He checked me in, offered me a hot cup of tea and chatted about dogs until my appointment time. I mean, what more could you want while you wait? It was inviting, welcoming and relaxing! My appointment started with an in-depth consultation. John asked me a series of questions to help better understand my reason for seeking acupuncture, as well as, answered all my questions about the practice and methods of acupuncture. I really appreciated this moment, because it allowed me as a patient to develop trust and to see how much John cared. After the Q&A, I hopped onto the table for my initiation into the acupuncture world. I'll be honest.. I was nervous. Was it going to hurt? How far were the needles going to go into my skin? Suddenly, I had a ton of new questions about what was going to happen. Luckily, John explained everything as he worked. As it turns out, I had nothing to worry about! John focused on three different areas during my appointment: my back, my feet and my head. Yes, my head! Wild, right? I had no idea you could have acupuncture done on your head, but you can and I did! Clearly, it was a really cool epiphany for me haha. The acupuncture in all three spots did not hurt at all. In fact, by the end of it, I felt so relaxed and could not wait to book another appointment!

As the chosen…read moreacupuncturist for her field, I noted that she was exceedingly knowledgeable about what she does and she uses a triggerpoint specific, problem focused method of treating her patients. As a doctor myself, I have been treated by her for swelling in a previously broken ankle and a hip flexor tendonitis issue that I have had repeatedly pop up after long runs. Allison has not only truly aided myself but I have referred over many patients with repeated muscle tone issues, arthritis, and degenerative issues in knees and wrists that I cannot aid. I must say that she has helped better (with less side effects) than any corticosteroid injection or massage could do. I know because I do deep tissue work and she can melt a difficult knot in moments. Because of this, she is invited into my medical tent anytime and is one of my favorite peers. She is extremely knowledgeable, considerate and very gifted.

A very relaxing, unique, refreshing, and fun experience. I have allergies and take over the counter Meds. I didn't feel anything different with my allergies while I was in the salt spa but for three days after my visit I didn't need my allergy meds. I saw a lot of people reading a book while they were in the spa and wish I had brought one. It was a wonderful experience and I would love to do it on a regular basis. The Louisville office and their Salt Spa in Lakewood provide revolutionary and effective services supported by ancient and modern science, some used in conventional medical settings that tend to be inaccessible or unknown to the general public, for example, Lymphatic Massage and PEMF. The emphasis in Ayurvedic consultation is similarly on prevention and understanding of health, helping clients learn their individual health tendencies and risk areas and how to support their own well being. Ayurveda is based on results over thousands of years, and other services on effective newer technologies, scientifically proven-- thereby providing proven therapies from both ancient and modern wisdom. I belonged to Kaiser through employment for many years, both here and in the east, and found their version of preventive medicine ineffective, more corporate than scientific, and relying often on incomplete understanding of health problems, and problematic medications that attempted to address only symptoms, not causes. East West is utterly unique, even for the Boulder area with its progressive reputation, and possibly for the whole country. We're lucky to have them. While there are many other alternative or complementary offerings in town, these tend to be limited, and often of unknown quality or un-researched. One can easily invest significant time and resources in any number of alternative practices. It's relatively easy in Colorado to hang out an alternative practitioner shingle. It isn't easy to establish an effective, more accountable alternative practice, let alone one that is cutting edge, based on considerable training in both conventional and complementary medicine, and meeting standards in both areas. I only wish I had found East West earlier.

I can only relay a shadow of my experience, but I implore you to really hear me when I say... she has CHANGED. MY. LIFE. A year ago, I was defeated and resigned to being chronically ill. I was down to a small number of "safe" foods. Chronic fatigue/stress, dysregulated hormones, bloating, weight gain and pain were my daily fight. I had inflammatory reactions to everything, including exercise. My ability to be present with my family, run my businesses with a clear brain, or enjoy a moment of life were all impaired. I saw dozens of doctors (eastern and western) and I always landed back on the tightrope of managing my precarious health. My symptoms and reactions to traditional treatments didn't match textbook explanations and most doctors stopped looking for answers. I sit here today... balanced, clear minded, full of flavorful foods (no more restrictions beyond my celiac disease) and immensely hopeful. I've lost count of how many "good days" I've strung together - a year ago it was mere hours. I dare to say that this is how healthy people live. Dr Sigmond took the time to dive deep into what didn't make sense. With each test (from my genetics to my mitochondria) Dr Sigmond unlocked doors, uncovered answers and ultimately made sense from mystery. She was kind, conscientious, gentle, and simultaneously stubborn in her determination to lead me to health. My medical journey has been the better part of my 46 years. I'll spare you the details... it was a snowball of growing illnesses & sensitivities. I'm happy to say that I have managed to shed much of that weight - metaphorically and literally. Whether your story is simple, complicated, or merely preventative... I truly believe that Dr Sigmond has the intellect and determination to optimize your physical, mental, and emotional wellness.
