The food is surprisingly good for bar food. Pizzas are great! Atmosphere is just a bar, but somehow you just don't care! It's great.

I love a place that tries so hard to capture everything with its name and misses everything. So. Bar: On your right. Restaurant: On your left. Restaurant includes pizza. And a lot more. For example, being from Pizza Land, I had a burger. The grilled cheese burger. Which was as glorious as the person who recommended I go here thought. It wasn't overly decadent like he thought, it wasn't huge like the staff thought, it's the right size for a nice price, prepared fresh with extra care. I had to ask 3 times but they actually. hand cut. the coleslaw. here. in house. Get the cole slaw. YUM. Oh, and get the grilled cheese. Gooey, overflowing with cheese, done just right. Bacon cheeseburger actually comes in second to the grilled cheese! (Which you can also get with bacon. And probably more cheese. I probably should have gotten 4x bacon 9x cheese grilled together. Now I know.) Yeah, the restaurant closes rather early (9 PM on a weekday), leaving the bar. I didn't wander into the bar. This is just the restaurant, but between the staff and the food, the whole place is a win to me, whatever it's called. read more

Adjusting my rating after my most recent visit. We were told an hour wait for food at least, and even explicitly told to pretty much not order the burger we wanted because it would not be as convenient for them right now as their other burger options. They also hit you with a 3% fee if you use a credit card. Not the nicest experience this time. read more

This is a fun local sports bar joint which supposedly has live music on Sundays. Randy, the only bartender was friendly and despite being slammed, made time to come over and wipe our table off since we were by the pool table. If you want food, you have to go to a separate counter on the other side of the bar to order and pay there. I ordered garlic cheesy bread, which was 4 slices and took about 25 min to get but it was good, albeit expensive-$9 with a modest tip. read more

In town for a hockey game and like to find good eateries in other towns. Went with the burgers because I read that they were large and hand patties. It took 30 minutes and was told it was due to the size and I went with it. As it turned out it should've taken 20 minutes. The burger was over-cooked and had absolutely no flavor or spices. The border bar has had highs and lows over the years. Its a staple for Fort Frances & Int. Fall families and a darn good one at that. They specialize at full pan thin crusted pizza's that are huge! Any combination is possible just about. Unlike some places you walk in place your order and pay then grab a seat. In 15min they then bring it right to ya so you can dine in peace. Oh and their burgers are crazy, home made by hand, no pre sized round slabs of beef. Its makes for one heck of a filling burger! I certainly recommend if your passing through fishing or a local. This place is perfect for what it is. My son and I were flopping in I-falls after a day of hiking in the national park. His burger was great but somewhat crazy. It was burger using two grilled cheese as a bun. Beer was$4.50 for a 22OZ IPA. Food and drinks were good, affordable and plentiful. I was a great meal to wrap up our day. read more

This is the best midwest style tavern cut style pizza I've ever had outside of my home- Chicago. It's a little on the greasy side, but the sausage is very good just like "back home" here in Chicago. I love the dive-y atmosphere of this classic family pizzeria! It's old school, so no healthy options aside from the fresh tomatoes on the 'Slim Jim' , but that doesn't matter when you're downing a pitcher of Rye & Ginger! That's right a pitcher of booze to yourself! I recommend starting with deep-fried chicken fries and cauliflower, then ordering an 'Ethel', topped with ham, ground beef and mushrooms! This is by no means a 5 star place - even comparing it to other places in the area. The food is decent, nothing special. There is a large bar area with tables and TV's and another area that is mainly for diners away from the bar. It has a video game machine (Buck Hunter or something like that)... Ok, it's a tradition. Had a pizza already this trip up here so I thought, "Why not try a burger?" Many friends & rels said they have good ones. So I ordered a California basket with fried onions. They gave me a password for their wifi which never did work, even when I just gave it to my server & had them type it in. Ok, gave up on that - not really a big deal. If the burger is good then I'll forget all about wifi anyway, right? Maybe. I'll never know because....well.....it wasn't. They delivered a burger that I could barely fit in my hand, it was so big. I know - big is good, right? Maybe in other things but not in this case. The meat patty was a good inch larger than the bun. Sometimes that can be kitschy if done right, but in this case they piled on so much lettuce on one side that it was virtually un-bite-able. I felt like I crawled inside the burger and ate my way out! It took twenty napkins to get through half of it. The fried onions were great but the burger was basically devoid of seasoning. It was just meat - I mean not even salt & pepper. Nothing irks me like a cook who doesn't know how to use salt & pepper. Ok, the fries were FANTASTIC. Saved the meal. Hot, crispy, not greasy, and they tasted great. They have that down. But for crying out loud, teach your cooks basic meat seasoning! read more

Pizza was great!! However we got way over charged. Ordered an Ethel's without mushrooms and instead of charging the Ethel's price they charged for each individual topping and it cost almost twice as much. It was $53 for 3 medium pizzas. Only recommendation is to watch your bill. read more
