This is a great find in Rocky Mount, NC! It's like a cafe meets bookstore meets gallery space where you can spend your entire day. The space is very chill with eclectic music to just sip coffee and peruse the latest books. I had an egg sandwich and coffee, which were both pretty good. This is a minutes-long walk from quite a few other eateries and breweries. Great spot.

I am a fan of mom and pop shops before all. This place was like Starbucks and Panera having an illegitimate child. In a good way. The workers were very kind and not afraid to make conversation. The Orange tea was amazing and was a different take on teas with so many flavors. Even after taking 1000 pictures, my sandwiches were still hot. I love people, go here to chill and enjoy the atmosphere. If you are in neee of peace and maybe do some homework while you eat trendy food then this is your spot.

Top tier coffee shop. Counter culture coffee is used. I knew something was pulling me to this coffee shop. Before I walked in it was clearly marked on the front door. 100% profits go to the children of Palestine until Jan 1. That's pretty damn remarkable. Thank you for caring and sharing. The place was immaculate and so well put together in theme that included names on the menu. As a book lover and art student and lover of coffee I could have stayed there all day. They have books for purchase and to share as a library. This further puts Rocky Mount on the map for me. Cannot wait to go back. Oh, and they make their own real cocoa syrup for their mochas. Not popular pump syrups.

Love!Love! Love! This place. It was an "accidentally find and what a find! Very small menu but it's oh so delish. Get the breakfast egg sandwich. Super simple and ooooh so good!!! We enjoyed our pumpkin muffins, sandwich's and cappuccinos. You are allowed to bring your pups inside to order but will need to go outside to wait for your order.

First time trying books and beans and I will definitely be a repeat customer. I got the Hemingway and the bell jar which are both sandwiches. They were so fresh and the crunch on the bread was perfect. Friendly staff, chill atmosphere.

Cute spot! The chai tea latte was great! Nice, quiet atmosphere to plug in and get some work done. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area to study and work. Parking was a bit of an issue, but if you don't mind walking after you find a spot up the street and around the corner, it'll be fine!

    Worlds best iced latte

I typically don't write reviews but I had to for this place: My friends and I stopped here during our roadtrip for some breakfast and the vibes were DIVINE. The prices were great, the food was baller, and the atmosphere was incredible welcoming and friendly. Our barista Faith and her coworker (didn't catch her name, wore glasses and a green shirt) were so sweet and great for conversation. We are definitely stopping here next year on our next trip through the Carolina's. Thank you crew at books n beans for a great breakfast and experience!

We were so excited to discover this jem. I love everything about this coffee shop. It has a clean all white and bright interior with a book decor. We had the egg and cheese with bacon on a brioche. Spectacular! The coffee was so goooood. We met the owner and she is a NY Times best selling author! She created the books and bean in her book and then made it come to life. Wow! I can't wait to read her book. So happy to have discovered Books and Beans in our travels...wishing we lived closer to this lovely spot. If you do, don't miss it!!!

Ok... this place is amazing. I came here as I was driving to Williamston, and I am so glad I did. I dont like my coffee drinks or lattes extremely sweet. It takes away from the espresso itself. So when I took my first sip, it was delicious, creamy, and addictive. Not bitter at all! The building is beautiful and inviting too!

Very nice location with great coffee and friendly service. My hot latte was perfect and my daughter enjoyed her iced latte. Will definitely return when in the area.

We were staying at the River and Twine tiny house hotel and had a coupon to come here (we would have come anyway). It's in a separate building that was once the canteen of Rocky Mount Mills. They don't have a huge selection of drinks and breakfast items but what they had was delicious. My wife enjoyed her chai latte, I enjoyed my drip coffee, and we both enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches. The space is very bright and open, with white-painted bricks. We were expecting more books actually, but hey, no real complaints. A nice place to pop into, with indoor and outdoor seating.

It is not fancy, but once you try something it is different. This is American Cooking but with a style that is special. See what awaits. When we went in I had worked up at the Rocky Point Markets for furniture both in the spring and the fall of each year. It was always filled with folks from everywhere to shop, and see and buy for the next season. There were plenty of places to have lunch. But when dinner came it was special. The local style of cooking was different. It might have the same meal as you would find in another region, but here it was different as it is based on the cook / chef. Tonight we stopped in and the person helping us was very special. She told us of what was available and what was not. She gave the details and let us order. First we had to have an Arnold Palmer. Naturally, it was different than the person down the block. This was not sweet as usually. It was an equal mike and perfect to have. It gave us something to think about. First up was the Mac & Cheese. But unlike normal Mac & Cheese, with this we ordered shrimp. Not what you expect, this was unique. The Mac & Cheese was a combination of fresh pasta and mixed with four different types of cheese. It was mixed together with a cream and butter. It was not a firm mix but a mix that was moist and tasty with each bit you took. That alone was a meal unto itself. Being mixed with shrimp was different. The shrimp where not small. They were a good size. And there was almost a dozen mixed in. They were not placed onto. Being mixed in they aded to the flavor and taste. There was no spices. Just fresh shrimp with pasta and a cheese mix. A dip of bread helped to take it all in. Next we did have Baby Back Ribs. These were very fresh and tasty. Cooked to the right point hthey literally fell off the bone itself with the touch of a fork. The taste was slightly mixed with honey. Sweet but spicy. Naturally had to have some home made coleslaw with this. Plus an order of sweet potato fries. And these were fresh. Alone with a drink these would have been a good snack to have together. I could have had another plate of these alone. The two dishes were perfect. Yet, we did need to have dessert when the couple at the next table ordered it and shared it. This was Bread Pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream and served with Bourbon sauce. This was heaven itself. You did not need more. There people could have shared this one item. Again, it was freshly made and warm. Ideal. The ice cream was made that morning. And, as for the bourbon, you could have had a glass of this. Spread over the bread pudding it was how we sometime drink an Irish Coffee. Had to have that taste with each bite. Overall, this was a special place to for a meal. It was truly unique for the region and for the chef. The team was a great help. The price was great. As for the people who were there, it was packed. Many came from the places where they are creating the new furniture and items that will be on display for the next market in Rocky Point for next spring. They knew where the place is and what to order. It is truly the right spot for a good meal. It is worth the visit next time I am in town.
