This place has really gone down hill over the years. However, the most disturbing thing is that many local people pass it by now and would rather drive to Rockaway Lanes or Hanover Lanes just to avoid the nasty lady the works the front desk there. She is abrasive and nasty and lacks the basics in customer service. After looking at other reviews which are much the same as this one it amazes me that Nationwide Bowling chooses her as the face of their business. It is unfortunate because this place was a regular well loved and frequently visited place while growing up. We will drive the extra 10 minutes to Rockaway Lanes in order to avoid being treated rudely. read more

Possibly one of the most baffling experiences I've ever had going out with friends. Checking in, our group-on for 4 people was denied by the front desk lady for an entirely indiscernible reason. Not to say her reason didn't make sense, but she barely could sound out words in whatever alien-speak meth-rotted mumble she could muster- just sounding out occasional negative grunts. We truly had no idea of anything she said, but it was brief and mad sounding. We also happened to go during a bowling league event, and us being the only casuals, they set us up with the one lane that did not function properly at all. Randomly it would skip turns, award extra moves by not recording the score properly, or give less than what was hit. It was distracting and un-fun. We spent the entire hour and a half session theory crafting as to why the lane was doing this. At one point we mentioned that the lane was obviously malfunctioning, again to the front desk lady, and she incoherently mumbled over to our lane, gestured apishly at the reset pins button, and left. While the button worked to reset pins, it did not fix any of the before mentioned problems and we were left even more confused. We ended up just manually entering in our scores every single turn, on what could possibly be the first computer terminals ever invented, operating on cold-war era DOS levels of responsiveness. Drinks were light and the men at the bar were weird to us. The most fun anyone was having was the lady doing a bump of coke in the parking lot. God help us all. read more

This place has definitely seen better days. Definitely not the modern bowling alley place like lucky strike. Extremely understaffed with one employee literally doing everything for a Friday afternoon when we went for a school function. It took the poor guy 30 minutes to get the lanes up and running for the kids. Food menu is tiny and the staff who finally showed up to work the snack bar were friendly. Just had my sons birthday party there. Mike helped set up everything and was wonderful. The only downside was the heinous woman with pink hair that worked there. One of the kids balls went into another lane so a father walked to get it after not being able to get someone's attention. She ran over to scold him in front of the kids and another time later on. On the way out she was overheard complaining about the kids party. Would go back but if we see her there we'll go elsewhere. Was a great day until her encounters. But like I said. Corrine Bailey was so helpful. I brought my grandchildren to Boonton Lanes and she was so polite. She helped us with shoes since nobody knew their sizes. So my experience here last night was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. We aboslutely wont be back. First we arrive and asked the lady who was at desk if we could be at a lane away from people since it seemed they put everyone (4 different groups) all very close to each other. She gave us an attitude response and said there was only 1 lane available. This is bs since the whole place was empty besides the 4 parties. Next we decided we wanted drinks. Only two of us were drinking and the lady asked for all our ids and then said well this doesnt look like you. Clearly she didnt want to serve us and then what really made me pissed off was that she told us to wear a mask while we have a beer. While doing this she then insisted on talking shit about us to others in place sitting at bar area which we found out was an actual worker of this establishment. They didbt make others wear masks at all and was up our ass about enjoying a beverage. By far the worst experience i have ever had at a bowling alley and i wont ever go back. My family and I attended Booton Lanes last night on a whim. We bowl ever so often, but when we do we have a blast in challenges....;) All I have I seriously positive things to say about this establishment. Boonton lanes has His and hers bathrooms and locker rooms. A fool bar with pool tables and darts. A pro shop for all your pro bowling needs. Snack bars, vending machines and a chef to make burgers, hotdogs and pizza. The best part of Boonton Lanes is of course the lanes. PBA Designed 24 lane traditional 10 pin bowling alley's. I will never go to this bowling center again. They lady was so rude and lying. They said it's 5$ per person but at the end they charged more than 15$ per person and claimed that they dropped more balls. There is no proper system to show you that your game is over such as in other children games center. So, please make sure at the beginning how much they gonna charge you at end. They don't accept payment at the beginning as in other places. This is exactly a " rubbery " in a modern style. read more

My daughter's travel softball team had their end of year party here tonight and they girls had a blast. Some of us parents hung around to watch the Giants game in the bar and had a pretty good time. Bartender was attentive even though she was pulling double duty with the front desk. I don't bowl a whole lot anymore, but Boonton Lanes seems like a pretty clean place with nice lanes and really helpful staff (bonus-the men's room was very clean). They have a Pizza Hut express place right on-site and while I absolutely hate Pizza Hut pizza, the rest of the food was really good. Excellent wings (though the 'hot' wings simply weren't), fresh salad, breadsticks, etc, was all delicious. It was great that they gave us a bunch of lanes and didn't bust our chops about a bunch of very loud 13-18 year olds running rampant in the place. read more

