It's a charmy, quirky little bookshop - messy shelves stuffed with books and a few arm chairs on the second floor of a pretty building. I stopped by with a friend last Saturday and quickly found two books to take on the plane home with me the following day. Great prices, plenty to choose from, and very quirky - it's a great place for English speakers/readers to stop by if in Mexico City.

This place is no ordinary bookstore. I would consider it an actual destination with every book…read moreimaginable about everything especially the culture of México. It's not Amazon warehouse big but it's definitely very spacious with two levels. The way that they have glass floors on the second level almost reminds me of the huge library located near Buenavista. There is also a café that offers customers WiFi with purchase. There are also plenty of tables, chairs, and comfortable sofas for customers to sit and read. I found a book that was interesting alled El Cerebro Del Futuro and I'm going to give it a try. Spanish is not native to me and I hope that this book will help me with my Spanish learning journey. First off, The ambiance at this particular location was a 10/10! They do have multiple locations , we chose this one in particular because we were planning on exploring the Polanco area! Walking in you can see their covered patio that is connected to their bookstore! You do havee the option to sit inside or outside! We opted for inside seating, and were offered in my personal opinion, one of the best tables in the entire cafe! It was on the second floor overlooking the library! Now the food! It is a café, so they have a diverse menu of drinks! I ordered a carajillo, and it was great, definitely a more simple take on it. My boyfriend ordered a Americano, and he loved it! For food we started off with some guac and chips! OMG I absolutely loved their chips! You can tell they make them in house! For my entree I ordered the tilapia and my bf the mole and both were not only a 10/10, but the presentation was chefs kiss! I def recommend! Overall, the service, ambiance, and experience was phenomenal! I would def return on my next trip to CDMX!

There were some also great books about Spain and Portugal that piqued my interest as well. John Sistiaga's Purgatorial was a toned down brief version of the actual novel. They got booked stacked all the way to the ten foot ceiling and they even offer a ten foot step ladder for those who would be dating enough to try to use it. All of their collections are used, and they do a good job categorizing and sorting everything out for the viewing public. The only downside to this bookstore is the lack of seating. I noticed a sing chair. That being said, it's not the type of bookstore where you would want to hang out.

I had heard that the Librería Porrúa in Bosque de Chapultepec was gorgeous, and it is. The…read morebookstore faces the Lago de Chapultepec (located in Section 1), so it has incredible views. Not every bookstore can offer lake views while you sit and enjoy a coffee. That's definitely the highlight of this Librería Porrúa. However, the bookstore didn't seem that well taken care of or well stocked. The books seemed older, and I was surprised that they had so few books in English since other bookstores in Mexico City typically have a pretty good selection. The bookstore seemed more of a cafe with a small bookstore, rather than the other way around. But there's lots of seating and those views are incredible. I do think there are better bookstores in Mexico City, however! Stop by if you're in the area, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way!
