I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOKSHOP! It was very fun to wander about this shop. Discovering quirky, odd, confusing, stunning, antique, and all the great randomness of reading and learning. The prices of the books ranged almost randomly but I imagine serious research regarding the value of each item was conducted. I limited myself to no more than $10 for an individual book. But still....I made a dent in my wallet. Very friendly staffer who chatted some about what was within the bookshop, where some of the books and other materials came from, and commented upon the collection of wondrous surprises which this lovely reader's dream has acquired. I could have stayed for hours but my funds are limited. Very eager to return!

I can't wait to go back, thankful to have a place to find MTG cards that doesn't make you feel super intimidated and everyone just wanted to help. The person working behind the counter was really nice. They have a small clearance section back by the teen fiction section, which you don't see often at smaller book stores. I was amazed at the amount of merchandise for Magic and Pokémon. After looking around for half an hour, I asked one of the employees if any of the cards behind the display cases were for sale, he had to price them out, but was willing to pull any out that interested me. I had him pull out my grail - an EX/NM 1st Edition Dark Charizard from Base Rocket and he gave me $50. I decided it was too good to pass up and he rang it up for me. The experience with the great prices and relaxed atmosphere will have me checking out the Mason location very soon.

There also is a second floor which may be dedicated to a children's area; not positive as I didn't go up there. I am always on the lookout for old books as in 70-plus years, but not a whole lot in that department here as far as sorted items. There was a big stack of aged books but not catalogued. Believe me, I would have gladly pulled up a stool and reviewed the entire stack but as is often the case, the impatient husband was waiting in the car so I couldn't prolong my visit. I did grab a great sci-fi classic by Isaac Asimov; the book is pretty beat up but one dollar! Also spotted a tote bag featuring cats and books so that went home with me for sure. There are places to sit if you want to chill and read for a while. The lady behind the counter indicated that I could contact them for any old books I am searching for. Happy that they have Sunday hours and looking forward to a future visit.

Playing TTRPGs in the large game rooms can be difficult because the sound carries WAY TOO MUCH!…read moreDuring games, it can feel like you need super hearing just to follow what is happening at your own table. Some sound barriers, acoustic panels, or better room separation would make a huge difference. I also wish the store had a clearer focus. They seem to be trying to do a little bit of everything, but some areas feel underdeveloped. They are not really a strong destination for comics; the miniature painting supplies are limited, the other items need better category separation, and the TTRPG offerings could be stronger. Their Sunday D&D one-shots also sell out quickly, and they have in-store gaming waiting lists, which shows there is demand, but not enough space or availability. Pricing can also be on the high side for certain items compared to other options. The store is expanding, which could be a great opportunity. However, I hope the expansion improves the actual play experiences and gives more attention to TTRPG events, sound control, and product focus. More space alone will not solve the issue if the store continues trying to cover too many categories without doing any one of them especially well.
