Since working here as a youngster as my first Saturday job I have always been a fan of Boots…read morestores! Eldon square boots can get very congested but that's because you can now get pretty much anything all in one location. Always good offers to be had and those Boots loyalty points soon rack up if you regularly buy your essentials here. The staff can be slightly hit and miss if like me you need help picking a hair dye due to the sudden spurt of grey hairs! Then again you can't expect staff to be knowledgeable about all products as there are just too many. It's worth noting that you can get your prescriptions sent directly from your GP to the pharmacy and there is even a doctors surgery downstairs for those living in the city centre.

Always willing to answer any questions I have. To be honest, I can't think of anything negative to say about them, apart from I never get offered a cup of tea or coffee while I wait for my prescription to be processed lol.

The store is a decent size, albeit in terms of product range it lacks selection compared to other stores nearby such as WHSmith and even other Superdrug stores including branches at Manchester Piccadilly Gardens and Gateshead intu Metrocentre. The store is quite cluttered and it is a little bit of a tight squeeze to get into and around the store at certain areas. The promotion of 2 for £2 in terms of drinks which is typical of all Superdrug stores remained in use here, but the selection of drinks was so poor compared to their other branches, they didn't seem to stock Starbucks iced coffee beverages, Evian juices and Lipton iced tea other than peach. The staff also didn't stand out, for good reasons at least, they just seemed poor and not too helpful, which was a shame. In decor terms it seemed like a typical Superdrug, albeit it wasn't as modern as other branches such as intu Metrocentre and Durham. The selection for most other items remained poor/below average which is shockingly terrible for a store of a fairly decent size, hence sadly justifies a single one star rating for this store.

I called in here on two occasions, once to each end of the store mainly to pick up drinks, overall the drink selection was good however at the other end of the store, down the escalators away from the main shop floor, the drink selection was highly poor with only Coca Cola and Diet Coca Cola stocked at £1.37 each or two for £2, this offer was unmarked yet it is the same offer from rival retailer Superdrug, who have a branch in Newcastle city centre, not really close by but within walking distance of course. The confusing layout of the store also is frustrating and could also lead to forcing people to go in and out of the store while shopping, especially if one struggles with steps and escalators, such as wheelchair users and the elderly. The staff didn't seem too friendly either, just average, a little robotic perhaps. The overall layout of the store was a typical Boots, it is set out a little bit like a department store in ways with many stalls from designer and high-end brands in the main part of the store, however despite walking around that bit as well, I was not welcomed either which makes me wonder if Boots even greet or welcome their customers, this was a real shame. The size of the store and selection is good enough to warrant two stars, albeit not throughout the store and the confusing layout and poor service for me sadly makes it hard to give this branch anything more than two stars.

The staff was really fast and helpful handling my prescription. I was nauseous and coughing for days and the doctors at the GP stuck to paracetamol but i felt sluggish anyway. We ventured back to the start of the concourse and discovered this large branch of Boots beckoning us. It is pretty large, especially by airport standards and stocks their whole range, including their coveted food section which we ended up getting our plane meals from. I had a Philadelphia and ham sandwich, which was nice and kept me filled for 4 long hours on the plane. I also got a bag of salt and vinegar Walkers crisps and a bottle of Irn Bru (true Scot here!) Even though the shop was very busy, the queues went down quickly and we were served by friendly staff members who were very efficient. I would say that Boots is the best bet for buying food in Newcastle Airport, as it is pretty cheap and nowhere else in the terminal is.
Rather large for an airport Boots store
