Booths are kind of like a northern Waitrose, a moderately-high end supermarket with some high-quality items, their location here in Penwortham is a short drive away from Preston town centre and Walton-Le-Dale.
The staff here, like at pretty much any Booths are typically friendly, the guy who was manning the fresh fish/meat counters was especially excellent, he went above and beyond to help. I specifically like the fish cakes from here made with the best quality fish, and cheese, they cook really well and are restaurant quality. They're usually £2 each or 2 for £2.50, which is pretty good value considering the quality, freshness and the fact you could pay that for pre-packaged, frozen ones.
The checkout area was a little small, and I would have liked some self-scan checkouts for speed, especially if you're only going into the store for a couple of items, I think Booths are trying to shine on their great staff by adding the personal touch into service, which is nice, but not if you're in a rush.
I do think the free-from / gluten-free selection was not as large as other Booths stores, and they were out of stock of the Findlater's bread, which is normally good from here, admirably I did visit on the late evening of a Bank Holiday, where they were open much later than other supermarkets (including Tesco and Waitrose), so I was just glad they were open.
