I've spent too much money elsewhere in Utah at Surefoot and was totally under delivered a boot that made my ski experience haunting but Dr. Bob at Bootdoctors came to my rescue. The service dept. found the exact part I needed and installed it at a very reasonable price. The employees are very friendly, knowledgeable and eager to get you back on the mountain. Stopped in on a whim to see if my wife's new Lange boots could be snugged up. The team was welcoming, took her right in, explained a few fit tips and got to work. Buckles were repositioned, heel pocket was formed with ankle padding, a shim was added to bring her foot higher in the shell followed by a quick lesson in proper top down buckling technique and viola!, problems solved. I believe they charged about $50 but worked on her boots for nearly an hour, all the while explaining what was being done in a way that was not-at-all condescending as some techs can be. One of the techs was from our home town of Crested Butte. Just came out of friendly conversation. We left Bootdoctors completely satisfied and feeling like we made new friends! 5-star service with a smile! read more

After measuring my feet, seeing how I stand, and asking questions, customized the foot bed. When I took a ski run, edging was pain free. My dad's binding came completely off his ski in the middle of a run. Thankfully he didn't get incredibly injured! Absolutely unacceptable that this would happen and handled extremely poorly by the staff. Skis banged up and low quality to begin with, for $60 a day. Needs boots or want get your's to fit better. Go see the guys at Boot Doctors. I have Shrek like feet, and getting boots to fit right has been one my biggest challenges. We ski Telluride several weeks a year and always after a day or two on the snow my feet and chins are cut and bruised. I went into the Mtn Village store and worked with the guys there. They set me up with the Fischer Vacume boots. It took a couple of times to get them right but I can't say enough great things about the entire crew at Boot Doctors. A real letter I wrote to Bob Gleason, President of Bootdoctors and Paragon Outdoors: Dear Mr. Gleason, My name is Dray Sterling and I just returned home from a short ski vacation with my son, Jake (12), in Telluride. We were on a father-son vacation to spend some time together - just the two of us (mom and sister stayed home) - and were having a great time overall. However, Jake was having quite a problem with the ski boots we had rented from another business in Mountain Village - so much so that it limited the amount of time we could ski each day because his feet hurt so much. Of course, having great, quality time skiing together was the whole point of the vacation. After asking a few Telluride veteran skiers where to go for the best rental equipment and consultation in Mountain Village it was clear from the unanimous answers that BootDoctors would receive a desperate visit from us that day! We walked over to your Mountain Village location immediately. Upon entering the retail side of the store we explained our situation to the nice, young lady who greeted us. She took us strait back to the rental area, asked us to complete Jake's skier profile on the computer and told us she would have us work with Bryce. Bryce smiled, waved from behind the counter and started chatting with Jake while I finished-up his skier profile. By the time I joined them over at the rental fitting area Bryce and Jake were well into their conversation about Jake's boot/foot issues from the "other place", his skiing experience, skill level, goals to develop as a skier, as well his overall athletic experience, types of sports he enjoys away from the slopes (tennis), and other qualitative questions about Jake and what kind of guy he is . . . as a person. After learning about Jake, the athlete and person, Bryce moved on to the quantitative stuff - foot measurements, height, weight, etc. - before picking a boot for Jake to try. I was not surprised at