Oh my! I could go on about the amazing experience we had at this café! It not only exceeded my expectation, but it was such a dreamy experience! First off, The ambiance at this particular location was a 10/10! They do have multiple locations , we chose this one in particular because we were planning on exploring the Polanco area! Walking in you can see their covered patio that is connected to their bookstore! You do havee the option to sit inside or outside! We opted for inside seating, and were offered in my personal opinion, one of the best tables in the entire cafe! It was on the second floor overlooking the library! Now the food! It is a café, so they have a diverse menu of drinks! I ordered a carajillo, and it was great, definitely a more simple take on it. My boyfriend ordered a Americano, and he loved it! For food we started off with some guac and chips! OMG I absolutely loved their chips! You can tell they make them in house! For my entree I ordered the tilapia and my bf the mole and both were not only a 10/10, but the presentation was chefs kiss! I def recommend! This bookstore is so charming and lovely! It's very unassuming from the street , you would never know this is what will greet you when you walk in the door. It doubles as a cafe and bookstore with tables scattered all around both floors of the space. There is a good selection of English books as well. I think I found my new favorite local spot. Apart from being a great restaurant, this place is also one of the most awesome cafes that I have ever seen. I've spent the past hour here sipping on a hot tea and enjoying a nice fruit plate. While at the same time, I even perused a couple of their book collections. I also noticed that everyone who was working here was dressed professionally and they appeared to be very attentive to the customers. I really enjoyed the vibe, and they made the place super comfortable with se real sofas and comfortable chairs. I bet if I stayed longer, I could also make a few friends. A very unique cafe within the heart of of Polanco area within CDMX, it was a short walk away from our hotel. Seems to be a popular place with a short line forming before it opened at 9am. As in most places the waiter struggled with English. Thankfully the Spanish menu and English menu were printed similarly so when we point our selections he was able to follow along. I ordered the pendula omelet while my wife and daughter ordered the scrambled eggs and the biscuits. The matcha one of us ordered was not good and had a mild distaste so had to be replaced with a regular latte. My omelet was ok with nothing to shout joke about. Went on a Friday morning with no reservation and were seated within five minutes, not bad at all for a party of four. The menu is massive, which makes it feel a bit more like a tourist-friendly spot, but there's definitely something for everyone. The real highlight for me was the bookstore inside. If you're a book lover like I am, this place is absolute wonderland. They have a great selection of titles in both English and Spanish. As for the food, it was solid. I had the chilaquiles verdes with carne, and they were delicious; flavorful, hearty, and perfectly balanced. The were my table fave. Everyone wanted a bite. It was just ok. Good concept but the food was just ok. Would have been better if everything was warm.

We arrived with no reservation and even though they had a couple of tables empty, they made us wait about 10 to 15 minutes before we were seated. This was fine as it gave me time to explore the beautiful place. After we were sat down, they took our drink order and offered us sweet bread. The coffee and the sweet bread were delicious and I love that they had a different variety. They took our food order fairly quickly, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that you are able to order a half order of Chilaquiles if you're not feeling that hungry. I hadn't seen that option anywhere else on any menu in Mexico, so I really appreciated this. The food was great. The service was great. I'm such a book nerd so if I lived close to here, I would come back often. We went on a Monday and I noticed that a lot of people were just here working on their laptops or taking business meetings. Absolute surprise but a real winner! We were looking for somewhere to eat after walking through the park, before heading to the airport and we decided to try Cafebreria. It was PACKED so we were a little worried but man the service was great, and the food was delicious. Like all bookstores in Mexico, I hate that this place shrink wraps all the books, which are way overpriced to begin with. Can you imagine walking into a Barnes & Noble in America and not being able to open even the inside and backside flaps of a hardcover just to read the synopsis or about the author? Surely there would be protests. The only saving grace to this particular cafebrería