Bowling is more fun as an adult. Because alcohol. My friend Caity lives far away and we wanted to double date somewhere in the middle. We got there at 9:30 and had a couple of drinks at the bar. Prices were not bad, $9.50 for both a Jack & Coke and a Blue Moon. The bartender was a sweetheart, but she also runs around helping the check-in guy among other things so you might end up waiting a little bit in between rounds. What attracted us was to this particular place was the late bird special: all you can bowl for $13/person from 10pm-1am on Saturdays. Considering we ended up playing 5 games the price was not bad at all. On the downside, It's very small compared to other bowling places I've been to. It felt very cramped and outdated. For food they have Pizza Hut (barf) and some other snacks. I was considering getting a pretzel until I saw someone ahead of me purchase one, it did not look appetizing. Oh well, time to fill up on more alcohol. They played late 90's, early 2000's music which hit me right in the nostalgia. I had a good time overall. Who needs fancy lighting and updated graphics? Clean and modern inside. Very friendly and helpful staff, from the front desk right down to the bartenders. They've changed my lane when I had problems, they've even gotten down on hands and knees to clean off excess oil. You really get a great deal here, especially on weeknights but at any time. If you can choose any bowling place in north-central NJ, come here. I live near a couple other places, but this is where I go for recreation and leagues. read more

Rude customer service on the phone. I was asking about reserving 2 lanes for $50 a piece. When I was told that it couldn't Be done unless I reserved 4 lanes, I decided to take my chances. This was for my son and a few of his friends for his birthday. Anyway, i called back to see about the availability (just to see if there were 2 parties going on or 6, I was told, "just come and wait your turn". Seriously? I would have 7 nine year olds waiting hours to play? Don't think so. She was so rude! Trying now to find another bowling alley to play at. read more

Last night BF and I went to knock down a few pins. Things went well until we went to pay. On the piece of paper that the employee gives you (indicating your lane number, # of shoe rentals, and price per game) it clearly states at the bottom "Free game if we do not ask you to join a league or if you do not get a receipt" When we went to pay, we were Not asked to join a league nor given a receipt. I asked the male employee about it to which he called over the female employee. I explained to her about the free game and asked for a free game voucher. She said "we don't have free game vouchers." So I replied, "Can I have my money back for one of the games I played then?" She says with a very nasty attitude "We don't give back money for free games." I then told her that they were promoting false advertising. She then begrudgingly opened the cash register and said to me "Here is the price for a shoe rental." ($3.75) I told her that the price of a game was $5.25 to which she practically ripped the money out of my hand and gave me a five dollar bill and a quarter. She turned around and walked away. I have been bowling here since I was 5 it's seen worst and better days. Now their problem is the machine screws up the pattern it's inconsistent as anything now one day you can go up 10 or even 7 and now it's like your on a teetering edge of 15 or dead center 20. Pizza Hut has never been that good I try not to order as much as possible. The pro shop. Not a pro shop. Te owner Craig has turned the place around since the last guy had it I'll give him that he's by far reincarnated the house but I'm sadly being pushed away from it yet again. I've bowled in leagues here for the past few years and like the place. They offer some competitive and fun leagues in the fall and host a nice King of the Hill tournament in the summer. The staff has always been friendly and helpful whenever I've been there, the manager Craig has always been nice and helpful with everything. I wouldn't say this is the most modern bowling center out there but it's a fairly nice and clean place to bowl. The restrooms could use an update, and the pro shop is lacking in having bowling accessories in stock. ex: tape, towels, ball cleaner to name a few. The snack bar/Pizza Hut is decent, the Snapple machine is a +. All in all a nice place to open bowl, bowl league, and hold children's birthday parties. read more

The lady who owns this bowling alley is extremely rude. I brought 5 young adults with special needs to this bowling alley and she treated us so poorly. She initially pt us in 2 lanes next to each other and then had to switch us (we already started) because we couldn't be next to a bowling team. Then, she shut off our game 20 minutes into our game due to her miscommunication. She gave us major attitude and didn't turn it back on until we had to apologize. Total discrimination against young adults with special needs. However l, the woman who worked at the concession stand was awesome. She showed extreme patience and kindness. I only come here for our company outings. This is a decent, local small business. It feels a little dated, but is fine to come for a few games. Don't expect anything like Lucky Strike or any of those "big box" bowling alleys. There is a bar as well as a snack bar. The staff is friendly and helpful.There is plenty of parking, and is convenient to the highway. read more

I never liked the conditions here. I averaged 190's in most houses but could never get above 170 here. My problem I guess, but I know another bowler who carried a 200+ average in another house and 160ish here. It doesn't make it a bad place at all. If you are used to it you can do well and great bowlers adjust. That's the difference between me and great bowlers. read more

First off let me say I am a lousy bowler, I just go to hang out with my friends, so what I have to say should be taken with a grain of salt. I should also point out that we went on a Saturday night, peak time. Boonton lanes is small compared to other alleys, so there is wait during peak hours, good reason to go to the bar there. The scoring equipment is modern-ish (keep in mind the expense of updating) and it is very user friendly. I disagree with other reviews, I felt the snack bar to be pretty good, we had buffalo chicken strips and loaded fries, the fries we quite good. The kitchen was spotlessly clean as well as the floors at the alley. The bathrooms were the exception not very clean, no surprise here busy night. The bar prices were very reasonable and the bartender was very polite. Check-in is pretty crazy and somewhat confusing. Most reviewers comment that the check-in counter workers are rude or impolite, I disagree, but I feel the check in process needs some work as the employees seem very harried. BIG plus, the pinsetter didn't break, and we tried hard. Bottom line: Standard bowling alley but could use some tweaks to the check in process read more

Me and my friends went to this place but I was very disappointed with the employees attitude. There was one female who was not very nice to me and my friends. She was rude, denying us for putting our bumpers up even though we are only 14. There was a famous celebrity from our childhood and my friends wanted to take a picture with him, but she denied our friends but not other who took pictures with him after. Overall, I am very disappointed with this employees rudeness and attitude. read more