all that Bryce's first choice of a boot for Jake fit perfectly. However, I was pleasantly surprised that Bryce spent the time to explain to us why the boot he chose for Jake should be a great fit for his feet as he was placing one of them on Jake's foot for the first time. In 15 minutes, Bryce taught us more about ski boots and proper fit than I had learned during my 30 years of skiing. "This boot is 10 times more comfortable that the boot from the 'other place'", was Jakes comment when we asked how it felt. I will summarize the ski an pole-fitting process by telling you it was just as thorough as that of the boots - excellent! Jake's comfort and experience in Bryce's recommended equipment on the slopes the following day was the polar opposite of that in the "other place's" equipment. We had the best day of our whole vacation - controlled, comfortable skiing; great, quality time together; happiness; and memories that will last forever. In other words, Bryce did not just fit Jake in the right equipment - he taught us and expanded our knowledge about ski equipment. But more importantly, Bryce basically saved the last day of our vacation, he made a father and son have a great time together. He affected life! We are so grateful to Bryce for being "Bryceless" and to you for the culture you have created at BootDoctors® & Paragon Outdoors. My family will rent from BootDoctors again next ski season (multiple times if we get to ski as much as we wish) and I plan to stop contemplating the purchase of my own equipment and finally buy custom fit boots and some Wagner Custom Skis with killer graphics! My wife and I went to Telluride for our honeymoon and had a great experience with this company. We scheduled a mountain bike tour and half day of river rafting. This company is full of AMAZING people! Over the course of a week we had been to all three shops and every employee treated us like we were there best friends. The river guide was great!! Very experienced and knowledgeable with everything to do with the river and history of Telluride. The mountain bike tour down lizard head pass was something I never forget. The guide was super nice and made the first time mountain bike experience for my wife a GREAT one. I've never written a review before but this company deserves a sixth star!! After last season, I was uncertain if I could ski again this year. Had Morton's Neuroma in my left foot and tender spots on both feet such that I could barely walk for an hour after taking off my ski boots. I am very pleased to write a positive review about Bootdocters. I usually don,t write at all, but I really should because of the GREAT personal care I recieved from Margie at Taos Ski Valley. I purchased a pair of ski boots last fall, and they did not work for my feet, I went back to have them adjusted with insole inserts at the beginning of last year skiing. I tried them a couple times and my feet really hurt so I used my old ones. I contacted Bootdocter at the end of spring and they wanted me to bring them back. We live pretty far from Toas so I could not get back till August 25. Margie had my purchase record from when I bought them, and I tried on some different boots and found a pair that are great. Margie exchanged the old pair for a new pair. NO HASSLE! This is the way all retail sales should be all the time. Thank You Margie for your expert advise, and your great personality. Though they offer "customer satisfaction" related to boots fitting properly, their promise is disingenuous. I bought a pair of boots and they were very uncomfortable. Every time I returned to advise of my displeasure, they said try this, try that or buy a boot heater, which I did. Ultimately, I returned and said I tried everything and nothing you've suggested worked. Their retort at that point was, well it's now too late, sorry. When I spoke with the owner, he replied - sorry you had a bad experience. Telluride Sports is far superior and where I ultimately bought my replacement boots. read more

