(there were so many kids in it now…read moreit was difficult to take pictures without looking creepy LOL) new structures promote climbing and safe spins; swing set streamlined and added with a large full-back seat and pull-down lock-in harness. many of above state "for age 5 and up", but plenty of younger folks seem to enjoy them equally. i personally supervise my own very closely to ensure safety for all. most caretakers i have seen on this ground seem to be doing the same. small "tree house" library is added on new ground as well. hope we can all take part in keeping it nice and filled. only issue so far is the bathroom. while i'm glad the facility was available when i needed to use it, the condition inside was abysmal. it stank, toilet paper thrown everywhere, hand soap dispenser missing with the refilling bag lying around helplessly. was shocked to find the stark contrast of the state of the bathroom with the new stuff right outside. later learned it was likely a result of repeated vandalism and irresponsible use during off hours. sad that the town may have to decide to lock it up to prevent future happenings.

Relaxing, quiet, and so many nice spots to enjoy the ponds, waterfall, spring noises of frogs, and foliage in the fall. I ride my bike or run or walk through regularly and enjoy it. The wide variety of trails and the mileage of trails is why visit here more. Dog friendly and very relaxed leash policy. Trails are pretty well maintained. Very rocky and hilly. Lots of watering holes, but most are dried up toward the middle of season. Trails are marked via painted trail markers on trees or rocks. Maps are scarce so make sure to snap a pic of one before venturing. The yellow trail from start to finish is ~9 miles alone and most trails interlink with each other. Very easy to get lost if you don't know the park. Parking is free. I usually park on Mill st where the State Forest Fire department is located, but there's probably 10+ parking areas surrounding the park including one off route 1 near Gillette. Con: terrain is tough, especially if you want to run. Also easy to get lost. I can't stress this enough. Take a pic of the map before going in the park. 4/5 stars

Lunch tables are available near the fountains by the stream. Duck do visit the pond. However, there has been an increase in geese in recent years. Signs are posted stating not to feed the birds. There is plenty of grass for a blanket or picnic. A special treat is the yearly rubber duck race for young children. Still a local pleasure, we will return.

Ample parking and clearly marked trails made it easy to navigate. I didn't get a chance to stop in the center as the doors were locked, but the facilities look great for all Audubon does. I did forget my spray and like a novice hiker went on the vernal pool loop which had average level of bugs that accompanied me during the loop. Great place to stretch your legs, leashed pets were a no go here for planning purposes, but don't fret they are allowed at neighboring Moose Hill Farm.
