I love this store, they have a great variety of books, magazines and great merchandise. I can walk around and browse for hours in here. The coffee shop is great as well, I ordered white mocha toffee frappe yesterday and it was AMAZING. read more

I liked the size of this store. They have a good variety of books, magazines and merchandise. The thing that was a little annoying was during the checkout they try to up-sale - their BAM membership and magazine subscriptions. We were visiting Abilene and I wasn't interested in a membership because they don't have BAM in the Austin area. We don't subscribe to magazines either. When I checkout, I just want to pay for what I bought and not be bothered with Spam offers - for lack of a better term. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviewer who noted their political slant seems to be more right wing, although in Abilene, Texas that is to be expected. The last time I was there I was pleased to see both Elizabeth Edwards and Glenn Beck featured on the "favorites" table. Progress? So I don't find that as off-putting as the lack of customer service, which ranges anywhere from indifferent to perturbed. They pretty much leave you alone as you browse, which is how I prefer it, but the minute you find what you want and are ready to check out you're either in a long, stagnant line or you can't find a clerk to check you out. (One particular experience I actually gave up, put the book back and walked out without buying anything.) When you do get to a clerk most aren't very chatty or welcoming. They go through the sales pitch for the card, but it isn't with much enthusiasm. Either they need better training or need to hire more outgoing personnel, but a smile goes a really long way to help the customer feel valued as opposed to merely tolerated. When I pay a little more to go to a bookstore, I expect that to be part of the experience. read more

I kept going back and forth between a two and three stars. I cannot speak for other locations, but this location gets knocked down two stars for their political section, which seems to be very right-wing stocked (I would prefer to see a well balanced selection of display). I could also easily overlook this and bump them back up to three stars but the lack of customer service is also a little off putting. I come from a town where Barnes and Noble reigns supreme, and I am usually greeted and asked if my any help is needed very promptly. I do like their huge magazine section but I can go to Hastings for the same thing and pay the same price. read more

When you name a store like this, you are setting yourself uo for failure. No, there is nowhere near a million books to choose from. Yes, i agree with my previous fellow reviewers, the store policy is to favor (could it be beacuse they believe that is their target costumer?) Right wing book choices? Why should one be surprised? After all we are in the spanking middle of the Bible Belt. My impression of this location? Decadent in the layout (not in a shabby chic way). Borderline rude employees that turly take your already shaky will of finding a decebt book totally away. I am being nice and rounding my 2.5 rating to a 3 star. read more

Had some business to take care of at the mall, dropped off my computer for some work at Best buy. Had time to kill. What better way that look at motorcycle mags, home DIY books, and anything else that catches your eye. Had a strong cop of Joe at Joe Mugs. They got the books on tape if your like me and don't read or know very many long words. Good place to log on to the internet too.. read more

This is my favorite book store in Abilene now. They have a wide selection of the material I gravitate towards. It would be nice if they carried MORE books and less junk like toys and movie paraphernalia. They could use more places to sit too. I know they have the coffee place that has tables and such, but I don't want to sit back there with the teenie-boppers. Don't care for the Joe Muggs coffee either. LOVE their magazine selection. However it seems that the ones I want are always on the very high back top shelf. They need a book grabber or something for us gravitationally challenged folks. But all in all, they have GREAT sales, people are friendly and I love the atmosphere in there! read more

The attendant at the register has no knowledge of what or where anything could be found. We walked around for an hour before we settled on a few reads. I believe that the employee's should be a little more knowledgeable about the store . She also stated that San Angelo has no book stores . Which is completely false. It's okay. I grew up near a Barnes & Noble so I guess I have high expectations. But other than being smaller and having less of a selection, it's typically messy and out of order. I've also had very little help from the staff. Unfortunately, I think it may be the best bookstore in Abilene. read more
