too enthusiastic and managed to snag a bird mid-air... but that just goes to show how effective his solution was.)
He's secured a comprehensive extended care team for me: an occupational therapist, psychologist, social worker, rehabilitation physiotherapist, kinesiologist, speech, language pathology, and a neuropsychological examination. These things were not handed out easily--he made them happen with consistent advocacy and dedication.
Andy even helped repair my bike, which means the world as I work toward regaining my physical independence.
And here's what I want people to know: Andy Rady understands what it means to live an active, social life. He understands what it means to lose that, and how important it is to reclaim it--not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and socially. He doesn't just push paperwork--he works toward a life worth living.
Throughout this journey, I've never lost sight of what I'm working toward. My goal is to get back to driving, being physically active, joining my choir, doing yoga, going to the gym, book club, music, church, dancing, reading my own books for leisure, employment, cooking, gardening, playing in the snow, swimming, playing tennis, biking, walking, hiking, and--hopefully--running again, even if it's with a walker. And I know with Andy's help, I'm not walking that road alone.
Why would I recommend Andy Rady? Because when everything in your life stops--when the future you knew vanishes and all you have left is the struggle to rebuild--what you need is someone who shows up, every single time, ready to listen, understand, and help you navigate the impossible. Andy is more than just a lawyer; he's a steady presence, a guide, my coach (special thanks to London Mustangs -he's my coach too!), and an advocate who meets you where you are, without judgment, with respect, compassion, with patience and real care. Without him, I wouldn't be as far in my recovery as I am today.
In terms of value? Absolutely.
The value of having someone like Andy Rady, is about what you get back. When your entire life is stripped down to the basics--when walking, thinking clearly, cooking a meal, or simply feeling safe become your daily goals--the real value is having someone who truly understands the weight of that.
Andy shown up every single time I've needed him, helped secure a team of care providers, stepped in when adjusters stalled. He advocated for practical, meaningful things--rehab, tools in my kitchen, help for my dog, and even fixed my bike.
Value-Absolutely. Andy Rady's guidance was worth every penny.