I would NEVER suggest that anyone book a rafting trip from Bootdoctors. They make you wear wetsuits while rafting due to the cold water temperatures, however, they don't wash the wetsuits between each use. I felt dirty during the entire experience, and developed a bad rash a few days after my rafting trip. Ultimately, this company is disgusting and unclean, I would never suggest it to anyone. read more

Beware of this tourist cash trap, they reel you in and before you know it you'll be borrowing from the bank.. They are nice folks over there, but the prices are off the wall and their so-called "guaranteed comfort" comes to realization after you bring them back to be "altered" to your foot and let them charge you another $250 for something that you "need". Any Telluride local will tell you to stay away from this place, for obvious reasons. BEWARE of their policy claiming that your boots are under warranty when you buy them. If ANYTHING goes wrong with your boots they charge you full price to repair and "waive" their labor charge (usually about 6-7 minutes of work for them).. Get ready to drop another $200.. I like their selection, but all in all they just steal money from rich people they know they can take advantage of - it's sad, but a business model that certainly works in this town. A $700 pair of boots there will end up costing you $1400-$1500 once they get you all your "necessities" for the boot... Hit up Telluride Sports, great guys over there, reasonable prices too. read more

Our family was in Telluride for spring break March 2017. I have 4 boys under 13, so needless to say it is always a little hectic getting everyone outfitted for the week. We have been going to Telluride once or twice a ski season for over a decade, and have always had good experiences with BootDoctors. This year, my 10 year old son was having terrible foot pain on the first day, so my wife took him back to BootDoctors to check out the boots. Some adjustments were made, and the pain got worse. Again we go back to BootDoctors after the ski day was done and we were helped by Jim. Jim invested some serious time to figure out the issue. We needed an insert that they were out of in the Mountain Village location, but in stock in their Telluride store. We were instructed to come back the next morning at 8 to finish the fitting. We came at 8, connected with Jim again only to find out that the insert never came. He quickly decided that the only way to get us on the mountain by nine was to custom make an insert. 30 minutes later we were walking out with custom inserts and happy feet! Excellent service recovery!! We look forward to using BootDoctors again next year! read more

I seem to get shin bang every time I ski - to the point that I purchased my own boots two years ago in Beaver Creek. We skied Telluride this past week and long story short, I got shin bang so badly that my skin was scraped. My shins were swollen and I had bruising beginning on day one. I tried skiing on them the next day and made it an hour. My instructor referred me to Boot Doctors. I walked in with my swollen ankles and boots and explained the situation. The guy at the front smiled and said to follow him. I was whisked around the corner and met Jimbo and the staff who I will say do boot magic. They made custom insoles to go on top of my regular insoles, they banged, tweaked, banded and who knows what other mojo! About 45 minutes later (as I started to sweat as I hadn't asked exactly how much this was all going to cost) I checked out with my refreshed boots to the tune of about $240. I seriously thought a one was missing somewhere. They cooked, tweaked, did everything they could think of to help out. Jimbo insisted I come back the next day if I even felt a tweak of something that wasn't fitting correctly. Honestly, I know the pain of shin bang and just hoped this would give me two hours on the slopes with my family. I actually skied blacks the next day all day with little to no pain. I referred a friend with a neuroma in his foot and he went in and same thing - he skied rest of trip with no pain. I was so surprised that I stopped back in to Boot Doctors, found Jimbo and personally thanked him. Wow. The level of service, friendliness and knowledge is amazing there. We've skied everywhere, but Telluride seems to be where we are staying. I will only rent skis and boots for my sons from there from now on. It's hard for this 40 something mom to keep up with two boys and a husband, but I had a blast and held my own - thanks to Boot Doctors. Sounds like a commercial but so true! My ski shop referred me to BootDoctors as they had a NILS pant (High End), that I needed. I ordered them on line and they were promptly shipped. When received they were tried on and did not fit so we returned them quickly. I received a notice that they took shipping of $20. off the purchase and then would only give me "in store credit". Of course I would have to pay shipping again and in fact had to pay shipping to return the items of $10.50. Was told that the receipt showed only in store credit. No one discussed this with me when ordering I did not get a receipt upon my order! In today's on-line world this is just not heard of and they were just indignant and inflexible in there handling of a customer. My Utah ski shop will be disappointed to know their referral and recommendation were handled so inappropriately! I like personal service, that is why I rarely use Amazon and am willing to pay for shipping if need be. You would think a shop like this would recognize their personal value! read more

I always send my friends to Boot Doctors for their boot fittings and purchases but haven't had the pleasure of their expert service myself in several years. Well, last week, I acquiesced to the coaxing of my husband and went in to consider getting new boots. My old boots still seemed dialed in but luckily my husband recognized that I had started complaining about them without even realizing it. Well, Mike M. expertly guided me to three boot options after closely paying attention to my answers to all his questions. He was spot on in his assessment of the best boot for me but let me make my own choice after giving me all the facts. He was so incredibly knowledgable, patient, and enjoyable to work with (pretty important given the several hours of time invested in the process). I purchased the boots and then was in for a WOW factor. I cannot believe how much they improved my skiing. And as "dialed in" as they are...not a single "hot spot".