is that the space is really nice. That said, since they also serve food, most of the seating is designed for customers who are eating and not just for those who want to chill on something comfortable to read and sip coffee. Kind of like a Barnes and Noble, but amped way up with outstanding food to boot. Recommended by several, we went to Cafebreria El Pendulo - named for an actual pendulum in the store (see photo). The food is outstanding (but honestly did not have ANY bad meals in Mexico) but the bookstore adds so much to the ambience. Art, science, psychology books...books in English, literature books...literally a little of everything for whichever way your tastes swing on the pendulum of knowledge (see what I did there?). Located in very hip and posh Polanco neighborhood, this is an outstanding choice. Cafe + librería = Un concepto muy cool! Cafebrería tiene siete sucursales en la CDMX, aunque elegí la en Polanco para descubrir la colonia y juntarme con un amigo. La ubicacion es conveniente por las que visitan el bosque o la reforma tambien. Hay dos pisos llenos de libros y con opciones para sentarse dentro y fuera (hay un balcon en el 2o piso con una vista bien bonita de la calle Alejandro Dumas). Me recuerda de Barnes and Noble, una librería en los Estados Unidos con Starbucks adentro, pero mas grande. Como B&N, Cafebrería tiene una buena selección de libros y objetos con los empleados listos a encontrar un libro específico o recomendar algo nuevo a sus visitantes. Aunque las librerías de Gandhi (tambien en la CDMX) probablemente tienen mas libros en sus tiendas, el "cafe" de la "cafe-brería" es lo que lo hace especial. Ademas de vender libros/objetos, ofrecen un menu de comida y bebidas muy grandes con opciones veganas y sin gluten. La comida se puede ordenar a cualquier hora del día, pero me parece ideal para el almuerzo/o el brunch. La cocina cierra aproximadamente una hora antes de la tienda a las 11 pm. It has taken an hour just for our fruit plate and drinks to come. I can only imagine how much longer it'll take for all of the other food that we ordered to come out. Stepping into the store, you are transported back into times of dashing gentlemen and romantic ladies, with the circular spiral stairs taking you through stacks of books and couches and tables laid tastefully throughout. The menu is substantial, from coffee to full dinner and drinks. Come to chat with friends or sit for a while with a book, the choice is yours. Being extremely Spanish challenged, it wasn't too difficult with my trusty google translate and no fear of ordering foods. I enjoyed by fried cheese on salad (who knew crispy cheese would go so amazing on greens) and a cafe Viennese. The 3 star rating is mostly for the food. Everything about this place is adorable and inviting. Service is good, but the food is just so mediocre. I got an omelette with cheese and raw greens in the middle. The cheese was bunched up together in one area of the small portioned omelette and I wish it was spread out more evenly. My omelette came with a salad that was just shredded lettuce and shredded carrots on top with no dressing, 2 chunks of tomato on the side, and diced cucumbers. My boyfriend got a vegetarian gyro that fell apart, with a side of fries. The gyro was just okay and the fries were obviously frozen. I liked my large goblet of freshly squeezed orange juice. The chocolate croissant was good. Overall, I wouldn't come here for a meal. I would recommend for a nice place to study or work or relax with a book, with a drink and pastry in hand. The total was $75 American dollars. Not sure what it was in MP but we thought it was pricey. Being that we've had great meals for way less. The wings were very good. It's part cafe, part bar, part bookstore - all beautifully arranged. I came here for breakfast one morning and sat outside on the first floor. we ordered eggs and ham as well as the chilaquilles. The food was really good - I wish we had just split the chilaquilles though, as the serving was quite large. They have a long list of fresh squeezed juice options and the coffee was great. Our server recommended I try one of the jams that he brought for us - it was incredibly delicious. The service was good and they were patient with my mediocre Spanish skills. While looking around I noticed they have more tables upstairs - both inside and outside. After breakfast I walked around the bookstore - other than a great selection of books, they also have a decent section of vinyls, gifts and movies- all of which had both Spanish and English selections. El Pendulo is a lovely cafe chain in Mexico. I ended up eating at these throughout my stay in D.F. I explored the locations located in Zona Rosa, La Condesa, and Polanco. This particular location in Polanco has a lovely outside seating area overlooking the swanky Polanco neighborhood. The food is great! & the service is top.
